  1. Just ordered it... it would have been terrible after all this to wait two weeks and find you had shipped your whole stock with the US CDs ! That copy is reserved as of 11:55 GMT 21 September, guys.. BTW, don't suppose there is any chance of making it $12 and shipping a CD with the US software with it ? Thought not.. Martin, I have to ask - have you actually seen the CDV manual ? Seems to me that the 90 pages should really be the stuff for those new to Combat Mission, who will form a far larger part of the market than old CMBO farts like me [ September 21, 2002, 07:59 PM: Message edited by: Hertston ]
  2. Tom, No doubt complete with the equally "not official" .pdf file. Martin, Unfortunately, the "juicy parts" are not what I want. The "how to play" stuff is presumably much the same as CM:BO. It's the "boring" stuff that is needed - the details of where the games are different ! [ September 21, 2002, 07:45 PM: Message edited by: Hertston ]
  3. No complaints about paying the $10. The stuff about sending the cover page is unnecessary, pointless and bloody annoying. I assume it's to stop people copying their mate's disk and then getting the manual to go with it - erm, has it actually occured to anybody that that copy will have the .pdf manual on it anyway ?! Stops no piracy at all, and just annoys honest purchasers who want a proper manual (and are paying to get it). Or at least would-be purchasers - without this idiocy the manual could be making it's merry way across the Atlantic during the fortnight until the UK release, so I would have it when I need it. Not impressed, sorry... [ September 21, 2002, 07:36 PM: Message edited by: Hertston ]
  4. I think CDV sorted out most of the problems after the Sudden Strike release - everything they have released since has been more or less OK. SS was a nightmare, something like 15% of buyers couldn't even install it because of incompatibilities with CD or DVD drives.
  5. Just hoping that some kind soul makes the relevant files available so we can "patch up" to the US version from the word go - whereupon the whole thing becomes academic. I guess CDV and BFC would hardly approve, but I don't care much at this point, to be honest.
  6. I don't view it as "minor".. a .pdf manual for a game like this is a major pain in the ass. But I'll still be buying it. I'd settle for an option to buy a printed full manual (not the game, which I will already have, but the manual) from BFC. Say $15 including postage would be money well spent, albeit on top of "full price". It's more convenient and probably cheaper than trying to print it. I just don't believe this stuff about packaging... application software still comes in boxes with full manuals. It's just cost cutting at the expense of customers.
  7. I'm with you Pascal... particularly as I turned down a kind offer for someone to send me a US copy because we were assured we would have the same manual - nothing about a bloody .pdf version though  . For a complex wargame that just isn't acceptable. Frankly, those US posters who view complaints about that as whining get on my tit.. it's not them who have to put up with it (time after time). .pdf manuals are a major pain in the backside, particularly for a game like CM where you need to refer to it on a fairly regular basis. LET US BUY THE US VERSION, AT LEAST BY MAIL !!
  8. Have we heard anything on the manual ? One of the usual problems with Euro versions of anything is that you get lumbered with some crappy pamphlet that will fit in a DVD box and (if you are lucky) you might get the rest as a .pdf file. Anyone got the Euro box release of Beyond Overlord ? Did that have the full manual (173 pages) ?
  9. Maybe you are right... there's usually some kind soul who will e-mail you the relevant files. Sorry, I'd assumed there would be a "box" release over there as well.
  10. Sorry is this has been done to death before, but can you guys recommend a decent online US retailer that will ship the game to the UK ? Seems I can't order from Battlefront and get the "proper" version of the game. I don't want the sanitised version (of what is supposed to be the realistic wargame) CDV seem to be shipping Europe wide - and I don't want their (15% of Sudden Strike buyers couldn't even install it) copy protection. Not to mention that ghastly possibility of seperate US and (late) "Euro" patches... brrrrrrr... Any recommendations welcome - thanks...
