  1. Just my two cents--I think the makers of CM have done a great job creating a product that is useable by older machines (older than six months) but is still top-of-the-line software, something that simply cannot be said of most of the new software available. For my part, I've run CMBO and CMBB Demo with no problem on my imac dv+ 450 mhz --Except when I attempted to load every single hires CMBO mod I could lay my hands on, I eventually discovered there is an upper limit that my machine could handle. Even so, I haven't had any real slow downs except when there is a lot of white smoke. I don't know what the deal is with that.
  2. Come to think of it, there was a good "sewer movement" scene in the movie Stalingrad. The germans had a flamethrower in the movie, but alas, CMBB won't allow heavy weapons.
  3. Well, those are some good points. I seem to remember reading in Enemy at the Gates (worth reading BTW, unlike the fictionalized movie) about a soviet squad in Stalingrad who accidently came up out of the sewer into a german mess. They were so filthy from the sewer that no one noticed they were soviets. If I remember right, I think they were accually served food before they left. P.S. This Forum has been just amazing lately. I post, wait two minutes and "refresh" the page--loandbehold there are already two responses!
  4. Just a truly minor point I thought I'd mention-and qualified with, I might add, that CM is a great game and yes I am impressed with the detail and obvious pains taken to recreate historical accuracy--BUT, "10% chance of death" by merely entering the sewer? Isn't that somewhat absurd?
  5. I'm a little disappointed with the performance of the Red Army conscripts in Yelnia. I hereby request the programmers alter the full version to allow the Soviet player to place MG's behind advancing friendlies and mow them down if they dare to run away from battle (as seen in Enemy at the Gates ), for surely the Red Army can suffer no cowards!
  6. FYI: I don't think there was anything special about the house, but the men in it.
  7. For those hardcore geeks out there; this is from a Star Trek Voyager episode (The Killing Game, Parts 1 & 2). You'll be the envy of all you friends (and opponents)--be the first on your block to have an alien Nazi portrait.
  8. This is a good point and, no doubt, good advice. It did occur to me but I have been impatient. In any case, vehicles were less ubiquitous in the Spanish Civil War and there are many battles were they simply did not play a major role. However, this leads to another interesting question concerning CMBB; will it use the same texture maping systom? In other words can CMBO mods be easily adapted to CMBB?
  9. If anybody is interested-- I am working on a Spanish Civil War total mod. It is to include interface, uniforms, flags, a few vehicles, and, of course, battles (including the siege of Alcazar). I surveyed the internet, and as far as I can tell, no one has done this so far. I'm about half done and will want to post the mods somewhere, but I can host a web site if I need to. I just wonder if there is any interest in such a thing (It is a lot of work, and very time consuming). - Pavlov
