  1. In the meantime, search the Repository for mods by author named Vein. Specifically, you want Vein's Explosions and Smoke, Vein's Flames, Vein's Small Arms Muzzleflash, and Vein's Tank Muzzleflash.
  2. I don't recall Bil mentioning ATRs. It looks like Bil is going to march around Elvis's units defending the east farm.
  3. That brings up a question: did tank commanders typically carry an SMG on their person while in the tank? If not (and I really don't know) then there should be some delay.
  4. It amazes me that some people value their time so little that they will waste it like that.
  5. I think it must be the foliage. Unless something has changed recently, tanks (and perhaps other unit types as well) ignore tree trunks that are very near to them for LOF/LOS purposes.
  6. When I convert scenario maps to QB maps I often deliberately place at least one terrain objective very close to a map edge, sometimes right on it if it is a road exiting the map. That pretty much eliminates any questions. I hate wasted space on maps. As far as I'm concerned everything should be in play. Now if someone is marching their whole force down the very edge in single file that may be a little extreme, but for the most part I agree with Womble.
  7. Depends on the size of the map. If you are on a map less than 1 km wide then it's either go up one of the sides or go straight up the middle. It sucks being given 3 options and then told 2 of them are gamey.
  8. Hmm, there are conflicting sources. WWII Vehicles says the psw 223 has 8mm of frontal armor at 37° according to Chamberlain and Doyle, while another source claims 14.5mm at an unspecified slope. The same site lists the 250/1 HT frontal armor as 10mm at 30° and 14.5mm at an unspecified slope. So the two vehicles should have very similar protection. CMBB models the 223 late as having 8mm @ 35°. I don't think that would stand up to .50 cal machine gun fire.
  9. It probably should be for all units, but according to page 88 of the manual that bonus is specific to anti-tank guns only.
  10. IIRC Steve said just last week that they are not going to enable automatic unit position shifting like that.
  11. I think having soldiers sink down into the ground may look even more strange. Would this mean that they would be completely submerged when prone? Levels of protection and concealment can be adjusted via the "micro-terrain" modifiers. In my experience the foxhole made specifically for ATGs is call the trench
  12. In the case of the low berm on which lines of bocage rest, Germans dug pits into the berms themselves. Low walls are an edge situation that would be unlikely in reality since a hole would have to be knocked in the wall.
  13. I think it would have to be if angle is considered at all. But I have not looked into the effects of HEAT much.
  14. From the front at 260 meters it is fairly resistant but not invulnerable. I see a lot of spalling and an occasional partial penetration through the front turret. From the side the .50 goes through it like butter.
  15. I think Elvis has psyched himself out. He's more jittery than a jitterbug and seems convinced that Bil's forces are going to materialize in his midst at any moment. Why would staying in place be suicide?
  16. It's an abstraction. Machine guns deployed behind low cover are assumed to be set up on top of the cover but there is no animation showing it. I don't know if there are any plans to change this.
  17. When evaluating the Sherman it seems a little disingenuous to only consider the vanilla 75mm version. One of the Sherman's strengths was it's adaptability as a platform, the Firefly and Jumbo Shermans being prime examples. Post-war the Israelis were even able to up-gun their Shermans with 105mm cannons.
  18. If you don't find what you're looking for here you might want to try TankNet or GameSquad forums. Specifically, you want to talk to Mobius. He also hangs out on the Matrix Panzer Command Ostfront forums (he worked on the game).
  19. It appears there is going to be a meeting engagement in the East woods. Elvis's advance there would be a fine idea if he were going to set up some ambushes. But given his aggressiveness I think he will keep going until his own guys get bushwhacked. I'm beginning to think Bil could win this fight by simply waiting for Elvis's counterattacks. Interestingly, that was a real tactic used by the Allies to take advantage of the Wehrmacht 's habitual counterattacking. We should probably commend Elvis on his adherence to proper German doctrine.
  20. I was watching Chis Normaldude's Twitch TV thing last night during which one of his T-34/76s shot canister at a German Mobelwagen, although it switched to AP for the second shot.
  21. No, MikeyD has your back. You two against the world. Fortunately, you will probably always have the option of not clicking. From what it sounds like, the decision has already been made. It's a matter of when, not if.
