I had a Heinkel tank buster turn the game around for me when I was playing "Borisovka Station". The enemy infantry had almost reached my infantry's positions and I had lost most of my AT assets. The Soviets still had plenty of armor left. So, I was in dire straits. That plane(planes?) came and knocked out 9 tanks, if I remember correctly. Then again, that wasn't a PBEM scenario.

I apologize if this has been mentioned or if you can actually do this with CMx1 and I just never figured it out, but I would like to be able to plot waypoints for groups of units that I have selected, not just one movement order.
-
Change:
1)Ditto on the formation commands.
2)"Drunk" fitness setting for Soviets(Bwahahah!I'm only half-serious about this, but they had their vodka rations...)
3)No use of identical graphics for vehicles which had considerable differences.(the PSW 233, for example)
4)Ditto on campaign system.
Don't change:
5) SS hampstertruppen underwear(They get a bit bitey).

Wasn't the Gewehr 43 not produced in particularly great numbers? I suppose someone around here has some production figures. That could explain its absence.
EDIT: A quick search shows production to have been approximately 400,000. So, I guess that's not the reason.

I could send you the scenario file just so you'll be certain. Your choice.

That sounds like "Death Ride of the 424th".
-
Sent! Tom Murphy is the scenario author, by the way.

I don't know if this has been discussed, but would anyone like to have the ability to place units in a variety of formations in which they would remain(all things remaining equal) with a few mouse clicks or the push of a button? For example, would anyone care to see a "Panzerkeil"("armored wedge", for those who don't know) formation command? If this topic has been discussed to death as a feature for the next CM game, I apologize.

Crap. I just noticed the 'What if' thread on Poland. Tee-hee! People can get so veklempt on the hypothetical.
-
Yes, that's right, friends. Today, 66 years ago, Molotov and von Ribbentrop were toasting each other's evil empire before they split Poland and other territories. Schnapps and Vodka for everyone(not really)!

I'd recommend 'Kursk - Tigers on the Farm'. It involves fighting at the Oktyabrski collective farm. I could send you the file if you want.

Ha ha! The Soviets never disappoint.Originally posted by General Colt:Definitely NOT bullet proof vests.
They were known as "ЧЕРЕПАХОВЫЙ" troops or turtle troops. When these units were on grassy or muddy hills they would assault the German lines by sliding down the hill on their bellies. There was also a winterized version for snowy terrain. The white variant was much more widely distributed. A winterized mod will be posted at CMMODS soon.

Ahah! I never would have thought of that. Thanks!Originally posted by chiavarm:I use shift "V" then I can just pick what I want.

Any minute now, a Finn should be posting a message that they were attacked first.Originally posted by Grisha:coe,
To answer your first question, German panzers ended up reacting to a well executed series of Soviet moves, primarily in the area of deception, but not limited to it. The Soviet plan was to hit AGNU all along--just not when the Germans expected it. It all began up north (and a little bit down south near Romania) when the STAVKA continued operations there into late winter and early spring. This was to distract the Germans of a massive build-up in Belorussia where AGC was going to get hammered. During this same period, much movement was made known (by the Soviets) of Soviet tank units deploying down south opposite AGNU, thereby 'assuring' the Germans of the validity of their own intelligence assessments. Once all the pieces were in place operations commenced in a north-to-south manner roughly. It started up in the Baltic, then Belorussia, then Ukraine, then Romania. This succession was meant to progressively draw the panzers away from the Ukraine, which it did to a respectable degree. Once, the Germans realized just how bad AGN/AGC's situations were, panzers started shifting north. That's when the Lvov-Sandomir operation began in the Ukraine. A couple weeks into this operation the Yassy-Kishinev operation commenced into Romania.
Regarding the Belorussian operation, it did finally stop along the Vistula after an advance of about 500km, accomplished over a period of about a month or so. Not sure the panzers had much to do with the halt, rather than the Soviets being at their absolute maximum operational tether, as it were. The Germans tried to eliminate the bridgeheads across the Vistula (about three major ones in all), but this failed.

Is it just me, or are other players maddened by troops in halftracks being so difficult, at times, to toggle? LMG and ATR teams, for example. Maybe I'm just impatient...
-
Have you ever tried loading a bull pup, though? Those rear magazines are damned awkward.

Priceless. Truly priceless. Your over-reaction started all of this nonsense. I'm done with this mongo thread.Originally posted by JasonC:How about all the sanctimonous peanuts in the gallery stop defending the indefensible for five minutes and let the SS be damned as they ought to be, without the urge to utter another peep in their defense, direct or indirect, via moral equivalence games or otherwise?

How about you set down your firebrand of truth and justice for a few minutes, take a deep, deep breath, and remember that this is just a video game(forum)? You act like you bow your head and pray every time a soldier snuffs it on CM.Originally posted by JasonC:You can innocently call on people to remember an event, without extolling its actors, or following up with essays expressing admiration for anyone who dies for their beliefs however base, admiring the elite SS, etc. Check your political opinion pushing at the door, or expect to get shoved right back.

Again, I think an innocent call to remember an event in history is being wildly misinterpreted and/or used as an opportunity for some forum members to shame/flame others. Calm yourselves.

Ah. It figures that they'd start functioning after I quit. I'll check out TW for now. Thanks for the offer, though!Originally posted by Kingfish:Just checked, and they both opened for me. Tell me which one you want and I'll e-mail it to you.

And here it is again. A classic.Originally posted by Walpurgis Nacht:I just have to post this turn again. This is a t34/85 firing at a panther, the shot bounces and knocks out another t34/85 right next to it! Want to an example of how ingenius the physics are in this game? Watch this turn.
Here is the to the turn: http://www.the111.com/rockmacrowIII071.txt
password is "303"
The action happens at 59-60 seconds.

Hmmm. The links aren't functioning. I guess B&T is down right now.

Thanks, Kingfish! I remember you mentioning it in a discussion of "Der Manstein Kommt!" and wanted to give it a try.
Sergei, I think von Churov's comment was simply meant to commemorate the titanic struggle that the battle of Kursk was, not to exclude anyone.

Well, aren't you just controversial? Maybe you should just stick to giving gameplay advice instead of stepping on the toes of someone who bothered to remember a little history.Originally posted by JasonC:Sorry, I have no respect for those who fought and died for what they believed in. Those who believed in any of it are beneath compassion. Those on the other hand who died fighting to keep their friends alive etc, without believing a word of any of it, have all my sympathy.
Kingfish, can you point me in the direction of "Tank Warning"? I can't find it at the SD.
As for me, I love celebrating WW2 anniversaries. Happy Prokhorovka Day!

Wow. Are you a quadraplegic? That's the only way I can see you having enough time for this AAR. If you aren't killed in the process, I'll send you a case of beer upon its completion.
