  1. Replacement startup music for CMBO. Soundbites from famous WWII radio broadcasts played over the theme music from Band of Brothers. Look for Radio Free CMBO by pavlov at the usual place. (I just replaced it with a longer version, btw) [ January 31, 2003, 07:58 PM: Message edited by: pavlov ]
  2. Well, I'm not convinced that's Stalin, but the little woman sure looks unhappy. In any case I think you have quite the find there Master G. Hitler's looking pretty dejected don't you think? Must be near the end. I would be interested in seeing one of the younger Hitler, or is there any candid photos of Hitler or any of the top Nazis? 3. There is a new update (and full version) of Red Victory GUI at the usual place. For those interested. The update includes an integrated version of Mark Gallear's "Grog" Scenario Icon Mod used with permission, a new splash screen, and pixilation problem is reduced on the main screen (it is still grainy by design however).
  4. Seems to be a logical problem with gramps story. If gramps found the camera in 1945, why would it have undeveloped film of Hitler as a "young upstart?" I suppose its possible, but that would mean that the camera sat around with undeveloped film for ten or more years.
  5. I know this is off topic, please pardon. My ex-wife recently came across something interesting at the antique store where she works. Someone brought in a box of old Playboys from an estate sale. At the bottom of the box was a Nazi flag! It's your typical red flag with a white disc on which there is a black swastica. However the swastica is upright instead of angled. The flag has a silver fringe. Its most unique feature is a black square in the upper corner sown onto both sides of the flag, on which it reads: Worms-Wasserturm 1 The flag appears to be genuine and probably came from the estate of a vet who snagged the flag as a souvenir. Does anyone have any idea what this flag might be from or what the significance of the text is? I would guess that the flag must come from Worms or maybe some unit from Worms? 6. By the way, if you're on a Mac the file needs to be converted to .aiff instead of .wav. You can use SoundApp (freeware) for this.
  7. 1. Maybe some of you sages, buffs and german speakers out there can explain to me what these type of units are: Panzerjäger Sturmgrenadier Panzergrenadier Volksgrenadier 2. What are the german security forces on CMBB? Are they a police force or what? 3. Are the cavalry units in CMBB literally cavalry or are they mechanized infantry or some such thing? Thanks is advance.
  8. I've updated my half-size flag set at CM Mod Database with a few more alternates:
  9. Sorry guys, I posted it as an aiff because the mac version of CMBB uses aiff format for the opening music. I didn't realize the PC version uses wav.
  10. Here we go. Mod this:  [insert caption here]
  11. This is frustrating. I spent at least a couple hours of my life working on a new map, but I unfortunately saved it in the "saved games" folder instead of the "scenarios" folder and then overwrote it with the actual saved game file when I play tested it. Does anyone know of a way to recover the map from the saved game file? I think you can load these in a QB on CMBB but this feature does not exist on CMBO.
  12. Maybe Hitler gave the "stand-and-fight-or-you-die" order.
  13. Sharpshooters are good for buttoning up enemy tanks--which drastically reduces their spotting ability. But, I though I'd mention a failure I had at taking out a gun. In a CMBO game against the AI, I managed to sneak a whole platoon of regulars up to 30 or 40 meters from a german AT gun (I don't recall the calibre but it was smaller than 88mm). I then charged the gun, hoping to get inside the minimum firing range of the gun and force the crew to surrender. However, the gun managed to swing around and started firing at the infantry. The freakin infantry stopped about 10 meters from the gun and sought cover, meanwhile the gun is firing at them at point blank range! The stupid infantry wouldn't get up no matter how loud I yelled at them. Most of them were eliminated and the few survivors routed. Finally, I had to move my tank up and took out the gun with a couple of shells. I thought that was somewhat unrealistic. Does anyone know if AT guns even have a minimal firing distance?
  14. For all you flag hags out there, I've made a few additional alternates for my half-sized flag set at CM Mod Database . [ December 06, 2002, 12:38 AM: Message edited by: pavlov ]
  15. Hey, I'm withya dude; when I kill Nazis I wan'em ta look like REAL Nazis! Nice mods BTW
  16. ya'know, I have this problem too, but I'm not convinced that BTS is to blame. I wonder how wide spread this is. Does anyone know a good therapist? Or maybe psychopharmacology is the answer; could obsessive modding be caused by a genetically inhereted imbalance in some neurochemical like dopamine? Or then again, maybe we should start a 12-step program.
  17. Anyone ever hear of this game? GMT Games: Barbarossa to Berlin
  18. Try hitting the hide command after ordering sneak , or any other type of move command.
  19. ha! yeah, it was just shift-S You rule dude. That was funny.
  20. I have no idea why this happened, but sound no longer works on CMBB.
  21. Actuallyt, I have to admit, the sound on the full version of CMBB is pretty good. Its CMBO that doesn't seem quite right.
  22. oops, another dread double post. [ November 23, 2002, 09:50 PM: Message edited by: pavlov ]
  23. (sigh) I don't really want this to degenerate into a discussion of who is more redneck than who, but I live in Oregon, and I've been around guns all my life. And yes the gunfire on CMBB does sound like distant gunfire but the (admittedly very minor) problem with CMBB is that one is viewing a battle from the middle of it not several miles away, and I find it too difficult to tell when there is firing going on. Anyway, I was just hoping someone could make a toned down version of the ambient sounds available, or failing that maybe someone knows the file names and I'll just do it myself.
  24. Alright, I'm going to say this again, to me the ambient sounds in CMBB and CMBO are a great part of the ambiance. I like it. That's why I prefer not to turn it off. . . BUT . . .FOR CHRIST"S SAKE--gun fire should not be drowned out by rain falling and birds chirping! If only there was a way to adjust the volume of the ambient sound rather than just turning it on or off (I know, maybe I'm a bit too retentive). Surely there is someone amongst all the mad modders out there who would kindly tone down the ambient sounds?
