  1. So now, to really prove the point, someone needs to attempt the same defense but _without_ SMG squads. I mean, this whole defense might have been a piece of cake with pistol platoons, for all we know
  2. Man! That's amazing! I've always wondered why the MGer couldn't be looking out for infantry while the main gun was shooting. Every day you learn something! GaJ. </font>

  4. It sounds like you think that you have been able to order both area fire and a covered arc from the same AFV. Is this what you are saying? I think that this is not possible at all. Either you tell the AFV "fire in this area" OR "shoot any infantry that moves in this arc" but not both... (I completely agree that the behaviour you describe is hard to avoid and not good at all). GaJ.
  5. I can't believe the detail and effort going into these AARs! You guys are unbelievable: this is great!
  6. Just as soon as he u/l's it to cmmods. I'll put a link on the main page again. COG </font>
  7. Will we have info (any info at all would be better than none) about vehicle passengers on the main screen in CMAK?
  8. Is a regular arty spotter better off out of command, or under the command of a green commander? Why? Ta, GaJ [ October 16, 2003, 07:36 AM: Message edited by: GreenAsJade ]
  9. Wow - excellent. I hope your avid readers and fans have read this and done the right thing, to the extent they are able! (I hope you bought a backup system too ) GaJ. 10. Hi All, I see that COG has his email and web server back, and maybe just maybe CMMODS is days away. Are you one of those people who was always intending to make a donation, but never quite got around to it? Now is the time. If you haven't even thought about it, maybe you should. If in doubt, either think about the value you get from having a single place to find all your mods, or read here or even here It's easy: go to www.paypal.com, register (if you haven't already) and make a payment to cozog@cozog.com. GaJ (come on, you know someone had to say it!) PS: "Cough up" is a colloquialism like "dig deep" or "pay up".
  11. Hey, COG, don't sweat the mods! As someone else said, they're all out there: thousands of copies. We can get them back. What would be soooo much harder to replace is the service: the database design etc. If you have that back, I'm over the moon! I hope things work out as well, even better, for your wife. Don't forget to let us know. Is your email address back: are you ready for Paypal yet? GaJ.
  12. CMBB Manual P64. Plus, I had a suspicion that spotting was harder looking into the sun, but I might be making that up... (the manual doesn't say that). GaJ.
  13. Subject says it all really - are there any "player ladders" or "rating systems" operating out there? Ta, GaJ.
  14. Hey, CoG, that's terrible news about the events in your life. There are heaps of us our here praying for you. If cozog@cozog.com is down, how can we write to you directly? (And thus, importantly, get PayPal payments to you!) Ta, GaJ.
  15. I completely agree with YD's description of how the Hull Down command should work. I think that the CMBB version was well intended but just not right. (At the very least, you need to be able to say "don't go further than this", but YD's suggestion is WAY better). GaJ.
  16. My offer is still open. (Darn, how hard can it be to get a free Mac ??? )
  17. Thanks COG. It has to be said that it would not be what it is without the enthusiastic and patient help of the alpha testers. Stephen, Lou, CoG, GTK, Stingray... all had to put up with endless new updates of McMMM to get it to where it is now. Last time I looked, there were 240+ downloads of McMMM, and I've had one single solitary person who's reported trouble. It's not clear that even that one is a McMMM bug. Either everyone else had problems and gave up in disgust, or no-one had problems: three cheers for the alpha testers! GaJ.
  18. "The Library" at Scenario Depot is different, small and fun. Generally speaking a good recipe for a 2 player PBEM is go to Scenario Depot, look at "the lists" and take one from the top rating 2-player list. Hard to go wrong. GaJ.
  19. Surely there was some modder out there too impatient to wait for CMAK??
  20. Is there a mod that makes russian soldiers look british? Ta, GaJ
  21. I have opened a thread in Scenario Talk on this very topic. Please add your thoughts there - I'd love to discuss, and do something good with this if I can. GaJ.
  22. It has been suggested that a "good thing" for a Mod Manager application would be if it was able to load the Mods that suit a given scenario. This is easy in principle. The tricky question is "how does it know what Mods you want for the scenario?" One could conceive of Scenario designers specifying a list of "recommended mods" for their scenario. But there are two problems with this: 1) More work for scenario designers 2) Specifying a Mod. Mods come in all shapes and sizes and can be found anywhere. How do you say "Use the alternate turret markings from 'winter.zip' inside the 'JoesGroovyTanks.zip' mod that is stored on CMHQ"? This to me sounds like "nice idea, sorry no thanks". OR A Mod Manager could let you (the player) tell it "I have this scenario 'ToTheVolga.cme' and I want these Mods attached to it, so I can load them whenever I go to play To The Volga". THAT is eminently doable. Is it attractive to anyone though? Thanks, GaJ.
  23. It appears I would not be breaching protocol to let you know that there is this thread over in Tips & Tricks. (anyway, it was suggested to me that I let y'all know, so here you are...) Regards, GaJ.
  24. There is an Answer: PBEM Helper It's a _little_ bit fiddly to install and get working, but it is ABSOLUTELY worth it. Never mess around with Zip files or attachments again. Just click on the email message and have Combat Mission start up and load the game ready to play. What more could you ask for? GaJ.
