  1. Leave your CDs home and chalk up one point, youl need it latter, Your wife wont let you enjoy the game on holiday anyway.
  2. How well did the Panther and the Tiger fare on the attack rather than on the defense against the Sherman. Ive searched for info on this question and havent had much success. However Ive read several write ups, cant remember which ones, which claimed that direct fire from US anti tank guns and Shermans killed many Panthers and Tigers in defensive operations that were incorrectly credited to fighter bombers.
  3. CM as in wargame. Military equipment now as compared to military equipment in WW2. Sherman bulldozer as compared to present day military bulldozer. Maybe there will be Sherman bulldozers in CMx2.
  4. orem_m is writing about his present day experiencies and they should not be viewed any differentaly than a person writing about his experiences of 60 years ago. At least in the context of CM. poppy'
  5. In 1957 I was going through tech training in Memphis Tenn and one of the most infuriating confrontations that I have ever had was when on the way back to the navel base the bus driver over my objections ordered a black sailor to the back of the bus and me a white sailor to the front of the bus. I have never forgotten this experience.
  6. Hello Colonel J Lee, I agree, the M1 in my opinion is very much under rated at the 100m and 250m ranges. It is after all a semi auto rifle with a eight round clip, and no matter how you constru it a semi auto is much faster than a bolt action using the same or nearly the same cartridge. I started a thread in the CMAK forum in which I argued this point. Im in the process of buying one so I can give some first hand accounts of the results that I get firing the M1. Itl be awhile,I live in California so it takes awhile to go thru the process.
  7. I agree, after battle reports, historical or not, belong in the after battle report, not in the pre battle briefing.
  8. A beautiful village, a lot like the central coast of California where I live. "poppy"
  9. Maybe Im just not used to the CMAK infantry they are more apt to scatter under fire which is probably more real.
  10. Hello junk2drive, Il give it a try, I tried Valley of Trouble CMAK but it wouldnt work.
  11. MikeyD Im not going to ask you to list the mods you are using, they look the same as mine. poppy
  12. Thanks Philippe, Im in the learning process of using mods so itl take me awhile. I admit that the graphics out of the can in CMBO dont look as apealing as CMAK but they , at least for me, project a better 3D environment. Shock waves, early Laura Croft and Bushmills are good
  13. My computer crashed for a long day but is back now. Thanks Phillippe, Il see if I can make the mods work for me. Shock waves Laura Croft and CMBO graphics are good.CMBO infantry is better also. poppy
  14. Yes TombRaider 1, shock waves and graphics just like Philippe posted. I gotta have those graphics. Would you post a list if you have time Philippe ,I and probably others would be most apreciative. poppy
  15. Hello everyone, Better response than I expected. What started this for me is when I went back and started to play the CMBO demo from early 2000. As I said in another thread, the scenario "Valley of Trouble" got me hooked on CM and I wanted to play it again and try to win without saving any more than six or seven times, When I loaded the scenario and brought it up on screen I was suprised at how obvious the the hills and dips and knobs and holes were. Maybe it is a little more cartoonish than CMBB and CMAK but for me its more fun to play. Shock waves are good. poppy
  16. Il try 800x600 Im using 1024x768 now. Shock waver are good.
  17. Im wondering if other players perfer CMBO graphics. Less eye strain for me and better 3d.
  18. Yep thats it now Im retired so I can play VOT 23 more times witout being interruped by work. Only by my wife which is almost as bad. Thanks poppy Please BF improve CM but dont change it.
  19. I appreciate the response and I looked at the scenarios that were suggested but they were not the same as the demo that got me hooked on CM. The demo that I played was in early 2000. It was as I remember of small or medium size. The Axis had an infantry gun in the SE corner of the map and some pill boxes in the NE corner, there was a little town in the center ,a pond or small lake east of the town. The only armor that I remember was one Panther or maybe two at the most. poppy
  20. My hope is that BF dosent get caught up in the graphics aspect of the game and change the play mode to fit the graphics. I would be happier with an improved AI and a more realistic interface between troops, vehicles and buildings,a more realistic destructible terraine, being able to reman abandoned guns and vehicles, being able to man captured guns and vehicles, resupply in long battles, a new front line determination in operations based both on position and terraine rather than just position and my pet peeve, a higher fire power rating for the M1 Garand at 100m and 250m by a factor of about twice the present rating. The present graphics are, except for a few little things , plenty good enough to play an absorbing and challenging game. poppy
  21. Thank you Berlichtingen, Il look on Scenario Depot for it. poppy
  22. Can anyone tell me the name of the original demo scenario for CMBO. I rememeber that it is an excellent scenario. Wrong forum but it seems that most of the old Grogs are here. poppy
  23. Hello danielh, I agree with you on the "god mode" Ive been playing and designing scenarios for me and my friends use for several years. For me the most frustrating part of making a scenario is the testing. What you propose would,in my opinion, shorten the testing time and make for much better scenarios with a lot less time in the testing mode. I hope that your idea for a "god mode" feature is included in CMx2 or,if possible, it would make a great patch and enhance CMAK and CMBB. Excellent idea. poppy
