  1. Will the global model allow a country to sue for peace and then become embroilled in the conflict again. In other words if Japan attacks USSR and then decides its not a good thing with a likewise conclusion from the Soviets could they become nonbelligerents. Further, as was historical, the two then become at war with each other at a later date.
  2. Alright, how about it HC / SC development team, are we going to see amphib assaults from sea tiles?
  3. You heard what HC said. So....forum of the greatest strategic wargame on this planet. The gathering of the greatest students of WW2 history??? What say ye?
  4. Rambo...over the years...you have definitely gained in wisdom, your presentation leaves a little, but overall your spirit has grown. Got to go with this comment even though we knew where they would be, the players still had to perform. Wade McCluskey making that decision to alter course to that of the Jap DD, running low on fuel. Even when the perfect play has been called, practiced over and over, the players have to execute under game conditions, there are no second chances. This is war!
  5. Except for the Med, the SC "house rule" is that you cannot move a non-belligerent away from your home shores. Of course, perhaps one day we will get the "pass through" naval feature I have been asking for a number of years. We did at least get it as a sub function.
  6. Well Colin, you're just about to have your hands full. Things get mighty complicated when the Japs come in. Like JJR says...."better have a plan".
  7. Damn right JJR! And this is just what we want SCGC to reflect.
  8. A revelation I came to a long time ago.
  9. How about we just make them use a loop arrow to operate into the region, taking something like 3 to 4 turns. That would be inconjuction to the MPP operating expense. I might add that the weather would need to be clear(at the arrival arrows) for them to finish the redeployment and land or face additional turn delays.
  10. On the contrary my dear Mr. Cater, that is indeed an exciting answer as you and the development team are open to suggestions?
  11. This is a great thread, ..well it could be....just depends on how much Bill101 is allowed to discuss. As far as the what ifs, how about a little earlier conflict scenario like around 1939 with the Nomonhan incident? Bill....can we go further on what the game will model as far as earlier beginnings? I'm talking about the "official" campaigns?
  12. How about we change this discussion to graphics? Specifically unit counters or sprites. I ran across some really well done counters by Scytth, you all need to take a look at them. Go to www.twitter.com/WstlInteractive and take a look at the referal to Scytth's counters. Might be a nice alternative, something along these lines for SCG, although I do prefer the sprites.
  13. Didz, for human or AI play, if you can keep an active patrol going with DDs or a sub from Singoro to Colombo you'll be able to hopefully spot an incursion by the Kido Butai/IJN. You could also use aircraft for spotting( Port Blair/Ceylon) which is cheapest, but in the heavy weather patterns of the Bay of Bengal and Gulf of Martaban they are somewhat hindered, especially in the April to Oct time period. That's the biggest chance of getting your @ss kicked, other than that, you'll do OK protecting India. The AI is not very good going there, humans too, for that matter, unless there is a very weak presence of Japanese forces in China, which there doesn't seem to be. Ohhh...and the Bombers will have a slight bit better supply in a city and entrench to a higher level.
  14. Good one Colin, keeping the Nationals out has got to be very productive. How close are they and how much did it take in diplo chits to keep them out?
  15. Nupremal's mod just gave me some Ukranians, a nationalized unit formed to help the nazis, but only after Kiev had fallen.
  16. John, EoS = Empires of Steel, a couple of forums below this one, currently in a public Beta. You might want to check it out, if you have time, a civ type game, sort of.
  17. Colin, have you noticed any anomalies in your Axis units' supply in USSR? Presently I have a German HQ on the connecting road 6 tiles east of a 10 supply Konigsberg. I can't understand why that HQ has an 8 supply instead of a 10. What am I missing here? Hubert? Nupremal? Bill? Anyone with an explanantion would be appreciated.
  18. Didz don't ever forget supply in SC, logistics are of paramount importance. The first thing I do when initiating a game turn is check my units' supply status. Low(<5) supplied units are pretty useless(and will receive losses) for assaulting strong enemy positions, don't even bother, move them back into good supply(>5) or move your logistical base(HQ) into a supporting position. There are exceptions of course as long as the enemy is weak or likewise under supplied.
  19. I think you'll find that for awhile SC's AI will give you some challenging gameplay, but you'll almost have to memorize the exploits when you address the AI on expert +2. That is, if you ever expect to win. Any player attempting an initial SC foray against the AI at expert +2 will be relegated to "stepchild" status right away. Only the experienced players have success at those settings.
  20. A planet in some far off galaxy in another time. More a "Risk" concept. I believe that is already being made, ala EoS.
  21. Actually he(Patton) wasn't that far off. More a question of which you prefer, the frying pan or the fire and ultimately you're left with only one choice.
  22. Allies are allowed a plethora of "bad decisions". You can still win easily, just imagine you've handicapped yourself.
  23. Look at the reception EoS is getting, anyone remember Civ? What we might see in a global mod of the WW2 era would be a game of similar scope, something along the lines of muzzy lanes Making History. With SC's superior combat model and simplified game play its a shoe in for a WW2 Civ type campaign. The perfect "what if" within the constraints of WW2 technology.
  24. How about a public Beta ala EoS.
  25. Heck I'd settle for some better supply(MPPs) and no partisans vs SS units.
