  1. If your looking for Theater or Group leaders of WWII the best was:

    Nimitz: He is the only one (beside the some of the Russian Generals) that defeated his opponent when he did not have the number, tech or experenced troop advantage. From 1941-1943 Japan had the advantage in at least one if not all three of these areas and his 'troops' beat them in almost every engagement. Sometimes it wasn't pritty but they won.

    The best example was the turning point battle of Midway.

    There is a Forum/Folder below that is for finding people to play - post there and wait/hope someone responds (boninza is looking right now I think)

    - Note that the above mentioned forum is slowly dieing (3 months ago you could be a game in 30 min, now you could wait 2 hours or more). So you might want to try and schedule a game time with one of the poster.

    Dragonheart post on the use of ICQ for finding players. I can't use it but many have stated that it works great - it should be somewhere in the last three pages

    Curry is running a PBEM league that works well. I personally dont' enjoy PBEM as much as IP but it very time convenient. I think that post has been bumped and should be in the first page or two.

    As I first posted, glad you notified everyone that there were/are cheat programs 'out there'. But who are you playing that this is constantly comming up? I see alot of AARs with Zapp and some others, is this a left handed way of saying something? I don't play even close to that number of games you do, but I have yet (I think) to see this problem. Could you be more specific!

    BTW - Border units - 6 corps, two in citys - all withing 2 hexs of border - all above Soughern MT hexs - should work fine. Yes there is a 'sticky' area around when your miners join, but its minor. And 10% is nothing in Russian readiness, if it is then you've lost already, so just keep and eye on the readinees and adjust as required.

    Breakdown - I'm sure you know this already - this is not perfect but works 95% of the time.

    Before France - 1 corps in city

    After France - 2 corps - in citys

    After Baltic states die - 4 corps - 2 in city

    before Hun & Rom - 6 corps - 2 in city

    When Russia reachs 90% - operate all and give it the one big punch the next turn.

    I havn't tested this, but by adding only a few extra units beyond this Russia will get mad and incress readiness by 10% per turn.

    The bigest problem (that I've seen) is when france lasts a long time (LC gambit) and in one turn you get hit by; France falls, Minors join, Russia has or does absorve the Baltic states. Or any combination of these three.

  4. In a non-bid game attacking the baltic states and going after Russia early can be fun. But you would need to defeat France before June 1940 and quickly knock off a few minors for the plunder (norway, sweden, Greece ?)

    However, you'll be lagging in tech and MPPs and there is no bonus to defeating (triggering ST) early. Expect to lose but it will create a fun, rather odd game.

  5. Quick and dirty on stoping Sealion (only guidelines) any operation can be countered so this is not 100% proof.

    1) Never give up London easily unless the act will bring USA and USSR in very quickly (the next turn or two)

    2) Look for the Axis HQs and sink them in transport form (bomber works best). With out these HQs the troops on UK soil will be useless

    3) England has two natural line of defence. First means holding London and a line running NW to Manchester. After London falls keep the line in the first MT hex runnning NE.

    4) Don't stick the HQ in Manchester - its better to keep it in one of the Northern MT hexs after London falls.

    5) IF the axis don't place a garision in London after it falls use the bomber to turn the city to rubble - without the extra supply pts from London the axis ground units will be very weak.

    All of this can be easily defeated with LR tech - If germany can get L2 LR and equal Jets early - UK is screwed!

  6. Would anyone be interested in a PBEM game? Up to Four factions could be something worth seeing!.

    Maybe, but I have 0 understanding of the game and would need some time to read/test it out. Getting that many people to play PBEM would be interesting but very slow as some will be gone, working ect.

    And yes, I want better graphics - where are the designers, they need to patch this baby right now!

  7. This is almost a non-answer but I would (I'm no expert)

    1) Uninstall SC

    2) Run disc scan / defrag / and any other support program to 'clean' your computer (Sounds like you have a corupt SC program if its not your internet connection or your firewall)

    3) delete you 1.07 patch - redownload patch

    4) reinstall SC - patch ect..

    5) review you security system and put settings to very low or off

    6) test - play AI - Play PBEM - now try IP

    7) move sucurity settings up if #6 works and try again.

    OK weak suggerstions but I don't see any of the computer smart people answering yet.

  8. How does it work? Simple, it's a no BS system & low maintanence system. Get online, play alot of SC, post AARs, talk smack, & have fun. There's no divisions, no rating system, no anything. Just be online & be cool playing SC. It's all about being in uniform & grabbing some glory anyway you can get.

    I like this, too bad I'll be working those days. Still I'll check in one or two mornings and see who is around for a game. Its that or go to my other job playing poker for 3-6 hour strech's for my 'fun' money.
  9. As you said the 'golden days' of SC are behind us. I'm sure a new group (headed by you?) will take over and liven the board and IP play, but maybe not.

    Citys and ports have a sight range of 1. It a common misconsecption that they have two - and its a good way to make some 'Ranger Raids' (Rambos term, not mine).

    Nice post on the IP/IQC - perhaps I'll spend a few hours and figure it all out.

  10. New list - Just for fun :confused: as the death of this game/forum is near.

    1) If the allies conduct the LC gambit, Italy will incress in readineas 10% PER turn that germany has a unit next to the LC capital

    2) Air fleets that are 'defending' will carry the AA tech bonus with them in combat.

    3) There is a river hex NW of Staingrad that only requires one AP to cross. A secret ford for the german invaders to use.

    4) Because of the different NA and ND (4 and 2) values for air fleets, its always best to use air fleets in the intersecption role against Carriers, and not the attack role.

    5) Major Power Capitals will 'repair' at 2 pts per turn, not the normal 1 point per turn you see with all other resources.
