  1. You need to have the ability to generate a random number between 1 and 10. There are a number of methods for this, the rules come with a random number sheet, or you can roll a ten sided die or there are about 3 online die roller programs to chose from, whatever the method, do it. Then apply the -4 modifier to that number. Then match the new modded number with the numbers on the left of the rule sheet and that is the battle, ie. you roll a 7, with a -4 modifer this is 3 which is an Axis Probe. That is really all you need to know to get the rules going. Just keep doing that for all the parameters, start up a "dummy" game to get a task force rolled up, then buy your battle group and go kick, well what ever it is you want to kick, you have a battle group under your command. This process will seem long, hard and tedious the first 3 or 4 times, then it gets much easier and faster, then it is 4 am, you have to be at work in 4 hours, but you just have to know what kind of battle is next, then what kind of task force, then what does the map look like, then it is 5. Hope this helps, the forum is a great way of getting you questions answered, and always remember, if something doesn't seem right or you don't fully understand it, make it up. These rules are a guide line, not a set in stone if you don't do this exactly right you have failed the test kind of thing. I have been playing for a couple of months now and have "modded" the rules quite a bit to take into account my experience (or lack of ) and play prefrences.
  2. I used to work in Game production so I know better then to ask "When?" Good idea releasing them a few at a time, less work on the server, because as soon as these mods are available, it will be about 24 hours of download madness. Thanks for the work, and you get this done, when you get this done, (crosses fingers and hopes Mike T doesn't have a life, or want one in the near future. )
  3. Soon I am going to have to demand a stop to this blantant teasing. These mods look so good, and the work you have done to incorporate them all into CMMOS is truly outstanding. It is getting hard to wait for these mods to be released. Thanks for all the hard work going into these.

  6. To all the real trolls on this thread, first of all, if you don't like the turn signal blinking, don't look at it, or change lanes. No one made you enter this thread. Also if you will re read the above quote I think you will see that he mentioned the engine rewrite SHOULD include a campaign feature. Not that CMBB SHOULD include it. This is a forum to discuss ideas about the game, just because everyone here hasn't read all the posts, for all time, is no reason to flame the guy. I think he has good ideas, obviously few of us are coders on this site so we can't appreciate the difficulty in 'Why can't the AI Attack, defend, make me coffee, suggest good music to play to, and make the game hard, but still let me win everytime, while modeling the fact that my 3rd squad's seargent just had his boots untie and bent over and therefore was not wounded by that shrapnel.' Just don't make this one of those, "I'm scared to post because I don't know the standard OOB for the read army durning the Kursk Offensive." or whatever. Sorry if this post is a little flamey (hypocritical even) I am still only halfway through my first cup of coffee this morning.
  7. You are right, sorry, after hearing all the fear mongering in the media today I have just been a little testy. BFC has every right to monitor their forums in the way they see fit. In truth they are right to limit the language. I just had a bit of a knee jerk reaction. Back to the reason I started this thread, my roommate and I had a good laugh at your sig.

  9. I just got this sig off the the Onion.com "What do you think" page. Often I see some pretty funny sigs, so I just wanted to see who thought they have funny sigs. This sig made my roommate and I laugh out loud, what about yours?
  10. Maybe I am just a BFC Fanboy, but I honestly do not believe the AI cheats in the CM games. In my experience it is just much more common to remember and talk about the times you got 1 shotted by a conscript KV-1 at over 1000m twice in one battle, then the time your PzIII got behind a platoon of T-34s and killed all but one of them. (yes I play the Axis primarly) I have heard said a 1000 caresses can be erased with a single sting.
  11. Sgt Goody reminds me of the battle two before this in this particular campaign. I dropped two full 75mm Arty spotters and 1 full 81mm Spt on a gun in the middle of a road, true it was in a trench, but during this barrage it managed to take out three tanks. The barrages were staggered because I just couldn't believe it was still alive. Yes I should have just dropped smoke in front, but each time I thought no way is it still alive. Finally although there were better targets I decided to drop a full 150 spt on it. Got it and it's crew, ah sometimes the illogical, but personal grudges against the AI are so fulfilling. (when you win of course)

My forces were all individuals. 2 PzIIIG 1 PzIIIH 1 PzIVE 3 Psw 221 1 7.9mm ATR 1 Tank Hunter 1 Panzer Comp - 1 50mm mortar 1 81mm Spotter 4 tube 1 75mm Spotter 4 tube All with 60% ammo, the AI was only supposed to have 10% ammo, but we all know that is a lie. The Allies were 1 KV-1, 2 Plt of T-34, 3 Plt of T-26 and a handful of single tankettes, and of course a little over 1000 inf. didn't bother to see exactly the OOB. Like I said I am not claiming this to be a bug or anything really out of the ordinary other then a pretty good string of bad luck. Reminder to self, next time I get a string of good luck report it on this post also, then head straight to Las Vegas.

Axis \ Allies Men OK 4\839 Total Casualties 94\276 Men Killed 19\61 Men Captured 70 Mortars Destroyed 2\1 Vehicles Destroyed 7\9 Final score of said battle, I finally saw the AI's KV-1 shoot at my PzIIIG 3 times with only one hit killing a crew member, the it took another 2 shots to finish it off, not that the KV couldn't have come down off the ridge, done circles around the PzIIIG and then just RUN OVER IT. But at least it took 5 shots to kill, and all this under 400m. Well looks like it is time to retire this company to the great, eh, well were ever Panzer companies go to when they are completely decimated. Looks like this is just a sign I should complete my work on the Biltong's Campaign Rules player guide and the start up a new v2.0 campaign. Ah to make it out of the summer in the rules. Burner out, way out.
  14. I am currently playing a game ,early 41 Reg. Axis vs. Green Allies. Biltong's rules, open map no trees. And no ****, I have yet to see the enemy AFV's miss more then two rounds before plugging my AFV's at ranges over 1000m. My AFV's have yet to hit anything within their first 4 shots :mad: , unless the range is less then 300m, then it only took the tank 3 shots. I have PzIIIG's so the good optics and 50mm should be ok at range. While the enemy T-34's and KV-1 are just dead eyes. I have been one shoted twice already, at a range of over 800m!!!! I am not claiming this is a bug or anything other then bad luck, but HECK HECK HECK!!!! Will I get no breaks this battle. Sorry everyone just had to vent a little. When defending open nearly flat terrain with an understength Inf Comp, and 4 AFV's, and 3 armored cars (who at least can hit things without 4 "warning" shots) against 2 platoons of T-34s, 1 KV-1, 2 or 3 platoons of T-26, and at least 2 battalions of inf, you hope for at least an even exchange in the tank battle. Thanks for listening I feel better, just previewed my post and it is especially funny after rereading my sig. Burner out.
  15. Other Means, Rule sets are the files that tell CMMOS what to do with the bmps and all that. You can get that and all other CMMOS needs fullfilled at... http://www.combatmission.com/cmmos/cmmos.asp In each section the top download should be the rule set. When you start up CMMOS for the first time install the rulesets first. Hope that helps
  16. Any word on the effects of a flamethrower? Last night in a game I had a german flame thrower empty its ammo at a KV-1 to no effect. Well the FT died as the freaked from lack of ammo and ran in the open, but no other effect. I have seen it work in other games versus other armor, so is it a function of armor thickness, shape of vehicle, subsystem placement?

  18. I just went to the Combat Mission World, I see a ton of Pacific, Finn, and other mods but no CMMOS section. Is it just not obvious to me, or are you waiting till all the mods are completely CMMOS compliant before posting? Sorry for all the questions it is just hard to contain my excitement seeing all those CMMOS mods are almost done. I need more mods, NEED more CMMOS mods. Someone please help the CMMOS addict.
  19. BritishBulldog, I use the provisional force size. That way I get a good variety of units and is one less parameter to change when I start up the "real" battle. The nice thing about these rules is to remember that they are open to change. If something doesn't make sense to you, either research it on the forum here, or just make something up. A couple of games and you will know if you made a good choice or not, if you made a good choice come here and post it.
  20. Besides the general improvement to the graphics engine that is a given with a total rewrite. I want a video record mode, allowing the entire battle to be seen as one movie, preferably with various FOW settings. ie. See the battle through the Axis' eyes, or the allies eyes, or as all units or visible. This would be my number one choice addition. An integrated campaign, Battlefront should contract Biltong and his team. This is also my number one choice addition. (sorry couldn't decide which is more important, decided to make them both the most important.) And of course dancing girls to deliver the next game personally to my door, the moment it goes gold. Truly this one is the most important to my enjoyment of the next game. Thanks for listening Battlefront.
  21. I have nothing to add to this unfortunately, I just wanted to say I have frequented many game forums in my life and hated all of them, until I found this one. Threads like this are the reason. Someone asks quite possibly the most obscure question I can imagine. There are not 1 or 2 responses but a ton of info starts flowing. On all aspects of the questions, with helpful links, pictures, and not ONE stupid response. Until this one of course. :]
  22. I just started the ROWIII tourney, so haven't played the Camp. in a couple of weeks. Before that I was playing 2 to 3 campaign battles a night. Trying to stick to the core rules and not all the forum mods. With this update thought I might have to start up a new one. Really I just wanted to say, WOW. This is exactly what CM needed to take it over the top as one of the greatest Social life killers of all time. (is that a good thing? I think so, but then again everyone says I am a little sick in the head ) Please keep up the great work. Claude, I was thinking about writing a first battle walk through also. If you want some help just email me, I would love to help.
