1. you now have much more options to use your tanks....see the demo for more details.. shoot&scoot is a fine feature and with the arc commands you have a far better control... imho the tanks are acting more intelligent then before and hiding themselves before they get hit by superior weapons...
2. a year ago i had a similar question posted...and found out that it is really hard to get these KTs. even manouevring will not lead to an easy kill if the opponent has a well understanding of the KTs advantages. this unvulnerability is in fact a reason why i wanted to get CMBB...in CMBB there is a better chance to get these beasts with Stalin tanks...(122mm)..and it is possible to use a rarity factor which makes KTs more expansive...
3. pooooh.. a vehicle list will not come up easily.. the list depends from the theatre (nord, mitte, sued), so we will not see any finns against rumanians... and the date, as usual... but after trying several combinations, i found no lend lease armored cars, neither panhards
4. Hehe....you won't see that at a JS3... and even a T-44 is not impressed by Tigers... the JS3 will also perform against KTs... a Jagdtiger (600m) was shelled by him until the crew bailed out after four hits...and no smoking holes...not one, but a lot of scratches from these 128mm popguns.... but besides this its always fun with a KV2 and some KV1 in a '41 environment.... there are hard times in '43 until the KV85 arrives...
5. Hi, as far as i played any QBs, the following cars are "in" 221 (MG or 20mm, not with PzB41), 222, 223, 231, 232, 233 etc.... BA6, BA10, BA20, BA64, BA64B but seems as if you have to stick to the "Kuebel" the hungarian Czaba...and the italian CV-33...

8. Dear Capt... You left out the gut who keeps his guys crawling around in woods and cornfields within a meeting engagement for about 29 of 30 turns.....and who runs for all flags with hordes of halfsquads in the last turn.....irritating your guys who are not knowing which enemy to execute first...but who luckily kills a tank and wins a marginal victory by this, before all his troops were killed in close combat.......explaining that it was a very close game but he has won due to superior tactics....
9. As far as i understood, the rarity will have a direct influence on unit prize. The rarity could be designed as a constant value or maybe related to timeframe and TO&E (NBWs are less likely in volksgrenadier battalions than in SS-PzGren). IMO the rarity system is a two edged blade....What is the use of expansive NBWs, if you could not buy any other units to exploit any breakthroughs caused by them. No one than newbies would buy NBWs, but 120mm mortars in numbers. Is this really more realistic.
10. A real good source about german tanks is "Die deutsche Panzertruppe 1943-1945", Thomas L. Jentz. 1999, 280p., ISBN 3-7909-0624-7I don't know if it is available in english language, but it covers technical data, TO&E, combat reports, statistics etc. It is the second volume, the first covers the timeframe 1939-1942...
11. Thanks a lot so far to all these Tips....I think i just wasn't careful enough...but with this understanding i'm going to improve my tactics...
12. Has anybody an idea how to use towed guns for an attack ? I towed them behind my main attack group in order to support the frontline troops from behind, but it took it's time until they got ready to fire. Until then the fight was going on elsewhere. Next time i put them on overwatch at positions where they could cover my advance, but they were taken out with mortars or artillery after few salvoes. I haven't found a strategy or doctrine for using them in attacks. Are they worthless for attackers?
13. Well well... and getting THIS update is already like christmas isn't it ? i just got it printed out and will learn it until tomorrow and i'll wander around and tell everybody.
14.
quote:
Originally posted by Ron Lee: Hey you guys about destroying armor with infantry, none of you seem to considering the crew moral of the AFV. If this can be lowered enough, then the crew of the AFV would abandon the vehicle.

Of course, that also works well, but it's more fun to take a tank completely out. Furthoermore a tank needs a lot of punishment before the crew bails out. Usually the attacking infantry is panicked or broken (by tank mg/gun) before the tank is harmed.
15. Yes you're right, the Pak40 was not intended to be transported without a kind of tractor. Even with a tractor, it was evaluated to be too heavy for towed transportation in russian heavy terrain during winter and spring. Nevertheless, a gun can (and must) be moved, even if it weights 1.5 tons. At least it should be able to change position over a limited distance, lets say 100m. But it should take time because normally the crew has to get the gun to the position, furthermore they should take the ammunition and other stuff (repair kits) to the new position. Several walkings between positions are necessary. But i think these different movements are already represented by the slow movement and the time to get a gun firing.. Over which terrain have you moved your gun a greater distance ??? Movement depends on terrain. It is even possible to move a mercedes benz on roads or flat grass, even woods, with several persons, which are usually not trained soldiers.
16. Ah...very nice...seems as if they have invented the wheel too.... but nevertheless they DO something for a newbie, who doesn't like to surf and download When will the first scenario CD be sold ??? I doesn't like this kind of business, but i also doon't know what to do against it. BTW. if somebody wants to get more information about the product lines of intex... write to Intex Publishing GmbH Jakobstr.9 D-53783 Eitorf Germany
17. I would appreciate if BTS provides updates of CMBO. With updates i mean some additional tank packs, new guns, new infantry types, without changing anything else. Just additions to the existing unit database. Will this be possible ??? Is there any access to the unit database to edit existing models ??? I like to play something like M12GMC, M16 MGMC, M1 155mm howitzer, some british gurkhas, or something like the sIG 38(t), PSW222, PzIIIN within the western theatre.
18. In my experience...No... I have not played enough bog environment yet to state that it is a question of speed...but it seems to me that vehicles are less prone to bogging if they move slower....Maybe that the crew keeps more attention to the ground while moving slower (hunt)...i also tried do stop bogged vehicles and reverse out...but that doesn't work...reversing vehicles are immobilized nearly the same times than forward moving bogged vehicles
19. It's far easier for the germans with their PzFs. As i usually play the gi's, 'cos my best Pbem opponent likes killing tanks with PzS, i have tried a lot to do the same with bazookas and all these other stuff.....with only marginal success. In my last battle the following tactic works well. take infantry, as much as you can effort and hop around the german tank....while doing this, using cover if avaliable, bring a gun to bear as long as the tank is distracted by your infantry....in this time, hopefully one to two minutes, bring a firefly or something like that in position and hunt the big cat down. maybe gamey..as my opponent always yells..but it works... keeps chance on your side during the gun duel, maybe you got two shots before the cat acquires your tank.. using infantry alone to kill big german steel cats is questionable, with bazookas on close range chances are better....still low, but better
20.
quote:
Originally posted by Spook: At one time earlier, BTS (Steve) related that for CMBB, a 600Mhz processor speed is the recommended "low end." Likely your system will run CMBB, but at what speed remains to be seen.

THX, so far.... Santa Claus knows already about CM2, it seems i have to write him a thread about my need for a new (possibly non XP) system before CMBB is released. my question is, if there are further requirements known for a system that should host CMBB, related to memory or graphics..???
21. just to keep things adressed right.... any comments to this thread are welcome.... AFA i have heard CMBO will not run on XP workstations and NVIDIA graphic cards. IMO Microsoft and NVidia should work on this issue, otherwise they won't sell much to the audience of this website.
22. Please rename this thread to STH like "not upgrading to XP because...." It is just a matter of sense...because as battlefront.com seems to be a home of CM grognards, why should we discuss an issue like "not buying STH that is main thread of this website"... at least i will buy CM2, (has anybody noted that, yes) and this discussion is reason enough not to try any laboratory research with XP or nvidia cards... BTW, i'm still happy with my relic pc, a simple intel PII, with 98 and an voodoo2 graphics card... CMBO runs on it, hopefully CM2 does.... so what...
23.
quote:
Why don't you hide the troops in the rubble once he's demolished the buildings? He won't know they're there and rubble is excellent cover.

Right, you're welcome, but the enemy will not reduce buildings for fun. He must first see STH to fire at and i have no units left to act as dummies. After several turns there is some rubble, of course and i'm just waiting for a KT to come along with eyes wide shut.
24. I'm just hiding in a city environment against ten KTs (winter, dec44, snow). I achieved multiple hits on veteran KTs, but it's hard to get a rear shot, im ensircled somehow. It's not hopeless, because my engineers have some DCs. My veteran Bazooka teams hold their heads down, until a real good shot is achievable. The problem is, that my enemy knows which building contains bazooka teams and reduces them to rubble, if they fire early. IMO it's a gamble. Good luck. Maybe it's possible to knock KTs out if you own elite teams. But against elite KTs there is low chance to really hurt them with bazookas.
25.
quote:
Anywho a tactic I am sure will be labeled gamey is if you are on defense. Light up all the tree lines that your enemy will be approaching from. This will force them in the open and in theory if used with barracades and mine field you could really force your enemy to some pretty nasty killing zones

IMO that isn't gamey. Real life isn't gamey too. It is just a strategy, which works well for the first time or until your opponent has developed a counter-strategy. I have used these wasps in "swarms" of four, covered by a crocodile and some bren-MGs (not tripod ). This arrangement is quite efficient to burn a village down or to do some terraforming and hold defenders heads down. Nevertheless these wasps were consumed rapidly by grenades and light flak. Even a well-aimed HMG burst puts them OOA, because if they are shocked they are useless. If you flame a wood to early, the enemy knows about your tactic and will probably avoid the area. If you wait and he comes close to the wood, he might spot your minefields beside the woods, return an put artillery behind the wood. It's just a question of well timed actions. Good Luck, Gen.
