  1. Well,it's may 1942 in my game now. (swallow) And things aren't going smoothly. The Allied powers have invaded France in FULL force.Never seen this before. Here's a summary of what they have pointed towards the european mainland: UK 7 battleships,3 cruisers,2 carriers,1 army ashore,1 corps ashore,1 army off the coast,1 corps off the coast. USA 1 battleship,5 armies ashore,1 army off the coast. also one Free French cruiser, and 7 allied airfleets (L3) are pointing my way! In Russia things aren't soo bright either.Their defences were much thougher with the extra MPP and the added tech levels.Riga has just fallen and Odessa is surrounded. On all other fronts advance is going slowly. The med has fallen in to Axis hands, including Iraq.Spain is on the brinck of surrender. All in all I find this a very challenging campaign,at least for me!The Allies put up a damn good fight. One small remark-with the added naval units for Germany the Russian northern front (Riga,Leningrad) becomes alot more vulnerable.German carriers can easily participate in the bombing of cities,so can their battleships. Oh,I played on expert with no computer bonus. So far I find this a very good campaign, can't wait to play it against a human opponent. to be continued...
  2. JerseyJohn , Having a lot of fun with your Fall Weiss campaign! It's october 1940 in my game as Axis now.Poland,Denmark,LC,France,Norway and Sweden all have fallen. In in the Med theatre axis are pushing Allies towards Suez. You added a lot of units to the game, which garantuees a lot of action in the first part of the campaign.Allied air is really strong!Especially their carriers, they're killing me!I like it. Germany has to struggle a bit to keep up especially with the lend-lease flow of MPP's to Britain. You really spiced it up (for me anyways) One thing seems a bit off though, since USSR starts at 0%,Germany has A LOT of time to prepare for Barbarossa. This is somewhat compensated by the murderous bombing missions in the west and the fact they'll receive 2000 MPP's when they enter,I know. Anyway,I'll continue and let you know. Thanks again for renewing my interset in AI-play!
  3. Instead of going for the cities with political or symbolical importance,Hitler followed the original directive of Barbarossa :'to destroy the Russian forces deployed in the west and to prevent their escape into the wide-open space of Russia.' Already from July 1941 he choose for the methodical destruction of the enemy. A simple outline, but vastly complex and elusive in practice. After the first major victories the German front broadened and the divisions fanned out.Supply, maintenance, auxiliary service all became more and more difficult. And thus the original plans layed down by Halder and Warlimont were very soon put aside. [ September 03, 2003, 07:53 AM: Message edited by: kurt88 ]
  4. Thanks for the good word Disorder. Summer is drawing to an end, time is precious. German troops move further into France destroying two more corps south of Paris.Another one is damaged north of the proud capital. The Italians almost destroy a retreating French corps.Still no kill for the Mussolini guys.
  5. I tried to start a PBEM with someone who has the German version of the game.I have the English version, both are patched to 1.07.When he tries to load my save game he get's the message 'unreadable file'. Is there anything to fix this? [ September 02, 2003, 01:22 PM: Message edited by: kurt88 ]

  8. JerseyJohn , I would really like to try out your revised Fall Weiss compaign. If you cold send it to me I would be glad to offer some feedback.
  9. Late july 1940, After the total annihilation of Allied forces in Germany, the war continues in the west.More German armies are being brought in position for the final attack on Paris.A French corps in the Parisian suburbs was easily destroyed.Another one near the channel was brought down to strenght one. Also just south of Paris an RAF bomber squadron was taken out of action by German special forces A British force that was trying to land near Brussels was also heavily damaged/destroyed at sea. In the Baltic an English battleship was destroyed by joint efforts of the luftwaffe and the German navy. On the Italian front, the French corps that was advancing towards Rome was brought down to five strenght. An Italian Army opens the attack on Marseille with little succes. Already elements of the German 'fifth colonne' wave our victorious flag above Paris [ August 31, 2003, 08:41 AM: Message edited by: kurt88 ]
  10. More units destroyed in Germany, only French corps survives (if I'm not mistaken). French Army just outside Paris destroyed.Axis now in the suburbs (finally). Fighting in the waters near Denmark ceased, both sides retreat. [ August 30, 2003, 08:02 PM: Message edited by: kurt88 ]
  11. Look in the opponent's finder forum, sometimes it's a bit slow there, but if you hold on,you'll eventually find somebody.I'll be there later on. And I'm sure others will be there too. [ August 30, 2003, 12:58 PM: Message edited by: kurt88 ]
  12. Could be interesting, best way to try it out is to have a game with this bidding.(let's start a game ) It involves quite a bit,so finding a good balance could take a while but it could give some good results. Oak does have a point though,3 chits already on air on turn 1 would only add to the air war.
  13. Yes,so players could make their scenarios as historical or ahistorical as they please. But I think for this event-engine to work at best,it's necessary for SC2 to become a bit expanded. On the level of diplomacy things would have to be more than just :' neutral ; allied ; axis ' Minors should be convinced to join one of the two factions. The engine could help to keeps things historical. Something like: 'Support coup in Romania ? ' : yes or no -if yes then (a few turns later, exact date to keep it historical) 'Romanian puppet installed,Romania sends X (oil, iron, steel or mpp's) to Germany' : accept? -yes then : Transfer of shipment and Romania X´% towards nazism. -no then: Relations cooled,no shipment,Romania x´% towards allies. and so on,an event created diversity of minors joining or not. Allies could have 'share research' events, shipments from US before it really joined the Allies (which is historical),... And then of course random events. On the level of research some added techs would help. Also it's good to have 2 or 3 goods that in turn produce mpp's (oil, iron, steel),moreover on a bigger map, I think.
  14. Great ideas! SC2 (IMHO) should become more event-driven,like CORE HOI,this is a community mod for Hearts of Iron.It containes over a hundred events, both random and historical, and when they pop-up the player is asked to choose between several options. These choices then further influence the gameplay both diplomatically and research wise. If SC2 then was equipped with an editor to create your own events.... Possibilities are endless. Ooh,here's the Core website if anyone wants to take a look at it: Core HOI If you look at the 'Finished' section you can glance at tons of events that are included in the game! Just imagine some of these in SC2! [ August 28, 2003, 04:26 PM: Message edited by: kurt88 ]
  15. June 30,1940 In France all three Maginot hexes are destroyed,a French Army next to the most southern M-hex was destroyed. An invading Canadian and British corps were destroyed north of Munich. All Allied forces in Germany are cut off and at low strenght. Italian corps attacks along the channel doing minor damage to a French corps. German troops two hexes from Paris are reinforced. So far the good news... Off the coast of Norway an English cruiser has been destroyed, also a sub pack reduced an British battleship to half it's strenght. German forces in Norway seem lost,no supply and no help can be expected to come soon. Royal Navy advancing to the Baltic, they seem unstoppable. Diarrhea creeps back inside the Fuhrerbunker
  16. I think it says :Big anti-bolshevik show (?) in Karlsruhe. June 16 1940, Berlin, Hitler's chambers, way past his bedtime- Ooooh EVA!!!!...... You're right, this phony allied counterattack is destined to fail! What were they thinking going into Germany without proper backup or supply! It's all coming back to me now...the plan. next morning's staff meeting- Hitler : 'Gert,I made up my mind. You'll continue as planned with the Norwegian invasion...and counter attack in the west. German elite bicycle corps advancing to Oslo evening's staff meeting von Rundstedt : 'Mein Fuhrer, the day has been long and bloody but we are glad to report that the invasion of Norway went according to plan. The Oslo corps has been completely destroyed. In the west we achieved great victories as wel. With the aid of the Luftwaffe German units have destroyed a French corps west of the Maginot line and captured the mine there.A British corps south of Munich that was invading our heimat was brought down to a thenth of its strenght. Also German SS city patrol units report that no German city is in danger.' Hitler after hearing von Rundstedts report Italian Front still inactive. 17. Although I have not been so active on this forum as the most of you (and certainly not as JerseyJohn, the guy has over 2000 posts!) I would like to add that that this forum rocks! Why? Because it's funny! All these different personalities come together here, you got Rambo,THE LEGEND,you got Kuniworth,THE MERRY PRANKSTER,you got JerseyJohn,a f#cking encyclopedia of knowledge and poster of the most amazing pictures, and so many others all contributing in their own special way. And they are all wargamers,... wargamers and they all manage to be funny! Guys I may have not been here for long but I vote this is the best forum community in the world!!! So despite all the recent events, let's not abandon SC,if not THE greatest game ever! And as far as Hubert and the moderators go, if they're smart they'll give us some inside information on what's coming or ain't coming! PEACE
  18. MAy 26,1940 von Rundstedt : 'Mein Fuhrer,I'm glad to report that our best divisions have forced another gap into the French line. Two French Armies have been destroyed by combined air and land attacks! Our victorious armies are just two hexes away from Paris!' Hitler : 'Yes,yes, get it over with already there with those Françoser! Look Gert what Eva bought me!' Hitler : 'You know,Gert, being on the toilet for 4 hours a day ,gave me alot of time to plan my next move! Once the eiffeltower has been redecorated,we'll send your divisions east! Stalin forgot all about my birthday,no present,no congratulations, nothing! Luckily Eva remembered. And we did even give him his piece of Poland! It's about time we taught him a lesson.Goebbels already supports the plan,he even gave me this for my birthday.' von Rundstedt : 'Jawhol, mein Fuhrer, but then we'd better wake up those damn Italians, they failed to take Malta, they ran away from one RAF unit. And their French front is still inactive!'
  19. Yeah, come on Kuniworth,I still have to play you in Z-league!
  20. The German Army opens the offensive in France in earnest.Hitler, finally recovered from his acute diarhea, sends his crack divisions smashing into the French lines. Aided by an overwhelming display of airpower by the Luftwaffe, two German armies easily destroy an entrenched French Army next to the Maginot line. Goring gets permission to go buy an evenmore decorated uniform. The Italian front stays inactive.
  21. Yeah, this game sucks,my girlfriend just beat me in a hotseat game!
  22. She decided it was better she took command, sending me to do the dishes! Anyone else had their girlfriend/wife play wargames?
  23. No it's not,I assume you're referring to Joan of Arc?
  24. My girlfriend was so bored the other night, she decided to boot up SC after seeing me spend hours behind this 'stupid, boring' game. She started the Fall Weiss campaign as Axis on the easiest level and guess what.... She's conquered whole of Russia, build an ENORMOUS army and now is kicking the Allies back into the sea!!! I'm getting worried! [ August 25, 2003, 05:25 PM: Message edited by: kurt88 ]
