  1. @retributar, GOD, It's getting so somber around here, that YOU have to even put footnotes to SARCASM
  2. So Kuni, ...how about ripping into some newbies, I wanna see some of the ol' Kuniworth magic. or are we just talking about masturbation!
  3. To Moon, and the other admin. folk @ battlefront. Any chance of adding a 'Skype' field into the 'my profile'. AIM and ICQ are pretty similar, and ICQ seems to be used here more than AIM, (especially amongst the SC players). mIRC appears the go with the CM crowd. Skype has (multiple) text chat, and voice and video. I think it would be a hoot trashing opponents using this. regards Agent
  4. Hubert, Played from autosave, likewise appeared okay. Played many turns in and still nothing. Odd! Will continue playing and manually save every couple of turns. If error becomes 'repeatable', will let you know. Thanks. A.S. ...and as an 'isoview' non-hex grid sceptic, I have to add my voice to the large chorus of approval ringing out across this board; good job sir. (although for SC3, at least a top down map view option )
  5. Tiger, sorry for not getting back to you earlier. Melbourne winter, and family colds have slowed me down a little. I'm still a newbie at this game for 2 reasons. a) I've been playing Schwerpunkt's AGW lately, so Tacops went back to Game 'B'. (It will never leave my H.D. game is awesome!) The pbem opposition are scary 'hard-core' gamers and (ex)military types, that take no pity. So my Tacops experience is tweaking Umpire tools and playing solo. But as I sais, I'd love to try a capture the flag scenario on a map base other than the standard 1st 16. So if you are interested just post up a reply. regards A.S.
  6. re: Resolutions. I'd really love 1920x1200. can it not be custom set like Highway to the Reich? ta!
  7. Hubert, here is the error log. I'm not sure how much info you can derive from this. As I think it also shows earlier crashes. I think you may find the zipped autosave file here... autosave file . Thanks. log as follows... 8. GRRRR... Directsound crash occurred AGAIN!. This time early '41 as troops, (allies) were attacking Tobruk, and axis (A.I.) were preparing for Barbarossa. Running 1.02 patch. Very Disappointing! Q: Can scripting cause this error? Will patch 1.03 review this code error?
  9. Hey Tiger, I'm a long time newbie, and in Aus. (Melbourne). Interested in a pbem that uses those amazing non-solitaire maps. and be careful...the fact that newbies have reappeared here has been mentioned in the hardcore mailing lists. So the sharks are circling, They're looking for blood! welcome aboard, game is brilliant. very absorbing!
  10. Guy, 40, Melbourne Australia Time split between Architect/ Lecturer/ Father/ Grognard. (in no particular order.
  11. ...I've just noticed an earlier thread regarding 'directsound' I play the game with military symbols, not 3D units. Given they are just pushing .bmps around, I'm curious to the nature of this bug. Will it effect future unit mods?
  12. Playing v1.01 1939 Fall Weiss Standard Scenario, (no script mods), and twice in a row received following crash pop-up, immediately after Axis declares war on Denmark... anyone else getting this?
  13. ...and funnily enough even though I always prefer war games that play like maps. I always play my chess games in 3D. go figure!
  14. Isometric/ axonometric views ARE NOT perspective views. True 3D modelling of the game space, would bring this game more in keeping with combat mission. As much as I hate the aerial view, and wished for a toggle option, consider the additional computing requirements needed just to render the game space; older machines would grind to a halt. Processor grunt should be put into the game play, speed of interface and complexity of A.I. not in 'smoking guns' and lapping waves and snow capped peaks! Get over the graphics, no doubt there will be mods a plenty; and focus on what will make this game last long after graphics become old-hat.
  15. fant Web Grognards has scans of some of the classic boardgames. Used this site for tweaking units on many games I play. Counter Scans
  16. Nice Icons and map mod suggestions. But get over the hexagons inside the squares. They create to much confusion and are totally irrelevant. (or was that some sort of old-news critique!) Funny thing happened the other night, I dug up some Avalon Hill games to check out the graphic quality of the maps. They sucked. Nostalgia can be dangerous. The map quality of D-Day, Afrika Corp etc. are very basic, and most recent game releases have a much better quality than the printed variety. Although I do miss hex co-ords and detailed Unit counters
  17. The problem here is one of game longevity. This year's allies are next years insurgent terrorists! How often do you update the database to reflect current world politic?
  18. Harpoon II (Dos 3.6) 5.25" Diskettes. Biggest A.I Battle: Fighting himem.sys, config.sys & autoexec.bat to squeeze every bit out of 640kB of memory. and Chessmaster
  19. Thanks for the comment Bill. @JJR- man you are getting really tiresome, now go take your medicine and have a good lie down. There's a good boy.
