    I found division's journal: https://pamyat-naroda.ru/documents/view/?id=130019938

On page 4 is table with personell numbers. Division had 7500 men. (Note that it was reinforced division, that was moved from reserve.)  That's why so narrow front. On 1.2.45 division had 6100 men. Page 25 - maps.

The Soviets usually forced anyone into service they could lay their hands on, so their units were (much) stronger than reported.

Here, here! Toss the dogs of war a bone.

I'm, still, holding out hope Fire & Rubble will be released before Cyberpunk 2077.

Before the Christmas holidays would be great, although my wife won't agree with that.

Btw Douglas E.Nash released the second volume of his trilogy on the IV.SS Panzerkorps, covering the Budapest relief efforts in December 1944 until February 1945, called From the Realm of a Dying Sun. I have it in my hands while I type this and it is as good as the first volume, which is high praise. Nash is superb. Good company for the coming Fire and Rubble module. Recommended.

Btw, does anybody know whether Douglas E. Nash is related to George H. Nash, the author?

In an effort to raise the level of conversation again - why camouflage is important plus some hazel bushes and trees ... there's hazel in the bocage as well, but this view caught my eye ...

Raw image for those who like it that way ... with a bit of @RockinHarry's movie shader tweaks applied

There's a hazelnut in every bite ...🌰 (okay, so they don't have a hazelnut emoji, it's close, and may well make its own appearance ...)

I think it both looks bloody brilliant.

Yes.  Seasons 1 and 3 were xnt.  Season 2, so-so.

The possible problem with an air war version "follow up" to BoB is the air combat part tends to be limited and then to establish characters and relationships it's all back at base or local town where they all drink like horses (natch) and have fights over the love interests.  So, all cliches.

    Yes, inevitable.

Yeah, I am with you on that Aragorn2002.  did you read his latest, set in middle ages?  I thought it was quite good.

Not yet, danfrodo, but I will pick them up at Amazon for a couple of pounds sooner or later. If you love medieval stories like I do, I can also recommend the Templar series by K.M. Ashman. What a writer!

I have dozens of paperbacks from all those brilliant English writers, that I haven't read yet. At the moment I'm reading the Captain Korolev series by William Ryan, about a police investigator in Stalinistic Moscow. Brilliant stuff. So much to read and so little time, even now in the reign of Corona.

Thanks for that, StieliAlpha.  I didn't know there was a museum there, I gotta visit that someday.  I read Ben Kane's historical fiction trilogy set on the Roman/Germanic frontier, was an enteraining & compelling look at that battle in the first book, Eagles at War.

Aragorn2002 may be right that the Liberator might be BS.  But I am so starved for military-historical shows I will certainly withhold judgement until I see it.  I would much prefer another Band of Brothers type of series.  And I don't care if it's US, German, Russian, Brit, whatever.  Just make it good and make it look authentic.

    Ben Kane is great.

Based on Alex Kershaw's book about his experiences as a company commander from up through the Italian "Boot" (including Anzio), Southern France and into Germany with the 157th regiment.

Was a really good read. The movie looks like it has added an entire dramatization that was absent in the book. The whole "dirty dozen/band of brothers" angle has been manufactured.

Still, if it stays mostly true to the book it should be a compelling visualization.

Looks like the usual Hollywood BS. I will most certainly give this a miss.

Er... I am the person who actually did design the scenario. I received an e-mail the other day from someone who also collaberated on CO2- he pointed me to this topic and I couldn't resist posting a reply.

It's great to see that people are still enjoying  'Greyhoud Dash'. I remember having a great time researching, designing and playtesting it. That must have been over ten years ago...

Have you already played the scenario from the German side? Also, be sure to check out the other CO2 scenario packs- there are a lot more great scenarios to play

Greyhound Dash is by far my favorite CO2 scenario. I play it at the end of every year (German side only) and each time it's more enjoyable. One of the best gaming experience I ever had, really. I salute you, Pieter!

I was under the impression that the Jan 7 date was a joke from Elvis.  They will release when it's ready and saying it will suddenly be ready Jan 7, 3+ months from now, seemed just make believe.  I think that date was Elvis being tired of being hounded for a date that he does not have.  Perhaps I am mistaken in this assumption?

But we should all be careful about adding to Elvis' stress at this painful time in his personal life -- his Philadelphia Eagles are winless after first 3 games.

It most definitely was a joke. Nobody is hounding him for an exact date, it's just high time that we are given some definitive information with regard to the release. Steve said that it will definitely be released this year, so I expect pre-orders at the beginning of november and a release in the second half of december.

BF only has itself to blame for this situation. Elvis is being cautious, i get that, but giving the exact 'update' like we had in february has to infuriate/confuse people.

Gasp, Steve talked about the mystery benefactor for CMFI? That was double-super hush-hush. Steve's been spillin' ALL the beans lately! 😱

Really? I think for an interview of that length it contains remarkably little 'beans'. CMFR will 'definitely' be out his year, which is already contradicted by Elvis, so what are the other beans that lately have been spilled?

January 7th is not the official release date. January 8th is. Pre-orders will be open before then.

Yes, that would be the right following order. You can of course first release it and then open the pre-orders, but that will cost you money....

  12. 44 minutes ago, Jumpete said:

Well, if January 7th is finally the release date, I assume that we'll can preorder around first days of November, right?

I think Elvis gave that date just to get me off his back. 🙂

Hopefully we will all have a white Christmas this year...😉

  13. 1 hour ago, BFCElvis said:

Yes, I know. The announced date is January 8th (as you'll see in my post). I'd suggested checking in on the 7th to pre-order and to make sure something hadn't changed with that date.

(It's hard to be more aware of his birthday than I am...Through most of the 70's and 80's my friends and I would gather and listen to each album in chronological. 🙂

I always liked Bowie, although not as much as you do. Under pressure with Freddy was a great song, same as China girl. Such great artists back then. 🙂

Apart from that I hope you aren't too serious about that date, because a pre-Christmas release would wipe away a lot of frustration and displeasure.  It would also mean I can finally stop making a nuisance of myself, which is also for myself quite exhausting to be honest.

  14. There are lots and lots of interesting ideas. Take a Finnish module (Winter war and Continuation war) with Finnish, Russian, Swedish, British and French forces. Lots of interesting fictional battles could be made. In fact some company recently launched a game about the Winter War, with British and French forces in it.

In his interview Steve said the chances for another fictional modern game are small, but why not turn fictional to the past? Cold War turned hot 1984 would sell well, there are quite a few games around on that subject, although not in the style of CM. Another game that springs to mind is a 1946 war game, Germans fight on, Stalin decides to go for broke etc. Or Operation Sealion or the fighting in Norway in 1940 for example. Korea 1950 would also be great (I was just pulling your leg, MJ, it would indeed be a great subject for a game).

Specific buildings like the Kremlin, the Stalingrad Grain Elevator, the Reichstag and such would also be great. I remember Close Combat and trying to conquer the Kremlin. Such fun to play.

I wasn't the organizer, I commanded the 17th Pz Div..

Kicked a ton of commie butt too.  It was epic.

It really was. I didn't take part in it, but followed it and did get all the maps of the Lauban area, which were absolutely stunning. Played on them for months and months. I must admit I never had so much fun (anymore) as playing CMBB. At first I hated the looks of it, but soon enough I realized it was most enjoyable game I would ever play.
