  1. Sergei quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Originally posted by Hans: One could also make it an assembly line operation with a number of people stripping maps and sending them to you for organization and preparation for posting. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now that's good thinking, there. Go ahead Sergei....it wont be me;)
  2. Yes....Its probably better i dont post this lot with no info about where the maps came from. I might start again, i dont know. Ah hell; maybe i will stick to making a few myself again. I agree on that its 'not-done'. If i decide to go for a new lot, i shall make the makers name visable somewhere, and also contact them about it. But i might decide not to, since its alot of work, for really something that should not take up so much time and effort. Stripping the maps down doesnt take much time, indeed. Changing them to play a differend type of battle on, takes a bit more time...but doesnt give the maker much respect. It would be better to keep these private, and for own use. I have my 60 now and we are quit happy about it; it makes choozing and playing a game for us more fun now... ...
  3. WWB; thats just the problem. I downloaded every scenario and every map available from the depot. Its a bulk. And just renamed the once i changed to map1 and so on. Now there are 60 al called by number and looking up who made witch is pretty hard. IF Hans is Wayne (Hans) Ruthlegde, i know atleast 15 or so are from his hand. (Since he makes such good maps, and also alot of them) I know one is from Fredrock, since i played that one in cmbb to playtest for him (guess he converted it)...as for the others, i could do a search, looking through the downloads, but linked those up with the same looks, means i have to memorize what i see and then search al 60 just to find one match...and that over and over... Since u wouldnt like me to go ahead on posting your map along, i could download your scenarios again and take a look at those if one of those is used now, and take them out, if so. I would do that. no problem.
  4. Hello. well, where to start... Some of u might know i have made alot of maps for cmbb. I used to make those just because i liked to make them and for playing my brother on. Ive made a few new ones since i now have cmak aswell, but after downloading all scenarios and maps from the depot i thought to myself; whats the use in making maps with all these so well playable, nice looking and so differend ones around? So what i did, since my brother and me need maps for games, i converted what i thought would make the nicest game possibliltys for us; taking away the units, replacing flags and setupzones, cutting down the maps in size, changed some elements and so on. about 52 of them (i think round 8 of these are made by myself), and renamed them simply, map1 up untill map60. My brother and i already played two of these... My question now would be, i mean i would like to post this in a mappack if others would like to save some time when choozing a map to play someone on...but what do the makers of scenarios think?...is this undone?...would any of u be offended by this?; your hard work being taken away?...Please remember that your scenarios will be played by some anyway, and others might change your scenarios to quickbattle maps at home anyway...i think most do. And i would not be taking any credit at all for the malking of the maps. (however i dont remember al makers of the maps i used...so its pretty hard to all ask u personaly) Just think of it as a mod. Have i thought this through enough? i mean what if, lol, one of u scenario makers sais no i dont want u to do this, so i should take his map out? i dont know witch, so it al stops right there;) yeah great; im being so smart;) anyway, if noone minds i will go ahead with it say next week or week after. Cause its so very good to have maps to chooze and start games on emediatly. ...so what u say? [ October 07, 2004, 08:33 AM: Message edited by: theike ]
  5. (the downloads are running......) ...so, what tank are u going to tackle now? ...(seriously; you are not going to stop now, are u?) ...
  6. What about a Apache helicopter in WWII? I can think of a few battles in witch it would have reacked havoc... and indeed its not like the Palestinians have anything of match to the Israelian army, for sure they dont even have an army, just some secondhand Russian guns, selfmade bombs, and some poor kids that throw stones. And more so, if your talking about rescent 'urban fighting'? its far from what i would call a warfare, if going in shooting down 3 houses (killing 5 inhabitants in the meanwhile) and not having any recistance at al, but for a few sivilliance that pick up one or two guns... But that al doesnt matter. i will pick the Apache Helicopter;)
  7. I noticed in Irak just recently that the great wonders of mordern construction as the best tanks in the world today with that best trained amerikan troops in it are called.....could not at all take a town. So nothing really changed, since towns and cultivated land is what most wars are fought for and about. One needs men for that, that can be pushed around and let be digged in like mise. (vietnam)...Oh, and machines took the Afghan lowland but the country is still not freed in the highlands. [ September 15, 2004, 04:34 AM: Message edited by: theike ]
  8. In my opinion, in gaming, only the 'lamers' want to use a nick like 'im the leader', like 'im God', like 'Hitler'. I never played anybody with anick like that that could stand losing a game. But thats al about my 3dshooter experience. I dont know what the people in this game think about a name like that. If others dont mind, and u turn out to be a descent person, and hey; why wouldnt u;)...i wont need to say another word about it. (because indeed; i'd rather not.) ...still: name using that provoces the other player like this is kind of childish, isnt it?
  9. Tall buildings? are there tall buildings in CM? Tall pines u mean? (in witch engineers can climb as we al know) And the AI should try to stick to cover when it runs towards the flags it so badly wants. There should be a rule for troops to wait with the aproach untill its platoon or say HQ (if still alive) is around...more so: there should be a rule for the AI not to give up positions on other flags to go and get back the (just one) the attacker captured. 10. Yes, i would second that: what a bad nick choice that is. If this would be a online 3dgame u would surely get banned (or atleast kicked by me) for having that nick. It dont do my heart much good, reading a nick like that. I hope u understand...
  11. I just did, Patton...the map along with the topografical pic i took it from. Hope it will satisfy your needs;)
  12. I just posted a map of Siracusa. One of a kind i wanted to make. to be able to play it better; read the tip given in the info of the download. ...
  13. What would the good man do but come in and smile a bit..... (like a person run down by a car would look up from the road he just got nailed to, trying to make out what it was that hit him, acknowledging it, maybe, but then for the better lack of interaction just do that good old smile, (before he tries to get up again)
  14. Thanks, Teddy...yes i post any maps that are playable, i mostly save them up to post mappacks, but cmak is new now, and im still a bit excited;) Junky...thanks for the many example maps u send me. Really nice work from Lucho there. Pitty the battle gets so well documented, even in movement maps, but a topografical map of the area isnt available...The pictures posted on the link u gave make my view now a real cubistic one;) It really takes alot of hard work to unraffle this to a clear view of the place. So u use informations like this to create scenarios?...Junky, if there are real specific battles u want the map for, and of witch u have descent information, just send me a link, or email the info to me... I might try a map on the one mentioned just before...(im trying to get my head around it;) But like Lucho sais; man its hard....
  15. didnt u know sleeping itself is just another mod for gamers?..
  16. I like your mods, Aristoteles, and i use them...for cmbb that is; i made the choice not to even start with the modding on the cmak game... (i should try to stay happy with the looks of it like it is;) (for now, just for now...hmm) To alot of the cmbb ones they are really a good step ahead. But i wanted to post this because i saw your mod and thought: Wouldnt there be sand, and so yellowish to dark brown in every little groove where there is place for it the stick underneath and between things?...Or would it be so dry it would be picked up by the wind again, sooner or later? (Dont know they might have even washed/cleaned them from time to time) btw: this look your working on is a pretty cool one.
  17. The scan i send u Junky is smaller then the one im keeping, else i wouldnt be able to send it. Its just a 200% scan from my worldatlas. So i could make the same scans from kinda every spot on earth. It amazed me how much more there is to see just by enlarging it. There is no map of the Marshall or Caroline islands in it though. What other places took part in the pacific war? Phillipenes? Indonesia?...oh, and south east asia itself ofcourse. Did u already make some maps for the pacific theatre yourself? If u did i could before i start take a look at them for a kind of a guide on how to go about at it.... [ September 04, 2004, 04:17 AM: Message edited by: theike ]
  18. I just posted 5 maps on the scenario depot... 3 are sandground maps mainly small engagements on a wee town/village. 1 is a AridRock map, with large vineyard fields, small hills and also a small village (that one started out as a France based map, but i changed the cornfields into pineyards and a lil less trees...so it could be easily changed back into a France type of map)...niway, looks good like this, bit strange maybe for North Africa, dont know. And 1 France dirtground map, densely cultivated farmland. (thought about posting the Amazon hidden base one aswell but decided not to, jet) For the Pasific island request i scanned the Solomon islands and many other island groups in that great big ocean...so, Junky?...what if i send u that scan, and let u pick out some places of interest?.... ps: I DO want those Normandy maps of yours, Bogdan...
  19. Aha, Bogdan...its funny u mention that...i just scanned in the Normandy region from my Michelin map, scale 1:200.000 But your maps should be much better on 1:25.000. (Ive seen a great Normandy beach to inland map from Uzi on The Proving Grounds) ... It would be good of u to send me what u have (theoslaats@home.nl)...i dont know when or witch maps i will make of the Normandy region, but i probably will sooner or later. I myself have alot of topografical books, and maps...especialy from Europe ofcourse. I dont know what the American people can buy over there, so if any of u need something just ask and i look what i have. I also scanned a city map of Taranto, anyone interested? (citys i have alot of) Maps of Italy on a scale close to 25:000 would be most welcome. [ September 02, 2004, 09:20 AM: Message edited by: theike ]
  20. Cornelius; Ive done a map for it. I picked a place in my atlas called Porto do Moz, (between Santarém and Belém, at the river Xingu) (the hidden base is on opposite bank of that town) I will send u the pic of it that i scanned from the atlas along with the email i will send u when u told me your email;) U dont have an email in your profile... After youve seen the map im willing to make changes on it to better suit your wishes. ... [ September 02, 2004, 12:30 PM: Message edited by: theike ]
  21. 'secret Nazi base in South America' I would like to give that a try. Ill get back to u on that..
  22. Pasific islands (hmm...) Italy 1500 points (...) (:just making notes ) Give me some time. Europa; and i would love to do the same to your maps... oh ps: yes Junky...i just last night made 2 sand based small attack maps. I really love those little sand maps. I will make some more [ September 01, 2004, 09:03 AM: Message edited by: theike ]
  23. Greets, Europa you still making scenarios? Europa? I had not noticed there was no factory anymore...lol Yes thats could be missed at times. (a harbour without depots, or barracks without barracks;) hmm...yes that is a pitty. North Africa didnt have alot of factorys back then, but Italy surely did. gonna have to get around that, somehow... Why dont u post some of your maps on the proving grounds?...who knowes they might be used...
  24. Hello everybody (just saw my old friend Europa...a special hello to him;) im playing around some in the map editor for cmak. I have to say i just love the terrain differences; the three ground types. the possibility to make landscapes from Africa to France and germany etc. Knowing me i will probably be making up to 30 maps in the next few months... (and will throw those away by posting them on the cmmods database) I dont see many maps on the scenario depot for cmak...are there still people that need maps to play a friend on?...i mean not being a scenario? (well probably...) Ohyes, and also: any sites found on where to find detailed topografical maps of Italie, Africa and France... Or let me ask that differently: any sites of topografical maps to be found...the more details the more welcome. ...and hello, cmak-players.
  25. did i see that correctly? 200 maps in just one month?... Is your idea to make al these separate maps like u walk through them?...i mean the map after the first being what terrain would lie walking over the edge of the one before? U could if u like use some of my maps from my mappacks posted on cmmods...there is alot of different stuff in there and in my oppinion they are mostly made to be played pretty tactically. (editing those will save u alot of time) If im interested?...mostly i dont go to war on rules i dont know about;) so i couldnt say. (i was just wondering about the maps) Its always good to just go ahead...people might join in later when they see what its al about. [ September 01, 2004, 05:01 AM: Message edited by: theike ]
