  1. Sixxkiller hit the nail on the head, it was done to throw off the aim of whomever was shooting at you.
  2. I tried it, and it sucked. Your wingman and his skills switch with your leader and his skills. So basically, at higher levels, you get a wingman as your new leader with 0 skills. I didn't like it, but your mileage may vary.
  3. I was pretty sure the "bulge" on the wings of the Spitfire was due to the drum, but maybe this was due to something else on the cannon?
  4. My dearest Algy, Thank you kindly for your concern about our gunners, however if you continue to allow our bombers to be shot down repeatedly on almost every mission you escort by the villanous enemy, there will be none left for you to protect. Warmest regards, Chas.
  5. I'd say the F6F was more "robust" than the F4U and could take a bit more of a pounding, I just think it'd be cool to play a bunch of different aircraft even if they are relatively the same statistically, but I realize it's a PITA and a lot of hard work to you guys.
  6. If you are looking at aircraft, this is what I'd like to see: USA P-36A P-39D/N/Q P-61B F6F-3/5 F3F-1 F8F-1 P-47N A-20B/C/G B-26 A-26 B-24D/J TBF-1 SB2C-4 GERMANY He-112 He-100D Ta-152 Me-262 Fw-190D Me-110G He-219A Ho-229 Ju-88A Hs-123 Hs-129B Do-17Z Ju-52 Me-110D BRITIAN Whirlwind Defiant Spitfire Mk.IX Fulmar Tempest Typhoon Meteor Mk.I Battle Roc Hampden Halifax Maryland Baltimore JAPAN Claude Tony (Ki-100 Radial) Frank George Sam (A7M2) Tojo Shinden (Prop and Jet) Kikka Rob Sally Lily Ann Sonia Val Peggy Helen Topsy Liz Mavis Emily FRANCE Morane 406 Hawk 75 Dewoitine 520 Bloch 152 Potez 63-11 Arsenal VG-33/39 Bloch 174 Amiot 154 Leo 451 Potez 631 LN-411 Farman 222 RUSSIA Yak-3 Yak-9 La-5 La-7 I-153 I-15 I-16 MiG-3 Yak-4 P-39 IL-2 Tu-2 Pe-2 Yak-6 Pe-8 ITALY Cr-32 Cr-42 Re-2000 Re-2001 Re-2002 Re-2005 Mc-200 Mc-202 Mc-205 Fiat G-50 Fiat G-55 Br-20 Sm-79 Sm-81 Ca-311/313 CANT Z-501 Piaggio P-108b Well, you asked......
  7. I've done it before, but my plane was on fire and I was missing 1 wing.
  8. The early 20mm versions of the Spits (like the late Mk.I/Mk.II "C" wing types) had belt-fed ammo that had a tendency in combat to kink up and "jam" during violent maneuvers until they switched to the drum-fed versions. IIRC that is.
  9. I think you also fixed the sound coming on problem too, I just tried it for the first time in a while and the sound didn't come on. Thanks guys, it's appreciated. Now to finally convince my brother to get the game, I used to smack him around in the board game all the time so he's gun-shy!
  10. I was working on a pilot, he had 428xp. I received the F4U the very next mission and my xp jumped to 638. So, unless you can take away one of my skills, I'm screwed when it comes to having a pilot ready, and I've been working on this one since Sunday for this tourney.
  11. Ok, I played about a dozen games and no hangups. Looks like you might have nailed it Brian! *double-crosses fingers* I'll try again tomorrow and let you know.
  12. I fly 75% escort, 25% 1 vs. 1 missions. They hang on both. The reason i was pissed last time and gave up was because it was turn 6, element 4, and the bot played a vertical roll for altitude change and the game locked up. It used to almost never happen but now it's happening to me a lot. I'll try the new patch tonight and let you know how it goes. *crosses fingers*
  13. Ok, now I'm griping. And I know you guys are working on it but I need to vent. I'm seriously really really sick of every 3rd or 4th game hanging up on altitude changes, especially after repeatedly getting blasted and finally flying a good mission. It's fatiguing the hell out of my pilots because I have to keep exiting the game, which means the others don't recover. it really sucks because it's taking FOREVER to get a pilot ready for Saturday's Tourney.
  14. Yeah, and those German pilots were in combat from 1939 to 1945 if they lived that long while American pilots were rotated every 25 missions for bombers and I believe 50 missions for fighters, so your comments about kills are very misleading.
  15. Is that such a bad thing? I don't think so. Just my opinion. Also, while I do not agree with lakespeed that Escort missions are hopeless, I do have to say that they are MUCH more challenging. </font>
  16. Well, I've played a ton of games now with the new system and I'm not as gung-ho about the changes as I once was. I started a new pilot, he's flow 11 missions and has a total of 0 kills, 2 damages, and 44XP. The wingman has 2 kills, 1 damage, and 43XP. And my Leader lost his ED on the 1st mission and has yet to regain it, yet also has been shot down twice more and amazingly survived! Escort missions are now pretty much useless at high level. Time after time I see either a IMS:2D or a OOTS 3:4 for 5 or 6 points of damage played by wingmen. Very rarely do I make it past turn 2 without smoking or being shot down. Pretty much if you don't strike first and make a kill on the first turn, you are dead. Which means you always have to start at very high and have to get lucky. And don't even get me going on bombers being useless now. Misty's right, if you want to survive it's 1 vs. 1 and that's about it.
  17. Count me in as well with the same issue, at the altitiute change. I had bagged 3 too and wanted the 4th and a MOH I was hoping.....
  18. Brian, The reason I mentioned that is both times my Leader went down right away, my Wingman drew almost no bullet cards, and none from altitude changes. As I play more I'll get a better feel for it, but I wanted to bring it up for like you said, in case others notice it too.
  19. I thought I'd make some comments about the changes and what I've noticed. I've played several high and low level games to test the system out. 1) When your Leader goes down, and your Wingman becomes Leader, it seems that he still draws from the Wingman deck. This is a serious disadvantage when it is 4 vs 1 and you are trying to even the odds a little. But you do get more defensive cards. 2) Any plane with a damage bonus is BRUTAL! I saw a Jack shoot down my B-17 with a 1:2 for 4, another 1:2 for 4, a maneuver card, and then a 2:3 card for the last 5. In 1 pass! I've also been able to wipe out aircraft on 2 occasions in 1 pass with the P-38 as well. 3) Spoil Aim and Marksman are now the two most deadly skills. You can keep lower burst aircraft from firing at you until tailed and on the flip side you can blast the living crap out of someone when merely advantaged. 4) If you go first, with a damage dealing aircraft, you have a serious chance at a clean sweep. 5) There are a heck of a lot of IMS 2:D cards flying around out there. I drew it 5 times in 1 escort mission between me and my Wingman (4:1) (I was in the P-38) and I also had it used against me 3 times in the same game (I was fighting Me-109K's). 6) I still kind of like the idea of not letting the Wingman have the "Draw an extra card" skill. It give a little bit of an advantage to the Wingman, but maybe now with the IMS/OOTS changes to the Wingman this will not be that big of a deal anymore. 7) With Wingmen getting more defensive cards, Bombers will have a harder time doing any damage to attacking fighters, especially attacking Wingmen. 8) At the first one or two levels of aircraft, don't plan on shooting anything down. the negatives to damage and 0 bursts really hamper your combat ability. Just a few observations I've noticed, to give others a feel for the changes and to share with ya'll my likes and dislikes. So far, I like the changes. I need to play a good 50 games to see how they work out, and it makes the aircraft a lot different from each other, some I will no longer play and some I will be devastating with, but it will no longer be a cakewalk and I think you'll see a lot of pilots get blasted if you get stuck with a "dead-man's hand." 20. Every one knows that pimpin' ain't easy! 1FSTCAT and I are in.
  21. Ok, so I have a question. You mentioned the Spitfire now with a +2/-1 rating. Does that mean there will still be IMS 1:1 cards in the deck for the Spitfire to use? If so, doesn't this hurt the Spitfire by cutting down on the number of "useful" cards it has? I think the changes will be good, and I'm looking forward to seeing how they play out. And I'm really happy about the wingman deck rule, they can be brutal drawing a ton of cards.
  22. Well, that stinks for you Mistura. But at least maybe someone else will win for once! Well, how 'bout it 1FSTCAT? Shall we take on this rabble and send their aircraft back full of holes and in the "smoking" section of the sky?
  23. If there is a difference in the XP of the pilots, it will limit the aircraft you can use to "even" the XP Value out.
  24. Wow, did miss something for not playing the last few days? I knew it was really packed with about 20 players, most I didn't know, over Sundayish to Tuesdayish, the last time I was really on. I thought that was a good thing but I'm seeing not. I do know from a retail standpoint that I bought my copy from here, as no retailers near me had even heard of this game and didn't even have it as a release date.
