Stammer4250 and Abbott are perfect poster boys for gun control. Allowing mental defectives to have weapons is certainly not reassuring. They do play nicely together, maybe each will shoot the other. -

Zimski...we really don't care what you believe. However, I think your number 13 above applies to you, and probably to Mace as well. -

Sure, why not? We already got a ship of fools. They re-stepped the masts in Nyack and she sailed under the Tappan Zee bridge yesterday, headed for Charleston. 3 to 4 foot seas and a following wind. </font> -

Paranoia strikes deep: Into your life it will creep. It starts when you're always afraid. You step out of line, the man come and take you away. Stephen Stills 1967 Am I wrong about so many things because I am reluctant to believe that my country is headed down the path to Totalitarianism? In 1967 this song verse meant something. It meant different things to different people, but a year after this song was released American Citizens were actually being fired upon by American soldiers. This song was then changed from a protest against the police closing a club in California, to an anthem of a generation protesting what they felt was an unjust war. No better time for a police state to emerge than to "stop those damned hippies from ruining this country" It didn't happen then, and it wont happen now. Americans covet their freedoms, no other citizens on the earth are entitled to we are entitled to. We will protect our freedoms by awareness and dissent. There will be no "Seven Days in May" in this decade. History has proved in my lifetime, that turmoil and radical change are natural mileposts in a free society...we live and learn by our trials and errors. I'm more concerned about teen pregnancy rates, than I am about the police riding through my neighborhood with bull horns announcing a "Neocon world order" I don't profess to know everything either..I make judgements based on my experience, I am old enough to know better....but I sometimes lose it as we all do. I do believe in my heart that America is basically a good place to be, and that we are not danger close to losing our freedoms as we know them. Thank God that we still have the ability to complain about what we don't like. [ November 08, 2007, 05:44 AM: Message edited by: Nidan1 ] -
Does anyone have a TO&E for a USMC Platoon?

Sorry, that's "Old Corps" terminology coming out. In my day, all the Amtrac did was take us from ship to shore, things were different then. You have to admit though that the use of an AAV as an amored personnel carrier has been disappointing at best, and that is probably an understatement, but improvisation is always a hallmark of the Corps, whether or not the improvisation saves lives. Sometimes it just boils down to a matter of cost unfortunately. -

LVTs are assigned to unique units unto themselves and then assigned to infantry units as attached personnel. The LVTs are crewed by personnel of their own parent unit, and the grunts inside are just passengers. I do not believe that the LVT was designed as an APC or ICV, but its all the Marine Corps has to get its infantry into action other than by chopper. The second gulf war was basically a thrust up highways from Kuwait to Baghdad. Only Marine Recon units had LAVS, and verical envelopment was not a tactic of choice, so the Marines had to ride up in their LVTS and Hummers, or they would have to walk. To answer your question, you would have to specify the type of platoon you are referring to, i.e, an infantry platoon...an engineer platoon, a tank platoon etc. All of these units are seperately organized and then combined as needed into a BLT (Battalion Landing Team) an MEu (Marine Expeditionary Unit) or some other specialized higher organization. Here is a list and link to every unit in the US Marine Corps. [ November 07, 2007, 04:15 PM: Message edited by: Nidan1 ] -

Mr Peng I think, and this is my opinion after all, that you are overstating things a bit. Our freedom to protest and dissent is a strong as ever, and it maifests itself in many places. In our Congress, listen to what comes out of the mouths of people like John Murtha, Dennis Kucinich, and Harry Reid, all opposition party stalwarts, who dont let the White House sneeze without giving their "God Bless You" Watch "Boston Legal" a few times and see the issues that are portrayed in the dramas on that show for example. Every General who has recently retired is knocking the current military power structure. The checks and balances are STILL IN PLACE, we have a lot of issues to deal with, but the debate goes on, as it has since this country's birth. We as a country bend, but never break. I think that fact will continue. -

Peng what is it really.....come here and tell me about it. This weekend is the the USMC Birthday and Veterans Day and the 25th anniversary of the Vietnam Wall, what better reason to love America....this is just a phase we are going through...like the Red scare in the 50's, we will be all right. -

Has anyone in this thread had their home phone illegally tapped...or is Peng just spouting a bunch of crap? Gee, my life has not changed much since 9/11...no one if following me, no one is tapping my phone. I work in Telecom, and I have not been party to placing an illegal wiretap on anyone...and believe me I have done plenty of legal ones. Peng go over to Gyrenes website and spout your foul-mouthed nonsense...they are more tolerent of potty mouths over there...I would hate to see you get banned. -

Mr Peng do you have to use foul language? we get it that you are a dolt, and for being a dolt you should rot in the airport lounge forever. Lets try to maintain the exemplary level of decorum that usually pervades the MBT,no reason for all the four letter words. They don't make you any funnier. -
