Best War Movies (re-revisited)....
KrazyKnut replied to Maximus's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Check out "Steel Tempest" Its a story about a trapped German SS unit taking place about December , 1944. Special effects aren't to Private Ryan standard but blends rare archive footage. It does shown just what the Germans were suffer through. I think you can still get it through the History channel or A&E -
Veiwpoint One and Full FOW
KrazyKnut replied to Slapdragon's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Slapdragon. Do you just switch between units then rotate view as seen from then units perspective? Or do you roam the battlefield at ground level? I would think the view from each unit without raoming would be the most challeging and realistic. -
I've seen reviews from both CGW and another magazine (can't remember its name), current issues. Basically the both say its awful.

OT DVD/CD ROM Question. Help!
KrazyKnut replied to joeski's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
I bought a Pioneer DVD-113 a year ago. This model came with a DVD/MPEG-2 card. Such a card is necessary if you want to play movies on your TV. At that time you needed at least the software version of MPEG-1 to play movies on the computer. A program (or driver) should have come with your DVD drive for such an event. If not check out Pioneer or Hi-Val (as they just repackage the Pioneer drives) for a DVD program. Your video card should work fine as the resolution is adjust per Windows settings. -
I haven't seen a official date. But the date floating arround the forum is about the end of January.

CM Mod manager trouble...sort of...
KrazyKnut replied to Warmaker's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
I got the same message when I upgraded to v1.0f. Selecting a version of CM in the Configuration tab fixed the problem and I could then exit. -
Thanks for the great program. I upgraded to v1.0f but have one problem, when I press the launch button I get CM v1.05 instead of the Public Beta. When I hold the mouse over the Launch button I do see the tool tip for Public Beta. I'm running Windows ME. Any ideas?

Questions about Weapons
KrazyKnut replied to Morphing Cell's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
What is the purpose of an assault gun? What is it designed to hit? First kudos to Chupacabra for his explanation. The assault gun is an infantry support unit. They were designed to primary engage soft targets so the gun fired HE and a few shaped charges for defense. Unlike a tank they are gun carriages, so lack a turret. Hence cheaper to construct. Lack of turret won't matter so much in engaging slow targets like infantry. These are great for knocking down building bunkers and like. Shoot fast, shoot straight -
Favorite Terrain & Grass Mods
KrazyKnut replied to Mudfrost's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
I find it too hard to track the terrain, even from views 1 and 2, so I'm using Trembelt's Velvet Bumpy Grid. I do think DD's offer the best look if you want to get pictures or movies to post. Shoot fast, shoot straight -
Come on...gimme a freakin' schreck!
KrazyKnut replied to jshandorf's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
You can pick QB but select that you and your opponent pick Manually Purchase Units. You can then get all the schreks you want. You might wan to decide on compositon type before hand Shoot fast, shoot straight -
Just installed new STB drivers on Win Nt4 box at work. Drivers are still available from www.stb.com. Didn't try them with CMBO though. Had problems installing though and took a few tries. Shoot fast, shoot straight
