  1. Germany starts with 1 paratrooper at strenght 5, and has another one in the production queue.
  2. It was a network game, not on LAN though. I can email a save game if you like, just say the word.
  3. On a side note Germany also get a mountain hex in Greenland when Denmark surrenders . Regarding German supply in Russia I think its ok as is you just need to be very careful in your advance. If you play your cards right in the current version of this mod, id dare say you cant fail as the Axis. But I agree with fighters being overpowered since they gather experience too quickly. Also I dont like my UK fighter surrendering in Iceland when Denmark surrenders!!! :=(
  4. While I have your attention: Another problem I discovered during a multiplaye session playing Thrawns European theater 2, is when you tab in and out of the game, you can sudddenly as the allies see the opponnents MPPs whereas your own are under FOW.
  5. So only 1 German Corps has landed in England yet? How has this affected the US/USSR readiness so far?
  6. Just a few thoughts: July 1940 USSR readiness 80% (Thats not good, at this point USSR almost outproduce Germany) After axis occupation of Norway the free sub script is producing free subs every turn! In late August i have received I think 13-14 free subs Diplomacy has been reduced (This is very bad IMO, especially for Germany who really needs those free minor units to protect the (hopefully) increasing amount of cities/countries)
  7. Ok just finished my game. Allies won in August 1942. Even though the USSR was on the brink of collapse, the landing of nearly 40 British and US ground units in Western Europe not to mention total air superiority in the theater by 11 tech 3-4 fighters, simply broke the back of the Axis. Next time im going to play Axis. I think the key to axis victory in this mod is a successful Sealion, otherwise the Axis will simply be swarmed by too many units by the time the Allies are ready for D-day. Also the current supply situation in the east makes it nearly impossible to conquer all of Russia. So one needs to think defensively there until the Allied landings in the west have been thwarted. Because you will definately need all of your heavy waepons there. anyways fantastic game, we had some epuc battles in the east involving anywhere form 30-50 units when it got real hot. So its early to talk of balance for me yet i will tell you in full once ive tried the Axis!
  8. Indeed they werent. But you have to consider that this mod has twice as many turns as the normal campaign.
  9. What do you mean exactly? IMO the forces seem balanced. My current game is in Feb 1942 and the axis are hammering the Reds in the east. But in the west. 11 allied fighters + 2 bombers are prepairing D-day which will involve 20+ US units +12 British. So its all good.
  10. Have to agree, buy a new one. The money I spent on SC 2 is the best ive spent for the better part of 2years.
  11. The balance issue is tricky. It used to be a problem that Germany had to good supply in Russia. Now when they lose units they cant buy them bak at a reduced cost. Im currently playing a game with a friend where i control the allies we are in late july 1941. I made 2 defensive strongpoints: 1 near smolensk (between the 2 rivers and citeis) consisting og amries and a few corps and 2 near Rostov where i concentrated all 5 fighters and 5 armour + lots of motorised corps, because i knew he would try to sever the Caucasus. The resulting battle of Rostov caught him by surprise and he lost several units there before retreating back, includin a HQ and 3 panzers (1 italian). I lost many units as well, but those can all be bought back at a reduced cost wheras his cant, since they were ranging from 0-4 supply. I dont know how the game will go in the long run, the axis are still powerful with 5-6 Rockets tech 3 and 7-8 fighters tech 2,3. So i really cant say yet. What i can say though is that this mod truly gives me the feeling of epic struggle in the east. There are so much ground to cover for both sides, intelligence and reconnaissance are paramount to operations, which is truly great. Also the battle for the Atlantic is very interesting and frustrating when you try to outsmart the wolfpacks and run into screening German cruisers. Another thing, Thrawn you live in Germany right? I myself in Copenhagen Denmark. I was wondering if we should try out your mod some time?
  12. Out of curiosity, have any of you people here played this PvsP? And if so what are your thoughts on balance and strategy?
  13. Sounds good, but perhaps German supply in Russia should be reduced as well? 10 seems way to high imo.
  14. I might have brought this up before. But anyways, im currently playing the mod HvsH as the allies we are in august 1941. Germany and USSR has been fighting it out for abour a yeah. Russian tech is INF3, AT2, ART3, M1 and INDUSTRIAL 5, PRODUCTION 2, Germany is INF 1, AT2, ART3, M2 and INDUSTRIAL 3, PRODUCTION 3. Even soi find it difficult to stop the German onslaught, my main defence is situated first near Rostov (now Stalingrad :/) and between the 2 rivers up north west of Moscow. Im loosing several units every turn and can barely replenish my losses, the defence will break any day now. Its almost impossible to stop 6 German and 5 Italian fighters with experience (I have 3)+ the enormous amount of troops the axis can throw in from their minor partners. So my question is this: Has anyone of you been able to defeat Germany in the current setup? And if so how? I mean in my game i even thwarted his attempt to invade Britain in late 1940. This cost him several units but it doesnt seem to affect his ability to fight on and even humiliate the Red Army. In short i think either the USSR should be beefed up financialy or the initial amount of German troops decreased. I dont like the fact that the Axis is outnumbering the Red Army by 2-1, it should be the other way around.
  15. Yes perhaps give them more units, otherwise give them a couple of more oil fields, or perhaps increase Ural industry?
  16. Well it seems Russia joins the fight in late 1940 no matter what. I havent looked at the scripts because im to lazy, but it has happend all the 3 times ive played the scenario. First 2 times vs AI and lastly multiplayer. In regard to giving the Russians more MPPs i tried to mod that myself but i cant increase the level of oil above 5. But i think they need a boost in MPPS. Not additional units its better to give them MPPs, as it will create more variety.
  17. I decided not to invade the UK and focus on a traditional campaign in Russia, which oddly began in August/September when Russia declared war. Anyways i really enjoy the mod, there are several improvements in it over the campaigns in the box. But it seems the allies dont stand much of a chance, at least in our game. The German navy owns the Royal navy, by early 1941 the Germans earn 700+ MPP, almost twice what Russia does. I really cant see how the Axis can lose.
  18. Im also anxious to hear about this, since im currently playing my friend as the Axis. Also does England move their capital to Canada when London and Manchester falls? Otherwise id like to use this opportunity to congratulate thrawn on his excellent mod. Much appreciated.
  19. I was wondering if someone from the community could give some feedback on how this mod plays out in multiplayer. Are there any serious balancing issues and so on that becomes apparent etc.?
  20. I have noticed that Rommel has a command rating of 10 in version. Why is that? It seems a bit overrated to me, otherwise i just whant to point out that you have done an excellent job with your campign. And ohh i almost forgot the last game i played and the only one in version 7 so far, the allies declared war on Italy in late 1939. It didnt seem they had any plan for it besides placing a Fighter close to the Italian frontline :/
