  1. Yes. Why are there no Campaigns featuring Tony Hawk in the CDV version of the game which hasn't arrived yet? Eden
  2. Also, if you click on the unit and follow it through the action, you will see it on the toolbar the instant they take any casualties. Michael</font>
  3. I still don't get it- I'm sure I know what "u" is, and I'm pretty sure about "diploud", but what's "re-lumber" and what's "toud" ??? Eden
  4. If it's a problem for BFC to make a "new" forum, (doesn't seem possible, but just "if"), then, seriously, do we really need a separate Scenario-Forum? There are few people there, and I honestly don't understand why we can't talk about Golzow or whatever here...? Eden
  5. These QBs are really really good or I've had really good luck. Anyhow, I just played one where I opted for several bazillion MineFields. I don't understand why my troops can't "see" the edge of the minefields, let alone why do they want to go traipsing in there la-de-da when they are looking for cover? Perhaps it's modelled that my troops know the *secret paths* through there, and don't get hurt? Second issue is that of course I can't *tell* if they are hurting me- when the battle is over, I can't "select" a minefield to see how many kills it has, let alone does CM tell me WhoKilledWhat in AAR...? Eden
  6. Maybe you should edit your post to say "Cemetery Spoilers"? I don't know any Bunker-Chem, but I also had a weird cease-fire today- I played a QB which said, "Both sides ceasefire; you have Total Victory"... and it was 98% to 2% VP!! Does kinda seem strange; I certainly had no morale problems! Eden
  7. A Factory Mod with Snow, Locust. Also, it is the same exact sound made by the AT Rifle guy in the QB I just played. It didn't say "Jam" and the amount of ammo never went down, although I commanded him to lay it down, so I know what OP is talking about. As to whether he ever pulled the trigger- Why did the Conscript go to China? Eden
  8. By "the R are nothing but frus" I think you mean "playing as Russians is frus", right? Assuming that, I will be a manly type of man (but sensitive too) and admit that I think I'm on turn 23 or so, and I don't think I have the heart to finish it. My first time through this is definitely a bad day for the Party. To be fair, maybe I could hang on to that one flag for another seven turns, if I really wanted seven more turns of punishment. And I did lose about half of my heavies early on through masterful use of the Zen and the Art of DumbStupid, but still... this scenario definitely has a high-frus factor!! Since misery loves company, let me ask you if what I find the worst is what bothers you- it's these "Green" guys. How GREEN can you BE?!? I had one guy who took a pounding for an entire minute and a half, hole after hole after hole into the side of his turret... all he had to do was scoot just a wee bit either way and he would have been out of danger, but he just SAT THERE!!! These guys are just TOO aggravating! All of which means two things: 1) I will have to play this scenario again immediately! 2) I am either going to love this scenario, or despise it Kinda love it already tho... Eden
  9. Now that you mention it, (sorta), is it strange that the Axis tanks in Citadel don't approach their goal in some kind of formation? It seems like they individually are on their own little trip alot of the time, wanting to stop and sniff at the trees and whatnot...? Possibly the AI just can't go that far, but that seems like the perfect example of where the method you describe would be useful, n'est-ce pas? Please tell: why is the Caterpillar considered more secure? Pshaw on "Sorry"- it was a great explanation, tell us everything!! I think we all get the concept, but how often will we have the luxury of advancing a crisp and clean formation in this game...? Thanks for expanding "TA" too. Oh yeah? 10. Yes, I did think that! Really, I thought that it would be cool if the "Infantry?" identified unit listed for you everything which was known or suspected about that unit. It seems like we either know nothing, or everything. I mean, within the limits of EFOW. But it could be like this: Infantry/AntiTank Team? Dragunov xP15 AntiTank Rifle? AK47 I'm just making up that AT rifle, of course, but the point is, the unit who encountered that enemy thought maybe they heard the Dragunov, and they definitely heard the AK47, so it has no question mark. It would also be neat if Veterans were more likely to be able to identify the weapons from sound or muzzle flash or what have you, and Green guys just knew that something wicked this way comes... Whaddayathink? Eden
  11. Great! Then we seem to all agree! (Wait- is this the CMBB forum? Where the heck am I?) Oh, man! You've really gone and done it now!!! Of course my language example was a bit silly, but if you'll notice... In your example there, with the cottage defining one edge and the tree defining the other, if that unit MOVES... You see? Even when you just dream up an example to rectify my silly language you come up with something which is more truthfully absolute to the field. SCORE! Provide Civilian-Decoding, please, or I will think you are a Teacher's Assistant...? Perfect example of what you describe, (oops, already snipped it, sorry- the example of needing relative arcs when advancing), in Citadel, at least one of the Axis tanks seems to be keeping an extremely good eye on the previous horizon as they advance... I found out the hard way! I for one certainly defer to you on that question; as I say, just seems like something which would be nice for the rewrite..? Anyhow, Eden
  12. Kappa, I'm with you on this; the replies you've gotten say that it is useful to for moving vehicles to have an arc which is relative to the vehicle... OK, but that's not the only case we're interested in, right? Clearly it would be just as useful, just as much of the time, to be able to cover a region of the field which is *not* relative to the unit, but is absolute to the field. Arcs are fine- people here seem to love them, so although I have as yet not really found them useful, (except for a few things), well so be it. But I agree with you that I'd like to cover a closed region of the field. After all, does it not seem more natural to say, "Private, give me area fire on that hill/gap/valley/thing!" than it does to say "Private, cover all enemies appearing between zero Pi and Pi over eight radians!" So maybe this would be a good RewriteWish...? Eden
  13. Serves you right- don't you know that Communism is a lesser evil than Naziism!?!? Sorry, but you really goofed that up- you should have read the *first* paragraph of the Advanced Tutorial section of the manual... Because it walks you through it, (or something?), I decided to play it *without* reading past that first paragraph, since what is in the book will always be there... I would advise all new owners to do the same; this scenario must be one of the coolest. Here's one non-spoiling hint: When the briefing says "They will be no match for your heavy tanks" the correct translation is "You are about to have your butt handed to you in a doggie bag". WINTER WONDERLAND I had no idea CMBB had real * * * * snowfall * * * How about rain!?!?!? HAIL!?!?! This scenario was pretty cute- tiny, snowy, fun... I got a Total without trying too hard, but it was also very #ANGST# provoking... Eden
  14. Oops. Sorry, Mr Emrys, but there is of course one more type of fictional, the one you describe, the "Typical". This was not a battle which specifically is known to have occurred, nor one which specifically could or would have occurred, but one which more than likely occurred generally speaking, with about these types of units, with generally this type of weather on this type of terrain during that part of the war... Typical! OK, I'm done now Eden
  15. After reading this thread, I see one obvious thing wrong with it- "Fictional" is referring to two completely different types of scenarios. One is just a completely made up thing, someone threw together something in the editor willy nilly. The other "fictional" is like the one someone mentioned about Warsaw- the "what if?" scenario. IOW, On the Third of June, Hitler had a tummy ache, and couldn't be bothered. But IF HE HADN'T EATEN THE WHOLE THING, THEN THIS BATTLE WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. It's like the "PeterJohn" one in TacOps, which supposes that if the weather HAD been bad, (or was it good?), this battle almost certainly would have occurred about like this... To me, I imagine to you as well, this What If? type of scenario has alot more interest factor than something completely fictional. Why, of course it's *almost* historical, right? Anyway. This has been two cents from Eden. Lastly, guys... I was just wondering what I was supposed to understand from "semi-hist". I certainly wasn't expecting, let alone demanding, an accurate amount of machine gun ammo in a scenario labeled semi-hist. I'm not even disrespecting _Titanic_; I'm glad it's accurate but I think you know what I meant. Please subsitute your least favorite "based on a true story" WWII film; I know there *is* one! It seems to me that if we find playing historical or semi-historical scenarios in this game, then we perforce are also interested in what people mean when they label their scenarios that way. That's all. Eden
  16. What does "Semi-Historical" mean? Meaning, what does it *really* mean? Probably too much to hope for, but possibly we have a CMBB Scenario Industry *standard* for what Semi-Hist' really means? I mean, _The Titanic_ was a Semi-Hist' movie- the big boat sank. I just played JagerMeister(sp?), and I'm perusing the 'S's at Combat Depot... I dunno, just wondering, Eden
  17. Give topic "Light Terrain and LOS" a whirl: http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=23;t=001691 Eden
  18. Maybe this "bug" should be a "rare" occurrence with EFOW on...? If so, that would be fine, as long as we also have the "Field Court Martial" command. Eden
  19. But someone just *did* give you a solution- if mortar is firing with a certain HQ, it will not suddenly change to another HQ just because the second HQ happens to stop by. That recommendation is not merely a bug fix but a perfectly reasonable expectation of how it would work in reality. Better still is his second wish- to specifically select an HQ who will spot. Wouldn't that seem to match reality best? One specific HQ has the duty to spot; the other is merely dropping by to catch his breath and have a scone, unless you as supreme commander decide otherwise. If the observing HQ dies or is routed we presume that mortar will look around for someone else. Once again, if reality is the guide it seems fairly simple. Eden
  20. Yes, the trees definitely move. Which, in Citadel, since I want to stick Hunter teams right under that shady tree, makes me wonder if the trees themselves are merely absracted? Id est, if you hide a team in "scattered trees" they will receive a certain hidden-bonus regardless of whether you actually stick him under a "tree"? Eden
  21. ! The obvious question- do "you" still have the scenario in question, and if so, can "we" try it out with CMBB and see what happens? Seems like it would interesting, no? Playing Citadel ten bazillion times, (sigh), I begin to even "see" the algorithms which guide these tanks, sometimes doing things which are not just stupid, but DUMB-stupid... If CM cheats, it doesn't cheat always, or it doesn't cheat well!! Eden
  22. Wow, one can really get an education around here, eh? Fascinating, actually. We could really use a central repository for some of these ultra-informational posts... Thanks, OP, and also it's "separate". I will surely have to read that again once my copy gets here. Alot of that is "just common sense", yet at the same time it just wouldn't occur to me. Like hindsight, or something. I just ordered my copy today- I'm sure it will be here tomorrow... Eden
  23. ...takes the whole screen. And Cmd-Shift-4 will let you choose any rectangular section of the screen, on... most? all? Mac systems. Eden
  24. First "Bullet Time", now Locked Scenarios... Capturing the HQ reveals the previously invisible part of the map in enemy's backfield? Sneaking through cellar in church finds +2 HMG? Just to save y'all some time, the NEXT idea may very well be this: *** CHARACTERS *** SturmBattenButtenKickenFuhrer WeissKopf, after his decisive victory in Yelnia, is now +3 Combat. Should I use him in my next PBEM? Is it worth the RISK!?!? I love him so!! Eden
  25. * chuckle * Hide an AT Hunter team in Citadel, *during Setup Phase*, so it gets a foxhole, on the steppes. Harass approaching Axis with Rifles and MGs, so tanks button up, and hopefully are "distracted", although I don't know if that's modelled. And use EFOW. Even then, I've had a 100% spotted/casualty rate for those teams, and I've tried it tried it tried it. And you think I'm going to sneak?!? I think that "steppes" to BFC must mean "really really short grasses". I could have sworn that they were "tall grasses", but I certainly haven't been there! So fine- we'll just play it the way it's modelled... NBD, Eden
