Seems like I got my KV's confused. I must have been thinking about the KV-2 Monster with the 152mm gun, and that's why I was totally scared of that thing. Yeah, I could have checked up it's unit info, but I was so certain that it would be an evil monster...

Is that 76,2 mm gun actually the weak one I seem to remember being used as PAK too?

Okay, need to remember that, anyway. KV-1's are not as evil as KV-2's. I was kinda afraid of the whole family.

I just had a Stug kill a KV-2 so that can be done too!! :D

    Thanks for all the responses.

I know of one that was done from the movie. It is called "Hourre Pobieda !" and it can be gotten from The Scenario Depot.

I will warn you now you BETTER USE THE SNIPER!!!!!!!! This scenario can't be won without him! I know I tried it 8 times before emailing the designer!!!

But it is a learning experience for fighting tanks in open ground.

Another scenario that pits hand held AT Weapons against tanks is "K-2 Pyrrhic Victory" also found on the Scenario Depot.

    Enjoy!! :D

While playtesting HSG Barkmann's Corner, which is currently over on The Proving Grounds, I saw the AI pop smoke with a Sherman and reverse out of LOS. That pleasantly surprised me. Good tactics even for a human player. smile.gif

Matt, could we please get a convoy order in CMx2??!!!! PLEASE??? I'm begging you!!! Just give me an order that one vehicle will follow another one in a nice orderly fashion. Nothing special, very simple in fact. Don't try to run over each other, don't mix speeds, just keep your place in line and move along...that's all I want. Nothing special just a little order out of the chaos. It would make most scenarios much more enjoyable to lose the CM road rage. And while we are at it. Could we lose the CMRB as well? You know the CM reinforcement ball. The one where two platoons come in together as a mixed up ball instead of in clumped groups. Then you spend lots of time, sometimes turns if the ball is big enough sorting them out.

    Thanks in advance.

You shouldn't assume there are troops embarked in my scenarios because I will use trucks and Jeeps/VW's for eye candy in the scenario. They were there in the real fights so I put them in. Not always to use but sometimes to just "be there". So you get the feel of a real location. Not just a jumble of men.

There in lies the fun of doing historical scenarios. Using what they had and yet make it at least a competitive battle.

The Grant is clearly inferior to a Pz IV long, which can kill at much longer ranges with higher accuracy.

Panzertruppen Volume 1 page 178 shows the strengths for 15th and 21st Panzer as having 31 PzIV's with the short barrel. On page 181 there is a picture of 10 PzIVF2's arriving for DAK in May of 1942. So yes there were some there in May 42 but I don't think they had been in combat yet. So Luck was more than likely talking about the short barreled versions used by DAK.

So the Germans probably had a few different perspectives on the matter, too...

The Russians called it 'a grave for seven brothers'.

To my knowledge that is the most descriptive name it was ever given...

  9. If you think you would be interested in being associated with a CM design group come and take a look at us.

Our name is Historical Design Group. We only do historical scenarios as the name implies. Currently we have members in 4 countries. The group started in September and is gaining new members every month.

We support each other through research, scenario developement and playtesting. The group also supports The Proving Grounds playtest site and The Scenario Depot archive site. Our group of designers has more than 70 scenarios, both battles and operations, to their credit. We work hard at putting out the best scenarios that we can for the entire CM system. We support all the titles...CMBO-CMBB-CMAK.

You produce scenarios or playtest at your own pace and with what appeals to you. You make scenarios when you get to them. You playtest what appeals to you. If you have always wanted a say in how scenarios turn out or have scenarios that you want others opinions on then come talk to us.

Send me an email at sroclo@hotmail.com and put HSG for the subject. That way my junk won't catch you.

Have a Happy New Year and I hope to hear from you soon.

Did I imagine this or did I miss something important (which wouldn't be the first time).

Thanks for helping me out on this.

There is a CMAK scenario on The Proving Grounds being playtested that has a Panther in Normandy. The CMAK set will also model most parts of NW Europe. So yes the Panther is there. King Tigers, Hunting Tigers and VG units are not. Nor is the Pershing or Comet. None of these were used in the Med.

I would like to run some mods but don't have a clue about how to start.

You download a Mod from anywhere and put it in a "Mods" directory... with a couple of clicks McMMM installs it into your Combat Mission installation, and backs up the original BMPs (or WAVs).

McMMM keeps track of what Mods are installed at any given time.

If you don't like a Mod, at any time, McMMM can uninstall it again (restoring the original BMP/WAVs in the process), with only a click or two.

That sounds simple enough so where do you make a mods directory? Are there directions to get started on the site?

    Panther Commander

Yes, download McMMM.zip and read the help file contained within ... McMMM.htm.

If you need more help, drop me an email.

(It doesn't matter where you put your mods directory: where ever is convenient for you).

I've a Nvidia 4600 with 30.82 drivers on my XP system.

Never had this problem with CMBB.

    I have anti-aliasing running.

What is strange is that it is very random and is solved if i re-load the same file...

    Any idea ?

It happens to me too. Mostly smoke or while I am in the editor. I have to leave and come back and then it is fine.

I did not have this problem with either CMBO or CMBB. I haven't changed or added a thing.

It's not just the fuel and ammo that goes up, boys and girls...and diesel powered tanks can get just as gunky as the rest.

Don't get me wrong here guys...I get Shermans to burn. I just can't get one to explode!! If I hit a Sherman at a range of under 200 meters with a Panther I expect there to be fireworks by the time I have killed over 20 of them. So far not a single one has exploded. If I killed that same number of ANY other tank in CMBB there would be fireworks for at least a quarter of them.

Something is funny I tell you... :D

    Panther Commander

  16. Since this is the almost official semi-official site for bug reporting, I want to throw in here about my superior Shermans. I have been playtesting a scenario with a Panther. That Panther has over a period of playtests killed more than 20 Shermans. Many of them at under 200 meters. Not a single Sherman blew up. I think this inaccurate.

sorry I have been "out of it" for a while smile.gif

For CMAK whats new and whats Good? (scenarios for the ETO and the Bulge and Normandy?)

    Thanks smile.gif

No Barkmann's Corner is mine. I have it posted on The Proving Grounds at the moment getting playtested. If you want to try it go to The Proving Grounds and download it. Be aware that it is in the Beta version as of yet though. There has been some playtesting done on it already and it plays well. TPG playtesting is just to make sure it is good to go.

You can find A Paratrooper Party on TPG at the moment also. It is a Normandy scenario. I am working on some Bulge scenarios as well. They should be ready to go in awhile.

Thanks for comments - great to hear. I was'nt aware that you could see how many times the scenario had been downloaded. So it was good to see they have had some downloads. I suppose I'm looking for feedback as to whether the scenarios are hitting the mark e.g. accuracy, playability etc. All useful stuff for keeping on improving the general setup and design of scenarios i produce. Looking at other posts the lack of feedback does appear to tune up other designers so guess I'll just have to accept it comes with the territory. Thanks for taking the time to post your positive comments :D </font>

If you want to torch things, shoot at either the 105 close support tanks or flamethrower tanks.

Yes these Shermans do have a (W) in their name. BUT I have playtested the Barkmann's Corner scenario MD is refering to at least 6 times killing more than 20 Shermans in the process and not a single one of them blew up. A couple of them caught fire after a moment but no brew ups. If I was shooting at T-34's some of them would have blown up hitting them from less than 300 meters. And as we all know the T-34 is a much better tank than the Sherman... redface.gif

Just an observation. Not sure if it is right or a bug or what.
