  1. I didnt have the time to read all 11 pages but one thing that is interesting about a possible Soviet Invasion is what would the British and Americans do if it happened in 1943 and the Soviets were successful in pushing the Germans around? I dont think we were in a position to invade Western Europe and could we possibly broker a peace with the Nazi regime and fight alongside them? Or would we allow the Soviets to take up all of Europe and put up an Iron Curtain? Would we stand for that? Especially if France changed occupiers from Nazi to Communist? These topics are interesting and fun to dicuss because of the whatif mentality. And I apologize if this topic was brought up earlier in this thread. I dont have the time to sit down and read 11 pages
  2. I am also really interested in this. In WWII things were pretty uncoordinated and the muntions used werent terribly accurate. But on the US side of things will the US player have the ability to pin-point muntions with a spotter?
  3. You know CMBO ans CMBB actually make pretty good urban warfare simulators IMO. I created a map in CMBO that had a city environment that had been taken over by insurgents. The Americans all had Pershings and some light armored trucks to simulate bradleys. The scenario went like this. The Americans were in a farm field they setup as a base and were waiting orders to retake the city. They got word a high level AQ leader is in the city and they need to move to take the city right away. They move in and playing the force of the insurgents were green volkstrum with a plethora of Panzershreks, LMGs, and light armor trucks to simulate the trucks with machine guns. The American force probably amounted to a battalion with 10 tanks and 10 armor trucks. The insurgents amounted to ~2000 poorly trained fighters. The simulation was interesting as you got into the city and the Allied forces bogged down. We probably ended up losing 3 tanks outright, and 2 tanks lost their gun. Armored trucks got beat up pretty bad as well. But in the end you were able to subdue the enemy and retake the city. The KIA ended up being very similar to what you hear in the field. About 20-25:1. I think they ended up killing about 750 insurgents, injuring 1000. The others ran off into the sunset to fight another day. The Americans lost about 30 men with about 85 injured for a total of 115 CAS. Americans were put on Vet status with a few regular units mixed in.
  4. I used to play on a ladder where the best player would push your tanks around with his infantry. The guy was truely a great player. I think he ended up playing for a couple of years and his record was something like 212-3.
  5. This is one of the biggest things I am looking forward to seeing BF solve. It seems pretty unrealistic to have two battalions of Americans and Syrians facing off and the Syrians doing much more than slowing the Americans down. Are they modeling precision munitions as well? I can see different scenarion victory conditions as a way to offset the match of technical and training mismatches between the forces. Basically the only way Americans win is if they capture the flag. Syrians can claim moral victories at any point.
  6. I believe they are coming out with their expansion. Updated graphics and gameplay. I played it for the trial period but the graphics were horrible and the game play well gamey. They dont seem to have got past the early war period which sucks IMO.
  7. If it is Market Garden could we see a release on the 17th of Sept?
  8. I know some people hate Steam but honestly it has been great to me. It is also nice to be able to simply reinstall without having to search for a CD. Online distribution isnt a bad option imo.
  9. In CMx1 one thing I wished were included was the ability for QBs between the same forces. For instance Axis vs Axis. I understand this is something that goes against the abosolute realism of the game. But for Massive Multiplayer operational level games run by a game master it could really open up the possibilities.
  10. My WoW factor on CMBO came in Aug of 2000. I read about CMBO in some magazine and decided to download the demo. I play the Germans on some map with a hill and the allies are attacking. I setup my 105s on top of the hill. They take aim at some infantry and I zoom in on the gun to see it fire. I hear the little germans saying something and fully expect the round to go off. But there was a longer than expected delay and all of a sudden "BOOOOM" both fire within a half second of each other and I jump out of my seat about 6 inches as I watch the shell arc across the map and hit some incomming infantry. Right there I was hooked.
  11. Meeting engagement cant remember the point. I think it was 2000 points. I was Germans enemy was British. Moved 2 companies, a PZIV(70), a hetzer through a large open field to the left of a large town. Moved 4 companies and a PVIV towards the town. Town was setup on the right side of the map. Enemy made the mistake of revealing his tanks shooting at my infantry. I took care of him at range with my TDs. 2 dead British Sherman 76s and my force making good headway. While this is happening he is rushing the town with WASPS burning the place up. I drop 2 spotters worth of 120s into the place and kill 4 of the buggers and route 2 toons. By this time I am closing in towards the back of the town and boxing him in. I have 2 companies behind 3 large buildings. By this time I have shot up his lone AT gun which happened to disable the gun on my hetzer. I rush the last remaining building he has in the town and get cut down in the road. And entire company is cut down in the streets. All I had to do is hold the flags which I already owned and would of won. Of course I have to go. So I get an email the next day demanding I recieve a minor loss. His reasoning is he killed a company and disabled the gun. Dont forget I had him boxed into a small corner on the map, shot up a lot of his infantry, I still have 2 intact companies and 2 weathered companies, and he had no armor left. I never even replied and let him suckle the sweat off my nutz. He sent a few nasty emails but didnt bother.
  12. JP-4 is more like jet fuel or Kerosene. But doesnt the military use JP-8? LW
