  1. Bill H and Wade are right. The rest of you are eye-candy hounds.
  2. It IS Alt-Shift-; to activate the escape key. Madmatt is wrong. That's OK Matt. You made up for it with the CMAK sounds. I love 'em.
  3. Thanks, Matt! I was doing Shift-Cntrl-Period. I was sure that was the combo.
  4. One major change for me is that my "ESC" key no longer seems to do its thing. This is annoying....majorly so, actually. Treeburst155 out.
  5. Yeah, I had to mod that too for my brain to deal with it properly. Now where is my "Esc" key option? Treeburst155 out.
  6. Rule Book? You mean, like a manual? From the CMAK Demo readme that nobody reads: " 32 page printed Quick Guide with removable Quick Reference Card, and 210+ page PDF manual" I see no manual mentioned here. If I can't take it to the head with me, it ain't a manual. Treeburst155 out.
  7. It depends on your operating system. I've found that the 40.72 drivers work excellently with Win ME and a Ti4200. I can use full FSAA and full AF with NO alt-tabbing. I cannot use 2x or Quincunx FSAA however, unless I am willing to alt-tab. With Win XP, things are a bit worse. I have to go back to the 30.xx drivers to avoid alt-tabbing if I want FSAA. The problem with the 30.xx drivers is that you have no Anisotropic Filtering available unless you download an app like RivaTuner. AF really makes CM look better. I think it helps every bit as much as FSAA. Treeburst155 out.
  8. I love threads like this. You'll have CMAK on your drive in mid-December of 2003. You'll be in possession of the new engine late in September of 2006. Absolute minimum system requirements for CM2 will be the $150 video card you bought last week, 256 MB RAM, and a 2 gig processor. Treeburst155 out. Edited because I just noticed Rune's "sneek peek" thread. [ October 07, 2003, 12:23 AM: Message edited by: Treeburst155 ]

  10. Yup, you know that's right. I've been doing 60 turn 1,000 pointer PBEMs. I love 'em. The attacker probes, then attacks. He doesn't wait for the last few turns because he is fully ready long before then. If things go badly for the attacker, and the defender is mobile, he can counterattack. There is time for all this good stuff, and no flag rush. Are the first 20 turns slow? Yes, but there are noteworthy events that happen during the period. It is slow; but not boring to me. How much time does it take to hit "Go" and send a file? 3 minutes? Does one player spend 20 turns hunting down the last of his defeated opponent's routed troops? No. I've yet to play an opponent who doesn't know when it's time to surrender or call a ceasefire. Unlimited turns? Unnecessary IMO. Hidden turns? I'll never play a scenario like that. I can't believe people want a "game over" screen right in the middle of a tense fight. We'll not only have too short of scenarios, we won't know exactly how "too short" they are. Yuck! 11. Without grogs, CM would not be what it is. In fact, I doubt there would be a CM if their were no grognards. Some of us realize this. Treeburst155 out.
  12. Ah well, it was fun being a newb with no checkered past. It was fun trolling the general forum's political threads on occasion too. I've been doing a lot of PBEM and posting lately. It's time to give CM a break. Besides, I'm starting to make some serious progress with my C++ programming. I need to put my nose to the grindstone again so I can make my Sci-Fi CM clone. Long Live the Peng Challenge!! It's a Mutha Beautiful Thread! Treeburst155, returning to the grave...and taking that ignoramous CrankyKris with him unfortunately. I hope Roxy doesn't mind.
  13. Thanks, Michael, I see now how it works. I believe we did have an engineer unit, and the infantry had M113s, lots of them. They must have been armored infantry (mechanized?). I blew my CrankyKris alias in the Peng Thread awhile ago by accident, so I might as well post as Treeburst here. I'm going into lurker mode again anyway. Thanks again for the info. I really appreciate your taking the time. You grogs are alright in my book. Treeburst155 out.
  14. Now Mr Spkr, leave Roxy out of your perverted little fantasies. I don't appreciate you forcing me to rise from the grave to defend her honor. Say what you will about me; but lay off the dearly departed Roxy, who lies beside me. Your REALLY don't want to get her too riled up anyway. She's been a real hellion since she's been dead. Take it from me. Treeburst155 out.
  15. Why not continue playing if you're having fun? I just thought the problem was severe enough that participants should know that several of the scenarios are currently in the hands of many people. I'd hate to have participants discover that by reading a thread on the Scenario Forum. The competition aspect of this event is over as far as I'm concerned. I'll not be spending any more time on it. Treeburst155 out.
  16. This tourney is cancelled. See my latest post to the following thread for details. http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=23&t=005112&p=10#000245 Treeburst155 out.
  17. Well guys, I have some bad news. Several of you have reported coming into possession of more than one of the ROW III scenarios. You have also informed me of the circumstances surrounding the acquisition. Considering these things, it is safe to say that FOW has been severely compromised. I wouldn't be surprised to see threads on the scenario forum pop up in a matter of weeks or even days concerning several of our "unreleased" scenarios. I don't think there was any malicious intent with regard to the release of ROW III scenarios. It is more likely the result of a lack of communication. Nevertheless, I am cancelling my involvement with this tournament. It's not an ROW tourney if everybody and his brother have the scenarios. I have better things to do with my free time than tend to a ruined tournament. Treeburst155 out.
  18. Beckman, Yeah, I'll make sure nobody draws the Allied heavy schedule two tourneys in a row, unless they actually want it. I keep the old input files so it's easy to keep track of it. Treeburst155 out.
  19. I forgot one important thing I wanted to begin doing that Beckman reminds me of in his post above. One player in each section will play 4 games as the Allies. All other players will be 3-2 or 2-3. I can manipulate who this player is by the order I list the players in the scheduling program's input file. Do I have any volunteers for the 4 Allied games? Treeburst155 out.
  20. Becket, I'll be sure your email address is changed when I send the Contact List out. EVERYTHING will happen tomorrow, Contact Lists, game schedules, scenario briefings, passwords, and game files for the German side to start the PBEMs. I hope to have all this done by tomorrow night (GMT -6). I don't have to work tomorrow!! Knaust, The hat is a rather high quality baseball style hat. In fact, it's probably the nicest baseball cap I've ever seen, except for one thing. There's a big patch on the front advertising the "Viagra Racing Team". I got it from my 78 year old neighbor who barely speaks English. I can't bring myself to wear it, so it serves as my random schedule generator. Treeburst155 out.
  21. Now Beckman, you'll know the answer to this soon enough. Treeburst155 out.
  22. John, I received this Game Report from Tero on Friday, January 24th at 1000 hours, AFTER I sent you the results file. It will be recorded for the Nabla scored scenarios database. Treeburst155 out.
  23. The official deadline for game results and AARs is Easter Sunday, April 20th. Kingfish, I have a couple/three AARs that just came in. I'll send them to you on Sunday after I record them (points). I'm too tired to do any tourney work tonight. I've been at work 30 of the last 48 hours. Fight ON!! Treeburst155 out.
  24. ...but Hardcampa, what if you're conducting an assault or two or three or five?! Treeburst155 out. [ January 24, 2003, 10:17 PM: Message edited by: Treeburst155 ]
