To be fair you didn't believe in the 8 January release date anyway ;-). Neither did I, but then I'm happy with just observing the release when the time is there and firing up a game.

True, didn't buy that for one moment. But perhaps  you're not an Eastfront fanatic as I am. Maar inderdaad, het is vechten tegen de bierkaai en ik moest er maar eens mee ophouden.

It may not be what we'd hoped for, but then I wanted to remain a European - always have been and always will be 😉.

I will never regard you Brits as anything else than Europeans. The dutch lost one of their best allies within the EU.

Well, yes I suppose so, but as we've discussed a few times I think that I understand your position (and that mine is somewhat different as a relative newcomer).

We can only wait and busy ourselves with other things, like Final Blitzkrieg in my case 😉.

Don't get me wrong, I'm up to my neck in CMFB, CMFI, Command Opps 2 and several other games. But I'm rather flabbergasted about this announcement. But you're right of course.

I'm not sure it's a matter of nerve, I've never found anyone at BFC that scary that I wouldn't ask them a question - if I felt the need to.

Anyway, worst case would seem to be February + 2 months = April.  Assuming the time sucker doesn't persist 😉.

Rather sobering after all the end of the year hype, don't you think?

Fire and Rubble's website should be up later this month, February at the latest.  Generally speaking we do that only about 1-2 months before the game is released.  There's one remaining time sucking variable we have to deal with and so much depends on that.

    Steve

Since nobody seems to have the nerve to ask (small wonder) and I'm already the Enfant Terrible here, I will ask the question.

So worse case scenario is a release of Fire and Rubble in April-May 2021?

“...time sucking variable” was once my answer to my lovely wife when asked why I hadn’t gotten to my chores for the day. “Sorry dear,” says I, “but playing Combat Mission is a time sucking variable.” I was then informed that the Doghouse is also a time sucking variable.

They always have an answer, don't they? 🙂

    This is an excellent point!

There is a mod that replaces the MP40 with the PPSH. It's one of my favorite 'little' mods. Personally I would love to see a mix of MP40's, PPSH and StG 44's. Above all I hope that the StG 44 is well represented in the module, not only in the Volksgrenadier units, but also in other units, like Panzergrenadiers.

I think that whilst we are waiting for Fire and Rubble, instead of moaning, we should have a little sing-song. All together now...

    Very nice, Wart. Hidden talents.

I would like to see the source that states that a WW2 steel helmet doesn´t matter too much and only offer a slight reduction in injury when it comes to shrapnel protection.

I'v seen pictures of helmets on which bullets ricocheted without penetration, so I doubt there is such a source.

The line has gone dead so it seems.

I guess there are deadlines and deadlines. There's the type of deadline A: 'if we don't finish this before X, all work will have been for nothing / we'll lose bigtime'.
Or deadline B: 'Let's work towards this date as if it were an actual deadline'.

My experience is that while it is always good to work towards something, requirements change and so does the 'imaginery deadline date (B)'. So I wouldn't get your hopes up too high ;-).

Hope springs eternal and I'm hoping the cooperation with Slitherine will have a positive effect on the deadlines of BF.

And it never hurts to stir things up a bit.

Unless there's subtext I'm missing somewhere, I don't think highlighting Stalin's atrocities automatically makes one an apologist for the 'other' side (Nazis, in this case). It's a rather large leap in logic. Typically, if you're against murder you're against it. End of. Nevermind that as time progresses onward and onward that these two men will presumably blur and we'll just be left with blips of abhorrence whose import will be left to the nerds and historians. I think Hitler's Vlad-like place in the history books is pretty well set in stone, but I am not so sure about Uncle Joe. I am all for reinforcing that Stalin was a monster, lest you end up with him being another Genghis Khan to the layman, great big statues built in his name, his appearance adorning video games and the like in positive light, and the absolute monster that he was buried in the long years that have passed. We know that simply 'winning' is well enough to rehabilitate one man's historical character.

As for Russian cinema, it is a boring and largely non-introspective snoozefest. But then again, that's not too dissimilar of the American media's "war movie" output. I find that the quality of movies in general has nosedived considerably the past twenty years. That or maybe I'm just getting old and cynical.

    Well said, Khalerick. +1

The sharpest comment of the year so far. Of course if I accused the Arrogant One of making a negative remark I'd get labelled a "fanboi". Oh, I feel something wet, what's that? Ah, it's just water off a duck's

I rather think you're getting incontinent. Must be your age. 😜

BS-3 was a recent arrival to the title (yes, new content keeps getting added), I don't know if anyone wants to rework their finished scenarios to fit it in. I did a test of it using a converted QB map and it seems like a serviceable weapon. CMBS of course fields the MT-12 100mm gun.

Now that are nice and new screenshots.

You see? I can be positive. Just give me a reason.

Another 20 year fan here. ^^^^ This is exactly the attitude we should have.

It's all find to look forward to something new, report issues and desires but what a waste of time all this bitching and complaining is - about a schedule for f's sake. Go play CMRT or any one of the other games instead. Heck go build a snow fort in your back yard with your kids or grand kids. :D

    Talking about insular community members...

I get that some people, a small vocal group of people,  are disappointed.

Considering your earlier statement that you didn't really get my point, that's progress.

Ultimately I think almost everyone here agrees with/understands BF decisions, and are looking forward to new product as and when it is ready.

Complete nonsense, most people wonder what's going on, but are too afraid, too smart or too disappointed to ask questions. Many can't be bothered anymore, since it's hopeless anyway. Me, I'm just stubborn and stupid. And I care much more about CM than you lot will ever understand.
