  1. The rattle of the letter box... A satisfying thud as the package hits the floor... I rush to the door and now I have it in my sticky little hands... A prospectus from Barclay's Stock Brokers.
  2. I got 4 confirmations, so I probably got yours. Either that or BFC is setting up a side-line selling Viagra.
  3. Nah, if you use EFOW, They mostly only appear as 'Infantry Squad?' anyway.
  4. Oh well, at least I now have an excuse for not reading the post I'm replying to.
  5. You should feel at home here then, if, however, the dogs laugh at you and throw the rocks back, try the MBT .
  6. Get hold of his book, Tank if you can, it's been desribed as the best books ever on WW2 tank warfare. It's set in Normandy, so probably a bit off-topic for this forum.
  7. Well in the UK the full size box is a thing of the past, you only see them in second-hand stores these days. Retailers prefer the DVD size because they save shelf space and games companies are so desperate to get their games on the shelf that they comply. I guess the switch is permanant and for most games, not a bad thing, I always threw the old boxes away to save space, but I tend to keep the newer ones. Of course if you order direct from BFC you get neither . [ December 02, 2003, 12:09 AM: Message edited by: Firefly ]
  8. Yes, it's a well known historical fact that all German held positions in WW2 has huge, 50 foot square swastika flags fying over them .
  9. Ah, OK, GAME is the name that Electronic Boutique use in the UK and they have branches all over London, so your brother shouldn't have too much difficulty finding one.
  10. Their catalogue is online, but it looks like you have to visit or contact them for the actual photos. (Off topic: When I glanced just now I did find a brief clip of an interview with Ken Tout about the end of Wittman - 'In real war everybody hides, so there's not much to see...')
  11. Just saw some copies in GAME in Kingston, but on Friday they hadn't even heard of it, so I'd check your nearest again today if I were you.
  12. I just saw it on the shelf of the same branch of GAME that told me on Friday that they hadn't heard of it (muppets), for £19-99, so it looks like it is finally out in the UK.
  13. Yes, it was introduced in CMBB, any fire called on turn 1 will be considered a preparatory barrage, it will arrive faster, but as you noticed can't be adjusted or cancelled. TRPs only make it arrive even faster an be more accurate, you can use TRPs as you did in CMBO on other turns. [ December 01, 2003, 03:11 AM: Message edited by: Firefly ]
  14. Pity they didn't tell the shops about it, I couldn't find it anywhere (I looked in GAME, HMV and Virgin) and when I asked, GAME hadn't even heard of it. If I'm going to order it by mail, I'd rather get it from BFC.
  15. Looks like you managed to find out the UK release date, well done. Edit to add: Seriously, if I were you I'd cancel the Amazon order and pre-order from BFC, they'll ship the game from Ireland so you'll probably get it faster. [ November 29, 2003, 09:56 PM: Message edited by: Firefly ]
  16. Alt + tab (Windows standard), same as CMBB, CMBO used ESC (Mac standard).
  17. Not in the UK you can't, the game hasn't been released here yet and December 5th is only a week away, not a fortnight, not even the British Post Office have found a way of delaying post from Ireland for a week. Everything else I've ordered form BFC since they opened their Irish warehouse seems to only take a couple of days. [ November 28, 2003, 03:48 PM: Message edited by: Firefly ]

  20. Well no sign of the CDV version on the shelves in the UK and the staff in the one shop where I asked (GAME) didn't even have the game on their release schedule, so BFC just got my pre-order.
  21. Wild Bill is still around and still occasionally posts here. He's designed some of the scenarios on the disc for CMAK. WWB, however, is a different person .
  22. Nice move by Seanachai; wearing a top hat so he looks the same height as Soddball.
  23. I read a book about Normandy once by a former 11th Armoured officer, and he described being impressed by the sight of a veteran 7th Armoured (Desert Rats) troop going into action - close enough to provide covering fire, spread out enough not to all get knocked out by the same 88, turrets turned to provide maximum cover etc., but what really impressed him was the professional way they had stowed their tea-making equipement.
  24. CDV have announced a release date of 28th November, but it's not clear if that's just Germany or the whole of Europe, although it looks like it's already on the shelves in Finland.
  25. I'll go to the shop on the 28th November and see if it's been released in the UK, if it hasn't I'll preorder from BFC. In either case I shall insist on paying in groats .
