  1. .... drumming fingers .... See, I have to go to my brothers for dinner shortly... And, well, they don't have internet.... So, see, I'd like to get the patch before I go over there.... But, well, I can't stall them much longer as there waiting for me to start the ol' grillin'... It's game night of course, opening day of the college football season... LSU vs. Miss State... They'll be watching the game, I'll be playing CM:SF (which I just finally bought - I'm still a CM:SF virgin you see - was waitin' for the patch ya know) LSU is my teams (Virginia Tech) opponent next week, so big game and all.... But I can't really leave.. not until the patch anyway... cause, well, ya know... So, here I sit... typing.. waiting.. diatribing... hoping that after I finally submit this email... and refresh.. there it will be.... crossing (still drumming too) my fingers... Javaslinger
  2. It seems there are far fewer option in the way of units in CM:SF for scenario designers. I'm sure there are far more option in other areas though. I'm wondering though if it will take far less time for all scenarios to 'be the same' or 'been there done that' with the limited units available. Also, what improvements are 'desperately' needed to the scenario designer in upcoming patches? And, last but not least, how would you compare the designer in CM:SF to those in earlier modules? In terms of flexibilty, product created, ease of use, power, and fun. Thanks, Javaslinger
  3. Thanks! Anyone else running it on a similar laptop or system in general? Thanks, Javaslinger
  4. my laptop... AMD Turion 1.6 Ghz... 2 GB Ram Radeon Xpress200M graphics card Thanks, Javaslinger
  5. It seems to me that many of your requests center around nearly complete and total fine control of your units. And this is exactly what is different between the old CM's and this one. Increased fog of war means less control. You can't direct your men from one tree to the next.. you can only give an objective, a rough course and trust them to their training.... Javaslinger
  6. At least your mother loves you.... There, reassurance... Javaslinger
  7. Ok, stupid newbie question.. but wouldn't PBEM have to a WEGO formula? Or is it an IGOYOUGO formula? WEGO I assume means, we both plot our moves and the sim sorta combines them? Thanks, Javaslinger
  8. Whoops.. that's supposed to be I CAN play NWN2... and can't play oblivion on my rig... And as for my opinion, NWN2 needs some more work, but I like a lot... Javaslinger
  9. I've got a AMD Turion 1.6 Ghz with 2GB Ram... Video Card is a Xpress 200M I think... I can't play NWN2 but can't play oblivion... nor EUIII suprisingly... I'm deciding if I can play before I guy... Is the demo a realistic benchmark... Thanks, Javaslinger
  10. Is there an live chat room somewhere where CM people hang out and talk CM?? thanks, Javaslinger
  11. Maybe it's too soon, but I'm really, really curious what the ol' CM vets thoughts are so far regarding multiplayer? That's the soul of the game so far as I'm concerned. I'm not asking about WEGO or other changes... I want to know from players who have PLAYED multiplayer, is it fun? Is it incredible? Is it as good or close to CM was? Thanks, Javaslinger
  12. That's exactly what I'm looking for if you have the time. HOwever, I think they may have switched to some kind of chat software that is indendent of the normal servers.. i.e. it seems you may only be able to connect via the proving grounds site... Ken
  13. Uhm, I'm trying NOT to go throught the java webpage interface.... I supposed it is impossible if it is now on some kind of webpage IRC java server, but it did not used to be like that.... Thanks, Javaslinger
  14. When I read tactical discussions of scenario's like this I just salivate... it sounds so amazingly fun. I'm just a brandnewbie, and I never have damn time to play.... One day, one day... anyone care to suggest a series of good beginner missions that might have some tactical advice somewere to go with them. Like training misisons? Thanks, Javaslinger
  15. Can someone suggest a specific 'set' of terrain mods that will improve elevation distinctions? I find it difficult to discern which mod is better from the limited info available on CMmods. Thanks, Ken
  16. I too find CM Mods difficult to navigate. Seem's like if you know what you're looking for it's ok, but not great for 'browsing'. I just reinstalled CMAK and CMBB. What are the best terrain mods for both for discerning elevation? Thanks, Javaslinger
  17. My friend and I who are both patched to 1.03 with CMBB keep getting a 'different versions' error upon connecting. Any ideas? Thanks, Javaslinger
  18. What happened to all the constant trash talking Peng threads???? Has CM died out that much??? Java
  19. What server is this on? I'm trying to connect with Mirc or Trillian. Thanks, Ken
  20. Hmmm... so I gather you're saying that your playing a roughly 50:50 split of CMBB and CMAK? I havne't played much in nearly 2 years. Is there still a strong community presence? Or have people moved on to some other game I'm not aware of? Thanks, KEn
  21. I'm a newbie and I'm thinking of getting the CMBB strategy guide. I'm wondering how applicable it is to games with CMAK? Thanks, Ken
  22. I've been away from CM for about a year if not a bit more... I was wondering if someone could catch me up on what the latest.... Must have mods? Are people still playing? Or has the community died off? I see this campaign thing is coming out soon. Looks pretty exciting. Anything else? Thanks to whomever takes the time to catch me up!! Ken
  23. Thinking about getting back into Combat Mission with this campaign thing coming out. Wondering what people are playing these days? Mostly AK? BB? Mix? 50:50? Thanks, Java
