  1. JP's Wargaming and History forum- WWII section - Sherman vs T34 topic The post was made on page 10 (at the bottom of the page). Do note that not all of the posters are grogs, but some of them are ( I post on that forum myself, but I'm not a WWII grog, I'm more of a 17th/18th centuries grog).
  2. A jeep with a 54cm Gerat 041 would be impressive.
  3. I don't know the exact sources, but it was posted on the JP's wargaming and history forum which has a large amount of grogs as members, so I don't dispute it. The person that posted those figures (together with other figures for the various tanks) didn't state which sources he used.
  4. The oneliner part was a joke, but the rest is captured on video by the USMC. I remember seeing at least 2 videos containing images of a men running to a Sherman, rolling underneath it and detonating the projectile he carried. In both cases, the Sherman was destroyed in the proces (some of the ammunition or fuel exploded afterwards and no crew bailed out). There were all kind of desperate measures that were used against the superior American tanks.
  5. It doesn't, flamethrowers were just one of the many variants. The "Stummel" variants would be a good addition think, as they were usually the only mobile anti-tank defences that they had access to for Panzer Grenadiere regiments (StuG's were not a part of the PzG regiments).
  6. Presumably, that is the case. By the way: it would be nice to see the effect of a Hummel firing at a bunch of infantrymen at a range of 100 meters. I would assume that the various limbs of the infantrymen will scatter all over the map. Luckily, the "Strummpanzer" will also deliver such effects (well, without the huge amount of gore, that is).
  7. The question still has not really been answered: will there only be a "generic" Sdkfz 250 or 251 and M3 or will there be variants? They can't be customized, according to a reply from Megakill in another thread, but are some variants included? Flame throwing Sdkfz 251's, or the "Stummel" (or "Strummel"/"Trummel" for all you people that like posting pictures of bears and drums whenever someone makes a typo).
  8. It seems that every single book I have shows the Nashorn with travel locks/stabilisers/whatever you want to call them. I have been lied to by various authors! There was one picture that reminded me of Spanish 16th century musketry (confusion is my trademark?) as the stabilisers (in this case: true stabilisers, custom welded by maintenance personel) were so long that they always reached the ground, this basically creating an 88 on a bipod, which looked strange to say the least. According to the comments, it did improve accuracy, though.
  9. Yeah, Japanese were trained to attach an explosive charge totheir body, run to a tank, roll underneath it, scream a cool oneliner and blow themselves and the underside of the tank to bits.
  10. Even the Panzerzug used supply trains, it was not that uncommon for the supply trains to get involved in a big mess (partisan action, mostly) whilst the Panzerzug itself was relatively safe.
  11. Peculiar enough, the Axis nations were the primary users of magnetic mines (for Japanese infantry, it was basically the only thing they could use against tanks) and the ones to design an anti-magnetic paste. It is rather strange that the Allies, facing a fairly significant magnetic threat in the Pacific did not develop a similar paste, even though they thought of other means to avoid the attachment of magnets to their armoured vehicles.
  12. The same can be said about the Elefant in one of the other screenshots. The Elefant might have been stuck, but the Nashorn commanders made a serious tactical error (by the way: are they actually engaging something, they all face the same direction whilst they are being flanked?).
  13. I am thinking about placing an obstacle in front of the train, not a tank or something. Trains that can't see what's around the corner will definately crash into something if they can't slow down. If you read literature about the Panzerzug campaigns, you will notice that there are quite a few examples of trains almost colliding with strategically placed carriages (at various places in Russia and at the Dutch city of Zutphen for example). Trains belonging to Panzerzug units could have numerous camouflage patterns, and it's not even certain whether these trains are "German" (as in: whether the Germans are using them).
  14. The trains might be grey by design. I wonder whether there will be trains with mounted weaponry (artillery support trains, FlaK trains, trains with carriages that have turrets) and whether the trains are capable of moving/colliding with another unit.
  15. a: You fail to notice that the issue has been brought up in another thread, where I called the vehicle a Hummel. I don't know how you actually missed that post, as you visit the forums often. b: English is not my first language, and if I would translate the Dutch word for "support beam" to English, the result could be either "bar" or "support beam." Support beam isn't entirely correct either, as the gun used the beams as stabilisers, not primarily for support. There's a big difference between stabilisation and support. c: All of the pictures of Nashorns that I have seen had the 2 "support beams" hence I identify Nashorns by that feature. I didn't look at the muzzle break (or the lack thereof). I don't think so, it will just be a 150mm support gun, like the 75mm French support piece and the Polish howitzers, except that it will be mobile. The (I)SU 122&152 series, and vehicles like the Sturmpanzer IV will presumably fullfill that function, even though they are not intended to be artillery support pieces.
  16. Kind of funny, my initial post stated that the "Nashorn" wouldn't be happy, but I edited it to Hummel due to the lack of the 2 bars the Nashorn gun uses to stabilise itself. I was wrong with editing it perhaps, but the Nashorn isn't correctly modelled if it is a Nashorn. The main gun needs the 2 bars for support.
  17. David JJ: you can "edit" maps, but I'm not sure whether difficulty can be player configured in-game by standard.
  18. The Germans didn't put the Zimmerit on tanks because there were lots of magnetic mines in service in other countries, they put it there because they thought that was the case. Zimmerit pasting wasn't halted for nothing: it served no real purpose, especially after rocket propelled projectiles became more efficient.
  19. We can bicker about it all we want Jussi, but do take note that the range is "553" which is higher than the previously announced maximum of 500 meters.
  20. It was a "wink" to all the "Strumm" and "Trumm" discussions.
  21. You know those times when you're stuck on the top of a waterfall and see a couple making love fall down the waterfall in a boat? It's f*cking in third person view! (or overhead view, depending on zoom level).
  22. Perhaps they will have a higher delay for executing orders, but I doubt the overall quality of the people inside the tank (who decide where to drive, unlike their real life French counterparts, who followed the original plan in most cases) will be lower.
  23. There will be a lot of people having fun whilst blasting G. W. B. or other famous people, such as that guy from the Numa Numa dance, or Leroy Jenkins. I will personally be killing Albert West, even though the Dutch are not included in the game, that man deserves digital death for all the crappy music he has produced in his lifetime.
  24. If I could feel shame when posting in a thread filled with nonsense, this would be a good time for me to feel it. The amount of utterly ridiculous statements and lame jokes in this forum is astounding. In short: I like it here.
  25. The "StuH that is actually not a StuH but a Sturmmpanzer IV/Brummbaer, the Russian word might however mean StuH when translated"-vehicle looks good. The thing that bothered me was that the Panther indicated "Panther" not "Panther D/A/G/" whilst there are significant differences between the types.
