  1. i wouldnt call it "gamey", but i wont do that with normal guns, upto a calibre of 85mm. you get unrealistic damage on enemy tanks. so i use area fire only with 105mm and of course 150mm. tha should be fair.
  2. found the problem: i am behind a proxy and so i had to hit strg+f5 AFTER login. how stupid by me...
  3. i have the same problem. when ever logged in, i can never enter the side. no frame changes. i get the pass and the login-name again per mail and still dont work.
  4. There was a reason for developing the 88L71 of the Kingtiger, so this gun was better.
  5. Yes, I am sure. both had the 88L56, the kingtiger had the 88L71. the only difference bettween flak- and tigerbarrel was the muzzelbreak of the tank.
  6. another interesting point was the using of 88-flak, which had the same barrell as the tiger. i read books from 17.ss.pd GvB defending the rhine-area between Karlsruhe and Speyer (i live between these 2 towns, thatswhy my interest). they used the 88 to destroy enemy tanks at a range of 8 to 10km with indirect fire. as the author described, with indrect fire (shooting only 1m or so over houses of Bad Bergzabern) the killed a company of allied tanks. the author describes, that the 88-flak has a accuracy on 8-10km of 5m. so it is really possilbe to hit enemy with direct fire at 4km soon.
  7. @ rune, winkelried and michael. then i am still looking for a reason for this. thx
  8. i totally agree with you, Sgt Barger. i think cm was programmed in this way, for beeing a little bit fair and funny game. most german tanks in ww2 were knocked out by allied airforce, but in cm you can not control it, so you have to give other possibilies for an even match.
  9. i dont think so. whole europe uses the leo2, they all will know the hit-%. but i expect them to be the same as in the tanks of usa, france and gb.
  10. i found the gunners-sight of a leo2 in the www. with this there is no problem in guessing the range and velocity.
  11. thatswhy i wrote, we are on training with ALL SYSTEM SHUT DOWN. i dont know, what there could be missunderstood. today when firing an ap-round and guessing 1000m distance, you will hit every target in distances from 700m to 1300m properly. it isnt so complicated to guess 600m near the target. with our optics its quit easier. ONLY GUESSING the range, nothing played ith laser. when using all system of a modern main battle tank, even a child can hit a target upto 3000m, its like playing computer. wrong, as i discussed above. when one of my gunners misses a target twice, he can run to the target with a 120mm-round on each arm to the target !!! with using all systems are are much faster in shooting and killing. but we didnt discuss this problem, but the problem of hitting. It ok to me.
  12. nearly the same, as the real numbers of the tiger-crews show us.
  13. hi i am looking for following bmp-numbers in cmal: - brushes - scattered trees - rough - rocky much thanks to all
  14. you shouldnt forget the most important fact: the sherman were build to fight the german inf, but never to fight german tanks. in us-army this was the job of TDs, before the army saw the real war. thatswhy the loevd the stuart so much in the same time, the germans loved the tigers.
  15. I am a tanker in german Leo1 and 2. When we train, we fire often under conditions with all systems shut down. so you fire with the same technic as in ww2. in training circumstances, me and most of my comerades get 1st-shot-kills with around 85-91% upto 2000m firing moving and fix targets. when using all technics, you fire under all conditions 99% 1st-shot-kills. so, when you have experienced ww2 crews, not german today recruit-gunners (compulsory military service), i can accept in this high hit-% at 1000m, its the normal case.
  16. some german soldiers, parts of Sonderverband 288, were in Iraq in wwii.
  17. sure but most people with less history-knowledge know them all as "SS", beeing unable to see the many differences.
  18. some additional points to andreas. The divisions of SS were divided in original Waffen-SS-Divisions and Waffen-SS-Legions. The legion-units were called "Waffengrenadier", the other tayed the original Waffen-SS-Divisions. the men of Waffen-SS-Divisions were of germanic blood in Himmlers definition, the members of legions were from the whole world. because of this fact its very stupid to call all of them waffengrenadier in a way of censorship. its quit easier to call them "Hans Wurst" or such. its same as when you call apples Aepfel or pommes de terre. its just stupid and very senseless done.
  19. in real live the 88s in nord africa fought most of time without the out-riggers, leveling the gun, etc. else they were never be able to fight with and follow the tanks on the move during battle. so the time of 4 min for getting the 88 ready for fire in cmak is total unrealistic. you can see these facts in the german handbook about flak-warfare. but its ok, when planning good enough, you can ifhgt with them as well, but the only remaining unhisrical disadvantage is, that you cant place them to another position.
  20. in cmbb and cmak all squads with many automatic weapons have to save ammo. its quit easy, give them the orange arc on 40m or less. then they kill every enemy platoon with only 2 of 25 shots/ per squad. for long range use the hMGs, which can route and kill much enemy infantry on open terrain, brushes or scattered trees. enemy inf at 100m or more in woods or houses you can only kill with he-ammo of guns and tanks. i prefer in this case the 150mm sIG, esp. in the Brummbaer. in my opinion you need in ak and bb far less inf then in bo, so use them only to seize and defend flags. all other warfare has to be done by other units.
  21. due israeli statistics tanks with commanders looking out of it are 40% more effective then with closed hatches.
  22. @ soddball: for details in the battles just ask me via mail. "panzerkampf im bild" means "tank warfare in pictures". some men describe their historical battles, but most is by Will Fey. he was untersturmfuehrer and tankplatoonleader, commanding varouis tanks. in difference to most books the problems of repairing and supplying are well described, in parts in form of a diary. important fact is, that tanks burn out or came for repair just with little damages. most common damage was done by arty to tanks by hitting and destroying "Luefterraeder" (i dont know the right english word: these are wheeles on top of the engine, which exhaust and cool the engine. often they were hit by little parts and have to replaced. never i read a word about a broken gun or destroyed optics; in the opposite side, he writes, that they could see through "kinon-glas", which was hit by AT-rifles, inf-rounds and shrapnels. so i was badly surprised when playing the first time cmak, losing no tank before its gun was down.
  23. @ kingfish: in my amount of matches it was too big. but, with some luck, all of my bad luck in cmak i got in these 2 matches and in the future i wont see it again. @ steiner: yes, you are god and know all.
