  1. you can compare the two methods of play / engines though , and for me CM:SF offers more precise control.
  2. i certainly feel TOW was a bit of a click feast that you dont have much control over but maybe i didnt give it enough time.
  3. Ok i know they are different genres but CM is moving back to WW2 at somepoint so i feel the question is relevant. What game does everyone prefer ? Theatre of War or Combat Mission Shock Force. CMx2 WW2 seems like it will stand on the toes of TOW a little - doesnt it ? (especially with the real time options).
  4. Well said Matt. When CMBO was first released i loved it but struggle to play it these days becausee of the enhancements CMAK has to offer - it kind of changes my style of play. I bet BF has loads of great mods in the pipeline, just keep em coming please and 10 out of 10 for CM:SF

  10. just been reading a few of the notes from the start of the CM:SF project. I does define the WW2 44/45 western europe would be the next CMx2 areana. Is this still the case ? How long ? CM:SF will keep me going for a while im sure it looking good.
  11. Amazon !!! excellent ... i can actually order stuff by debit card at last then.
  12. any CMC style campaigns in CMx2 ? i was really looking forward to carrying units over a campaign. Scott
  13. ok so when are we likely to see a WWII CMx2 ? thanks scott
  14. dead dead dead its dead its no more. oh well, hopefully CMx2 will provides some of its good ideas.
  15. Combat Mission games are like this too, better to be a ground level to get a feel for the game, to see what unit see. Im just finding TOW missing soome of the control features in CM - cover area - hide I gave TOW another good go at the weekend. It is fast moving and i find the LOS process diffiuclt compaared to CM. Will give it another go ... could do with entering buildings Scott
  16. i just dont feel like you have any level of control over the proceedings. Think im going to jump back into the Combat Mission series. I love the TOW pickup weapons and control individual soldiers but i just feel that each mission develops on its own accord with very little user control or influence over what happens. I have tried the pause/order - pause/order method of played and it does help a bit. Ahhh i just get frustrated everytime i play TOW. It does look fantastic however. Scott
  17. thats was a good watch, very entertaining. was that all done in TOW ?
  18. debit card thats what i need to use !!! so annoying you cant process this bf. would have purchased far more on the spur of the moment if i could order online ! as it happens i have only purchased your products from retails stores in the past (cmbo, cmbb, cmak) ... looking forward to full version of CMC, SC2 & TOW but it cannot order ..... hence im going for Total War series. My gripe is over. Scott
  19. interesting, im certainly using the STOP command ... i guess i need more training What is the theory behing having a STOP command if HOLD POSITION actually stops them and keeps them there ? Why does stop mean they go charging off to the objective on there own inititive after 'x' amount of time ? How do they know what the objective is ? i might change it mid battle depeding on the flow of what is going on ? how do they know what direction to charge at ? .... anyone that fires at them ? is this a realism angle or something ? could argue case both ways for taking cover or approaching fire positions under own planning without user control i guess .... but its still annoying.

  21. i ran the combat tactics training mission and found it difficult to get units to stop moving forward. Every time i tell them to stop, they did for a bit before moving forward again without my instrucitons. Its not even like they were looking for cover as the 3 tanks in the mission went headlong straight for the enemy trench. Found this very annoying. I like to be in total control of my units for the most part. I understand then sneaking into shelter if they were under fire like CMAK but ahhhhhh first impressions not great for me.
  22. fantastic !!! what is your PC spec ?
  23. interesting thread. Combat Mission building model used the first method, you could place units at the back of the building to get them out of the way. Didnt work too well for smaller builings however, you the squad would manually adjust itself to fit in the building and present itself as a target without your influence, was annoying. not got a copy of TOW yet, waiting on new pc (may get PS3 for GTA4 but thats another story) ... but looking forward to it. May wait on version 2 however is i cant order online without credit card Cheers Scott
