  1. Hello Michael, Ive read several writups that attribute a high proportion of casualties to artillary fire . I believe that this would be true in the areas "back" from the "real" front line of a few hundred meters or so. Check out this link.http://www.carlisle.army.mil/cgi-bin/usamhi/DL/showdoc.pl?docnum=57 Its possible that many poor troopers were killed by rifle fire and after the battle with artillary ranging back and forth across the battlefield the casualties were attributed to artillary. Picture it.Not a good Graemlins for this one. Machine guns used the same bullet cal. as the rifles. poppy
  2. Two questions. The M1 is a semi-automatic rifle with a 8 round clip using a 30-06 cartridge . Has its effectivness been under rated in CM in comparison to the bolt action K98 and Lee-Enfield and has the Mp44 been overrated? A lot has been made of the sound made when the ejected empty clip from an M1 hits the ground but I dont think that it would be noticed at 100m in the dirt. poppy
  3. Two man sniper er sharpshooter teams. Spotter and er sharpshooter. poppy
  4. How can BF leave Korea out of their next CM production? Almost all [cant spell virtuly] of the weapons used in Korean war 1950 were used in WW2 so almost all of the reasearch has already been done. In addition we would get to us the Pershing, the updated[hopefully] easy-eight, the Centurian, 3.5 bazooka. There should be a lot of fans interested when they become more aware of the nations that participated in that war. And Burma WW2 could be included in the same production, lotsa stuff went on there almost no armour which would be very interesting. Thanks poppy Gonna have my son install spell chect for me.
  5. Thanks again Junk2drive and Hans, Im looking forward to playing using the mods and scenarios. Im glad to see an interest in the Korean war in CM. Maybe well get to find out on our own how well the Pershing does against the T34/85. poppy
  6. Thanks Hans and Junk2drive, Il download them. poppy
  7. Thanks junk2drive, I already have CMBB, Il try what you suggested. poppy
  8. Korea 1950-53 What an oportunity to use all of that hard won knowledge of WW2 weapons. The Normandy landings in June 1944 till the surrender of Germany in 1945 lasted less than a year. Korea 1950 till stale mate in 1952 lasted twice as long. Used the same infantry weapons almost the same armour and similar terraine as norhtern Italy except for the extreme cold, just like Russia. What may be needed is browse the web for Korea in 1950-53. Ah http://www.carlisle.army.mil/cgi-bin/usamhi/DL/showdoc.pl?docnum=57 poppy Oh and I forgot to mention the Brits,Yanks,Greeks,Turks, and many other nations were represented.
  9. Thanks Mr.Tittles, Although the Korean war was brief in comparison to WW2. The Normandy landings 1944 June till the surrender of Germany was a year or so. The Korean war untill the stalemate of 1952 lasted two years. A lot went on there with essentialy the same weapons that were used in WW2. Thanks again poppy
  10. The 76mm ap rounds had some defects during ww2, were there iprovements made to this round after ww2 and prior to the Korean conflict of 1950-53. The Easy Eight was used against the T34/85 in Korea and I am interested to know how well they compared. In searching the internet for info I have found a lot of interesting reading but nothing on 76 ap round improvements. poppy
  11. Interesting reading on the Korean war at http://www.carlisle.army.mil/cgi-bin/usamhi/DL/showdoc.pl?docnum=57 poppy
  12. Hello Andreas,You are probably correct,if there has to be a 10km spread for the ranging equipment to function correctly then it would have to be an abstracted counter battery feature. Is there another thread that has or is discussing other suggestions for CM/CMx2 arty modeling? Thanks poppy
  13. There could be a command like "fire on enemy battery" as a target option to the "in command range" counter battery unit. poppy
  14. Good question. A sound or flash ranging unit would have to be on map and of course would have cost points. They also would have had to have been placed correctly in the "setup" mode in order to detect the location of enemy batteries and would provide range and direction to your counter battery which would have to be in command range of your ranging units?? poppy
  15. What if an on map battery of 75mm howitzers had an ammo supply of say 400 rounds and 50 rounds per period could be fired. That would give a counter battery unit say two periods to detect the 75mm batt and say two periods of return fire and if the return fire silenced the 75mm battery it seems to me that that would be fun to do and the 75mm batt would have been limited to 200 rounds. poppy ??
  16. Another reply, CMx2 has got to offer something more than "GREAT GRAPHICS" it has to expand to the limits set by CMBO,CMBB,CMBAK. But to keep the same players and buyers it has to offer a more"complete"game. Tough huh.poppy
  17. Hello Junk2drive, I have never played "Steel Panthers" but I have heard of it many times. I will check it out. poppy
  18. Hello tar, I have been campaigning to have on map indirect fire included in CMx2. I think that it would round out CM even if nothing else was done to change the game. Idirect fire was the determining factor in WW2 and I think that a "resonablefacsimili" could be included in CMx2.Hey that sounded like a "GERMAN" word. poppy
  19. Hello JonS, It might be a worhtwhile addition if in CMx2 the on map battery was limited to so many rounds per turn and then their fire disrupted or further limited by return fire? This would only work for a large or huge scenario. Thanks for the repley. poppy
  20. Is this a "true thing" that you are stating CombinedArms?? poppy
  21. Would it be a resonable addition to CM in CMx2 to include counter battery detection and counter battery fire if hi trajectory fire from on map artillary were to be included in CMx2? poppy
  22. Hello Admiral Keth This is poppy , I tried to upload a CMAK battle of 137kbts orso and it was rejected. Anything that can be done except reducing the size. poppy
  23. The British had sound ranging and flash ranging in late 44 at the regimental level. Question: can this be resonably portrayed at the battalion level in CMX2. poppy
