  1. As you all no doubt know, The Scenario Depot disappeared in a puff of smoke when its ISP vanished. This is a massive hole in our community's resources. Many people have indicated they are willing to help fix it. Let's coordinate in this thread. Current ideas: 1) Adm Keth & COG work together to rebuild something like TSD at cmmods.com 2) Build on The Proving Grounds to make it a home for finished as well as under development scenarios. 3) Over at We Band Of Brothers they are talking about building a WeBoB scenario repository. Personally I think that one "one stop shop" should be replaced by another "one stop shop", and would prefer to see all efforts behind the best "one stop shop" we can come up with. What next? 2. Actually, let's save this thread for the much deserved thanks to ADM (THANKS BUDDY!) and have a new one for "what next"...
  3. Great ideas: 1) Host the new TSD at CMMODS. if not 2) make TPG our one stop shop for scenarios. What's the status of that suggestion? Whatever happens, gregories.net has space and bandwidth now ... if someone wants to help me make it a backup for the new TSD, and a backup for cmmods, let me know how we do it. GaJ.
  4. DD: My frustration (as you know) is ROCKS. Latest I send you was 019... waiting for 020. GaJ
  5. Hey, you're the priviledged one! I haven't been able to even get started on Bear....
  6. With all due respect to VP, one or two players achieving a victory on the "disadvantaged" side does not mean that a scenario is not unbalanced. Isn't it just possible that in those cases the better player had the Brits? Once I get some ROW scenarios moving along properly, I'm looking forward to finding out from Richie how the defense is really supposed to be done. GaJ
  7. Argh! My head is spinning! Has anyone heard from Cuzn? Has he told anyone what he's up to? Ankulin menioned he'd be slow starting, but I haven't heard a peep from Cuzn.... GaJ.
  8. Underway with BigDog, setup sent to Cuzn, waiting to hear from Ankulin...
  9.  Is that really really right? I swear it seems like I bog more going fast!
  10. Ah - well, the hosting service and cajoling to get it all done was me (I'm not sure if Cpl or Ace are still talking to me after the harrasment I gave them ). The website design was Cpl Carrot: hat's off to him too. Which reminds me: if you need any web sites built, or know of any friends that do, Cpl Carrot is in that business and would like to hear from you about work, I'm sure. GaJ.
  11. Thanks guys - it's amazing how a small bit of appreciation makes it all feel worthwhile. On with Round 2: I have sent setup for St Naz, am waiting for setup for Bear, and am in the middle of setting up Tiger. GaJ [ July 02, 2005, 12:40 AM: Message edited by: GreenAsJade ]
  12. Hey - Flenser, you said (in StE) "I didn't expect bogging to be a risk". How can that be? It was _mud_ !!!   I'm cautious about taking tanks off the road in damp! They always seem to bog. I couldn't believe it when my own StE opponent's Sherms merrily waltzed up to the defenders through the mud without a single bog! GaJ.
  13. Elmar: I PDFed and posted your AAR at the AAR pages. FWIW, it took about 5 minutes to do: anyone writing more AARs is welome to send them to me and they'll be duly published. If you send me PDF, that would be great. If you just send me whatever you have that's fine too. GaJ. (note: Flenser's entry still says "opponent's AAR not present" due to a typo on my part... will be fixed in due course). [ July 01, 2005, 07:34 PM: Message edited by: GreenAsJade ]
  14. The AAR judges judeged what was "qualifying". There were guidelines (which I won't repeat here: I'm sure you can find them if you want). Basically, I think it boiled down to "something more than nothing at all". IE one sentence saying "I played this scenario" would not qualify. But Elmar's point that "it's supposed to be fun, not a chore" is very persuasive. The only counter I would offer is "if AARs aren't fun for you, is ROW the right tourney for you?". I would observe that "you will write an AAR" _was_ one of the conditions of entry. There is a worthwhile debate to be had over whether this is right and/or fun... or even whether it really means "you must write an AAR even if it makes it all no fun for you". I'm open-minded on what's best there. Maybe if half the people write an AAR then the scenario designers got what they wanted, and the purpose is served. Except for those players who were looking forward to reading their opponent's AARs... GaJ.
  15. Dawg, you were lucky last time. Next time you wouldn't be getting _any_ tanks across the line ...
  16. Sorry about that - gregories.net changed host recently, and there was this minor hiccup. I've edited the link above - should be right now. GaJ
  17. True - these are good points. Never let it be said I can't listen to a counterargument and have my mind changed GaJ
  18. I am in awe of the BigDuke6 AARs. I dunno if I was every in contention for one of Richie's models, but I'm completely over that idea now! Well done dude (do you have a life!?). GaJ
  19. FWIW I had the same idea as BigD when I saw the number of AARs. I don't think you can disqualify people based on ROW V AAR submissions, because that's making up a rule after the event. But I would strongly advocate including such a thing as part of AAR conditions going forward: don't submit a qualifying AAR in this tournament, don't play in the next one. GaJ
  20. No wukkas. gregories.net needed a new home anyway... now it has one with all the bandwidth I can imagine using for a long time! GaJ
  21. ... for those who don't read the CMAK forum, the ROW V scenarios are published, at The ROW V AAR PAGES. GaJ
  22. After sending thankful thoughts to Ace Pilot and Cpl Carrot for putting it all together, please feel welcome to send your browser to The ROW V AAR PAGES Enjoy. GaJ.
  23. (man, you can rely on family to give you a break, eh?) No hiccups, no coughs, just a suddent burst or RL work that had to be done. However, after mentally sending thanks to Ace and Cpl Carrot, please direct your browser to The ROW V AAR PAGES and enjoy. (It's a new hosting service for me - one with a very reasonable price for the bandwidth we need for AARs. However, if there are problems I'm interested to hear about it. Just be gentle ) GaJ
  24. Excellent. Nothing like reading about the suffering of others to brighten one's day. </font>
