Fair enough. It looks as though CM:BB wasn't for you - and it isn't for everyone, as you've found out. CM:BB is fun but not, I think, in the way you were hoping. I also know what you mean about the dozens of different units, it can get confusing (and still is for me)

What are "gamey" tactics, exactly?
Soddball replied to Cpt. Cook's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
An example might be a 'gamey flag rush'. You are playing a game and have captured an enemy flag. On the last turn of the game your opponent rushes a unit close to the flag, denying you the points for that flag and altering the result. Although, reasonably, there is no way that player could have kept control of the flag or even taken it from you, the fact that his unit is close enough to the flag to change it to neutral has affected the outcome. CM:BB includes a randomiser, making the end of the game last a random number of turns longer - usually between one and seven turns - negating this effect. There is BadCo's Endgame Randomiser, a free download for CM:BO, which should be available somewhere as a free download. -
Does anyone know of any mirrors? I've been trying to use GetRight to download the patch from CDV's link, and so far I've got 120k in four hours. At this rate, it's going to take me a little over 3 weeks to download it and I have some wives to collect.

What will be my sig punishment should I (no, really, it might happen) fail to win? Remember, you have six months of being my wife, now Dave. -

That title sounds groovy. RIGHT! Gaylord Focker failed to respond to my challenge, proving once and for all that he is a whiny sausage. So, I demand a mighty duel of doom from someone. The penalty for your defeat shall be as follows: In your Sig, you must include the line "I am Soddball's wife" for a period of at least six months. I am going shopping for wives. oooooh, you're my wife now. -
Mike, you're 133. The only lady friends you have are the ones that mop the gruel from your lap.

Play infantry and light armour only, or play in a city. As Russians, take Pioneers, anti-tank rifles and flamethrowers and make him beg for mercy -
Tank Commanders Lose their Bottle!
Soddball replied to coldmeter's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
It does work, but you have to set lots of waypoints and if you do that then you will probably be sitting for 2 minutes waiting for the tank commander to understand his orders! -

I was playing a QB Russian assault and was riding at view 1 on the back of a T34 HQ tank towards the enemy lines when out of nowhere "BOOM!", bits of my tank flew everywhere. Scared me silly. Next time, I made sure I was watching from the infantry perspective. -
