  1. Any official word on this problem? I jsut had the following scenario: opponent sends me file #032 in the PBEM sequence that allows me to watch the movie for turn 10 and then to plot my moves for turn 11. I hit the go button and send file #033 to my opponent for his turn 11 plot and when he hits go it should run the turn, produce the movie and then go to the save file screen for him to save file #034. That file should allow me to view the movie and then send it back to him, instead, I have received another chance to plot my turn 11 moves and hit go. SHould I have him redo his previous plots and resend - or should I simply hit the go button for a second time in one turn?
  2. Personally - I would love to see tank commanders that are smart enough to disengage an area target command on a house when an enemy tank appears within view. I just love watching a tank go up in flames after the enemy taking 3-5 shots at my tank with no response at all from my veteran crew.
  3. I would like to be able to set the point value of victory locations when I design a scenario.
  4. Close, but not close enough. I'm from Lancaster.
  5. If you try often enough, at least one clerk will ask if you want to pre-order CM:BB.
  6. T-34/85's are your best bet, just pray that you've got some good terrain to hide in and that when you do finally pop up on the Tigers' flank that your t34 driver doesn't ram it into reverse before the gunner gets a shot off.
  7. "Man is dad gonna be pissed when he sees what you did to his new ISU"
  8. That was the problem - I had the wrong year selected. Thanks twice - first for the beautiful mods, and then for holding my hand to get them to work.
  9. My bad - I knew that there had to be a reason you did it that way - I just wasn't able to figure it out on my own, I'm such a big dummy.
  10. I see now - it seems that you've added an extra '6' to the beginning of the bmp file names. Can I ask why, as this makes importing the files much more tedious? I love your mods - but as it is now, I have to rename every file manually to get it to work. Sorry to complain for something that you obviously spent alot of time doing.
  11. Just wondering if the US verses Europe copies have different bmp numbers. The reason I ask is that one of my favorite modders always has different bmp numbers than what is already in the bmp folder - they should be overwriting the files, but they don't because the numbers don't match. Hope that makes sense.
  12. Actually - I never said anything of the sort, I actually was pointing out that corporate America has turned to the rest of the world as it's slave labor market now that it can no longer find enough cheap labor here in the US. There seems to be alot of economics professors in here that are dying to tell us all why America is much better off by exporting its' manufacturing jobs, personally I don't see it, and don't agree with them. But then again it's America - and I have the right to disagree with them. To them I seem uniformed and uneducated - to me they sound like politicians spewing rhetoric of how they are making a better world for us whether we can see it or not.
  13. Your job is safe because of your 'higher skill' - please! I hope that you don't truly believe that.
  14. Sorry - but I don't classify IT jobs as service type positions. It sounds as though you have a typical professional type mentality. IE - we're laying you off and moving your manufacturing job to China, if you were more literate/intelligent, you would understand that this is actually good for you and your family. I am done debating economics with you - it sounds as though you are reading from a textbook. I will be the first to admit that I am not an economics wizard, but on the other hand I have yet to see a plant closing that is good for the majority of people laid off.
  15. BTW - the article that started this thread is just a bunch of ramble. What is his point really, that our view of the Russian army in WWII is skewed because we took the Germans' viewpoint as gospel? I mean really - he goes on and on and then finally produces a list which he says are uninformed beliefs about the Red Army, yet where does he say what the truth is about those ideas? He doesn't. Does anyone think that the battle of Guadacanal is taught in Moscow schools? Of course not. Sure, our perspective is skewed, but then again Russian perspective of our fight is as well.
  16. Just because you pay someone 2.50 an hour and the average salary is 1.50 an hour for that country, that does not mean that at the end of the day that person doesn't go home to a shack made of cardboard without indoor plumbing or heat. I suppose you are trying to say that we are doing the people of the world a favor by letting them make our products? I'm sure that there are some that are being helped, but my question is what jobs will be left in the US in 15 years when all manufacturing has been moved to Mexico and China? 17. Most Americans, given the chance, would greatly prefer to stay out of global problems. The world assumes that your common US citizen wants to stick his nose into every other countries' business. This is far from the truth however, as for the most part, the only US citizens interested in the the rest of the world are the 2% that are part of the 'global economy'. I would prefer to have a lower tax rate and keep my money going to only internal US problems instead of helping those in other countries, who in most instances will complain about how evil our country is anyway. Am I bitter about the way the US is looked upon by most of the world? I most certainly am. But it doesn't suprise me as jealosy is an ugly creature.
  18. I find it amazing that someone would believe a game company would produce a mac-only game!?!? Are you still living in the 1980's? Or was that simply sarcasm that I happened to not notice as such?
  19. 20mm cannons are deadly against all bunker types, wooden and concrete.
  20. I seemed to have solved my connection problems by turning my XP firewall back ON. Not sure why this worked, but it certainly did for me.
  21. I just got a game to connect after turning off norton and turning on my xp firewall (go figure), now the test is to see if it works 2 times in a row. EDIT: well turning ON my xp firewall seems to have solved the problem. Not sure how that is possible unless the xp firewall is somehow working even when it's listed as disabled. I did have to open the port manually, but this still makes little sense to me. [ January 08, 2003, 10:49 PM: Message edited by: arkai88 ]
  22. at this time, as far as I know, I have simply software (norton and xp) - I took the router back as it really didn't make life any easier and therefore was a waste of $60. I am currently in the process of wiping cmbb from my machine and re-installing from scratch as I no longer have any other ideas. btw - i'm on a cable modem, so that's what I mean as far as not really being sure what firewalls i have in place. I've heard that some providers of cable internet access have firewalls at their end that could cause gaming problems. That still wouldn't explain why I have been able to connect once in a while.
