  1. Thanks. If I upgrade to 1.04, will I still be able to play PBEM games against my 1.03 opponents? Tom Konczal
  2. I have recently purchased a Dell Windows 7 desktop with a ATI Radeon HD 5870 video card in it. It works perfectly for CMSF and CMBO but in CMBB and CMAK I see three small black digitized patches in the upper portion of the screen. I'm sure this is a video card problem (maybe shutting on or off anti-alias) but I am no expert on how to manage this. I have attached a picture to show this. Does anyone have a solution? Thanks, Tom Konczal
  3. Looking for a pbem opponent for CMSF - both Army and Marine extension. I can do a move every day or two at least. Contact Tom Konczal @ TomK1@aol.com Please use subject line "CMSF opponent"
  4. I tried to play a small scenario on the internet/LAN connection between my desktop and laptop. It was a 30 minute ambush type small game. By the time the desktop reached 12 minutes left, the laptop was at 20 minutes left and I was watching approaching Humvees on the laptop with troops that had already been killed by the Humvees on the Desktop. Commands to the laptop didn't get fulfilled because of the time gap. Anyone else have this problem and are there any solutions? I tried the tech board but nobody answered my post Tom Konczal
  5. Today I tried to play an internet game against an oppenent in my house using my desktop and laptop computers in a 30 minute two player game. By the time the game reached 10v minutes left on the desktop, the laptop was still at 20 minutes. I noted that the desktop was far ahead in time from the laptop. This is so unlike the other combat mission series. HGas anyone else noticed this?? Thanks, Tom Konczal
  6. I have upgraded to 1.02. Everything works but when I press on the "OK" button after setting the parameters in a quick battle screen, I am returned to the main screen. This happens on both my desktop and laptop. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks, Tom Konczal
  7. Great - thanks Madmatt for the quick response and the reassuring knowledge that it is NOT something particular to my computer setup. I love CMBO and CMBB TOO much to have that happen. Tom Konczal TomK1@aol.com
  8. Yes, I have all the files and the scenario save worked on a third, different scenario. I sent the file by email to Madmatt so he could check it out. Thanks Tom Konczal
  9. I was playing the first small scenario titled "A Deadlt Affair ". I saved the game using the "save" button after turn 2. When I attempted to load it to continue play it loaded without difficulty and I was able to enter my move BUT, when I pressed the GO button, it started the Computer Thinking screen and crashed with the following message: Unhandled exception: C0000005 at address 0040b049 This occured repeatedly with both the saved file and the autosaved game file. I then restarted from scratch and saved after the first turn and it occurred again with the exact same error. This did not happen when I tried a different scenario. Any idea what is occuring?? I have a Dell 2 ghz Intel processor with a 64 meg Nvidia card. Thanks, Tom Konczal TomK1@aol.com
  10. Send me a copy to TomK1@aol.com I'll try to fit it in between pbem games or as one.
  11. I have a brand new 2 Mgh Dell running XP with CM and a Nvidia 64 meg Geforce card. I also have the 3D - 2d graphics problem. I still have the original drivers sent by Dell. However, I use the "Window" key between the Ctrl and Alt keys to minimize the CM screen and then reopen it and it is fine in 2D. It is the same procedure I had to use with a 32 meg NVidia GeForce on Windows NT at work. I have had no other conflict problems. I have used Adobe Photoshop to color in some of the "white" graphic messages such as "Which Floor" and "Located in". By changing from white to a slight orange, there is no fuzziness in the 3D playing screen. I have had no crashes under XP and I have 9 PBEM games going with constant daily turns.
  12. I will be there and I think Rob Davidson will be there (Tabpub)
  13. I'd like to look at it. Please send it to TomK1@aol.com
  14. Sorry - didn't see the second page - I can try to make it on a Sunday but Friday nights are better.
  15. Tabpub and I game together in Evergreen Park and we both live in Orland Park. I'll be there and I suggest Friday night October 19th at his tavern (excuse me) "lounge" in Richton Park at 6 or 7 p.m.
  16. The operating system at work is Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional. I followed your directions (I have tried this before) but when I get to the Additional Properties Button, I get a screen with two tabs, one tab marked color Correction with brightness, contract and Gamma sliders and a second tab marked Overlay Color Control with a brightness, contract, hue and saturation sliders. No radial button for 3D antialaising or DirectX or slider appears in either tab section. How can I be sure DirectX version 8 is on this machine at work??? By the way, I like the older, thicker smoke on my home machine better!!! But you were right, the fast and compatable version looks more like the high quality version on my 12mg Voodoo card at home. Any further ideas on the antialiaing??
  17. My new computer at work has a 32 megabyte DDR NVidia GeForce 2 GTS card in a Dell 1.8 mgh computer from Dell. It has version 6.3.4 drivers. At home I have a Voodo 3 card in a Pentium II 400 mgh which works well enough with CM but I want to get a new Dell with a NVidia card. However, at work I have video problems with this card - the words "located in" at the bottome of the screen and the flags at the bottom of the screen are very fuzzy, almost unreadable. The smoke (an upgraded version) is almost transparent where it is excellent on my home computer. Since this is the only game I play and pbem, I want to make sure I can enjoy the game fully with a Geforce card (probably GeForce 3) I intend to buy in my new computer. I have read other fixes but cannot figure out how to change the anti-alias (?) on this card to see if that helps. Any solutions to these problems would be appreciated. Thanks Tom Konczal
  18. Read the manual section carefully about operation objectives (I don't have it here at work). Basically, there are three types of operations - advance: where you must reach the end of the full operations map (not necessarily the battle you are currently doing since the whole operations map is not shown); assault: like an advance but casualtiers count more and you only have to get a pre-set % of the way top the end of the operations board; or destroy: in which casualties alone for both sides determine victory. Hope that helps. Tom Konczal
  19. Send both to me - I will try to playtest them as soon as possible. Thanks Tom Konczal TomK1@aol.com
  20. I wondered the same thing and e-mailed the author but received no response. Maybe the first three aren't done yet.
  21. Actually, you do not need a set-up area to get the orange bases. It works with or without setup areas. Thanks to an email from niles.hirschi@gte.net (Niles Hirschi) for the answer. When placing the troops, use the spacebar menu and click on padlock setup for the uint. It's base turns orange and not move or put commands appear. See it was simple and I do feel silly. Thanks to all who responded!!
