  1. You Americans are not alone in feeling that you really dont have any control of politics or politicians any more - try living in Europe where democracy means damn all! There is a political hegemony that is self fulfilling and looking after its own interests. I like other Europeans, but I think that the EU is ****. It should be a trading block not a soveriegn power unacountable to us mere mortals.
  2. September 20th 1942 We interrupt this broadcast to bring you this bulletin>>> In the early hours of September 20th a mighty Allied force sailed for France. Under the command of General Dwight D Eisenhower US lead forces began the liberation of Europe from Nazi oppression. Details are sketchy at this time but an official communique stated that at least three army corps had achieved a bridgehead. Our prayers go with our brave fighting men, godspeed ( and kick some ass) Meanwhile in the East frantic Soviet counter attacks cause German casualties but no units are wiped out. MusicalMarine: Thanks for your kind words.
  3. And here it is August 30th 1942 Lots of carnage in the East fanatical Russian troops destroy a Nazi corp and an understrength Panzergruppe – way to go. In the West the die is cast the bow is drawn, the liberation of Europe from Nazi tyranny will start next turn – Overlord is reality. The hopes and prayers of the people of the free world are with our brave servicemen in this hour of decision!
  4. No worries, but listem I have to go to bed! Need to get up for work tommorrow. Definately go for a rematch. Nightey night LOL
  5. Arngrim, spend your MMP's on whatever you want, we are both playing by same rules- you are just playing better than me. I was just being ironic when I realised how much air you had. Whatever happens, I am enjoying our match.
  6. I always said that you Swedes took the environment sereiously! LOL August 16th 1942 USSR FUBAR Russians withdraw in places or reinforce. Build up for Overlord ongoing - but where did the Italian Navy go?
  7. I wanted to say something on the 6th but I couldn't come up with anything that I felt did anyone any justice. I watched the D-Day celebrations/comemeration (why cant I spell that) on TV on Sunday and I had a lump in my throat listening and watching those old guys telling their stories and getting choked up themselves. We owe that generation a debt of gratitude and a damn site more respect and care than a lot of them receive in these commercial/consumer/instant gratification days. In the forties your average serviceman (on all sides) was drafted so for the most part WW2 was fought out between ordinary guys and that to me makes their heroism and commitment all the more impressive. I cant imagine todays 20 somethings doing the same. So let us never forget those old men, whom use walking sticks or have wheelchairs and make us feel uncomfortable at their infirmity because they were once soldiers and young proud men. My gratitude to the men who ensured my freedom. Derek
  8. 1942 (must take note of date properly) My apologies for my tardiness in not posting my last few AAR’s. Things have been tough – I had to go for an eye test – need fecking glassses, I have an ear infection – lovely and I broke a tooth on Sunday, so I am really pissed off! Thank heavens for SC! Question - Arngrim stop buying aeroplanes! They are creating green house gasses which will ruin our planet and they are kicking the crap out of the Russians and the Turks. Where is your morality? Now for the AAR The Russians have been well and truly lacerated it looks like E Front in a state of meltdown and Axis air has wiped out Ankarra’s defenders. A Soviet corp is operationaly moved to the now vacant Ankarra – maybe next turn huh? The Russians have reinforced in some sectors and in others withdrawn to the essentially a line from Leningrad thru Moscow- Stalingrad to Rostov. Second front NOW! screams comrade Stalin to Roosevelt and Churchill. I reckon if I just had ten grands worth of MMP’s I could win this. LOL
  9. Dad says OK LOL I told him that there are some really excellent people on this forum. I'm just going over to your Writing Club for a looksee just now. Thanks for encouragment JJ
  10. June 21st 1942 USSR continues mauling Finland and reinforcing East Front against the Hitlerite hordes! RAF continues bombing stuff. It will get more exciting soon – honest! Reiver_II Just remember who your financial backer is!
  11. Pleased to welcome my son James into the SC Community, he's 12 going on 40 but be gentle with him. He is a complete newbie but dead keen on wargaming. Good luck James aka Reiver_II PS If he starts talking smack shoot him down.
  12. Kuniworth I use SC to escape from my fiances constant demands for sex! :)Aint life a bitch. She actually plays wargames and I am trying to get her into SC so we can play over our home network.
  13. May 3rd, 1942 Listening to the Stones, drinkin some nice German beer – my Karma is good! 1st Up - Canada is taken back by those awfully nice American chaps and a Free French corp takes up station there to make sure that those nasty nazis don’t come back. Meanwhile the RAF continue their policy of flattening things with highly successful raids on Essen and the French mining industry – casualties are negligible and both areas are at zero production. Up North at Bergen my “Top Gun” navy fliers have ground a German Corp down to 20% strength – way to go guys! Whilst I’m typing I got “Iriswebcam.com” you know “hi I’m Iris and if you give me your credit card details you can look at my ….” Anyone know how to block that stuff? Anyway – in the East North of Riga a German Corps gets wiped out by some highly motivated Red Army Soldiers, plus as a bonus Red Army accounts for yet another Finnish Corp adjacent Helsinki – NICE! Elsewhere along the line the Red Army is dug in and expecting rain. Have a nice day.
  14. Tried 3 godamn times to do a really good AAR! No dice! I have had too much Valpolicella and some beer that came in a depthcharged shaped barrel! God bless you all, Goodnight from Scotland!!!
  15. Losing UK to an aggressive new player, because I moved all of my carefully nurtured Free French Armies to Middle East. Bummer That wont happen again. Reiver
  16. The German Army Corp heading for Ireland not mentioned in the last report was given a pounding by Anglo American airpower. Not much else going on. Apart from fierce fighting in Finland.
  17. November 30th, 1941 Finnish unit wiped out by superior Soviet Armoured units. The plucky Portugese hang in against the nasty Nazis. RAF continue to area bomb Essen.
  18. November 2, 1941 With the Axis’s PC problems resolved hostilities continue. The RAF pays visits to the French mining areas and Essen – French coal output reduced to nil and Essen working at 60% of usual production. The RAF suffers quite high losses to German Flak. The Fleet Air Arm continue to bomb Bergen and in the Western Med Supermarine Seafires from HMS Glorious strafe an Italian submarine near Algeirs. Malta continues to hold out. The Italian XXIV corps is mauled by the Canadian 1st Army in Palestine but things look pretty bleak in M East (whats new) In the East Soviet forces dig and prepare to defend a line Riga-Smolensk-Kharkov-Crimea. Meanwhile Oddessa holds out grimly against the Hitlerite invaders. Reiver
  19. Robert aka Kossuth Commiserations man! To all: I am glad that Ryder Cup is continuing, it was a **** hot idea, hell mend the cheaters! I hate to see the guys who's comments I read (and respect)on this forum becoming discouraged because some arseholes might be cheating. I dont cheat- you can tell by my League Stats (I suppose the other conclusion being that I am a lousey cheat) There is no point or satisfaction in cheating at least in my value system. If I beat Jon J Rambo or any of the other legends around here using cheating well what would be the point, the real joy would be to beat an opponent of that calibre on even terms - otherwise what have your acheived - f**k all! I like competition and have encouraged my children to compete, winning is all - but it is really a hollow victory unless you know that you have achieved it by skill. So I will continue getting humped by the experts until that day when my alcohol befuddled mind gets the hang of Strategic Command and I finally give someone a run for their money. Your's most sincerely Reiver aka Derek W Scott Esq
  20. May the (air)force be with you.
  21. The man wants a cold dark beer.
  22. Edwin P Doesn't that delay the USA entry into the war significantly? Or does your MMP gain compensate? I have not tried that kind of aggressive allied opening move - but I'm going to give it a shot tonight against the AI.
