  1. I vote no restrictions on 75/81mm mortars. I just make sure my guys have their helmets on for that stuff. It seems to work out OK. Treeburst155 out.
  2. But Iron Duke, my map is Gamey!! I can't put my 38 guns on a gamey map. Treeburst155 out.
  3. OK, I understand the restrictions now. Thanks guys. I think I may be able to squeeze in 38 guns if I juggle experience levels a bit. Treeburst155 out.
  4. Do not negotiate games via ICQ or other chat programs. In the case of a dispute I don't think it is possible to send me a file of the conversation so I have proof of what rules were agreed to. This has already happened. Use email to negotiate games! Treeburst155 out.

  6. WineCape, Marcus is now in your slot for Tourney #2, hereafter referred to as "WineCape's Wine Tourney II". Thank you VERY much for sponsoring this second tourney! I'm practically speechless at this point. To all participants in WineCape's Wine Tourney II, You will be receiving your contact list within a few hours so you can begin arranging your games. The deadline for completion of your games will be September 4th, 2001. I will begin a separate thread for this tourney sometime today. All updates and stats for the tourney will be posted there. Right now I have a small dispute to deal with from Tourney #1. EDIT: I'm waiting to hear from WineCape's friend Marcus Bloess to be sure he wants in. If not I've got an alternate ready to go. Hang tight, Gentlemen. Treeburst155 out. [ 06-03-2001: Message edited by: Treeburst155 ]
  7. Hi Iron Duke, The thread with the rules is kaput and I'm not sure I remember the unit restrictions. I remember it was 2,000 pts. and max 3 SMG platoons but what was the arty restriction? How about towed guns? Thanks!! Treeburst155 out. [ 06-03-2001: Message edited by: Treeburst155 ]
  8. StugIII and Tank Buster, There's nothing stopping you two from starting game negotiations if you want. You'll have to play each other soon anyway. I'm just waiting until tomorrow night before I send out the contact list to be relatively sure nobody decides to back out. So far, so good. Treeburst155 out. Treeburst155 out.
  9. Yes, this is the thread for the Combined Arms Cash Tourney, aka Tourney #1; but now officially called "WineCape's Wine Tourney". Right now we have a 10 way tie for first place! All players are undefeated! All players are winless too. I told you guys I'd keep you updated. Treeburst155 out.
  10. I am assuming all participants have received their contact list since I haven't heard different from anyone. My spreadsheet is ready for results when you guys are ready to report. Treeburst155 out.
  11. Uh oh! I'm in trouble as I haven't done but a game or two of TCP/IP. Oh well, that will just even up the odds a bit. Treeburst155 out.
  12. Combined Arms Tourney #2 (PBEM) is now tentatively filled. I will be emailing all participants a contact list of their opponents within 48hrs. Since it has been several days since some of you have signed up for Tourney #2 I would like to verify that all are still willing and able to participate. The following people make up Tourney #2: StugIII, chuckle, WineCape, Tincan, Fangorn, tank buster, gashford, Stevetherat, MrSpkr, and Sledge. If you are on this list but CANNOT participate please post to this thread and let me know. Treeburst155 out.
  13. Zahl, I do believe you are right on this "degree of victory" thing. I've never looked at it that way before. Treeburst155 out.
  14. You can read a condensed version of my Tourney Rules here: http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=019311 Treeburst155 out.
  15. Hmmm....random forces. I would say that if players agree to random forces that would be fine. You would have to be willing to play "non-random" however if any of your nine opponents did not want to have a random game. I think it's safe to say you wouldn't get a whole lot of people to use random forces. I think they like to pick. Random forces sure is a gutsy way to play though. I've still got one more slot to fill (possibly two) in tourney #2 (PBEM) and 9 slots open in the TCP/IP tourney requested by Agua. Let's go TCPers! Remember, there's no reason these tourney games can't count for several of the ladders. Treeburst155 out. [ 06-01-2001: Message edited by: Treeburst155 ]
  16. We start when we get 10 guys. Just like the other tourneys I'll send out a contact list at that time of all your opponents and start a separate thread for the TCP/IP tourney updates and stats. Prizes are of course up in the air. I think we got lucky with WineCape's sponsorship of the first tournament. Time will tell however. Treeburst155 out.
  17. Hi Agua! I've been thinking about that ever since you bowed out. How about this: TCP/IP Tournament Now Open!! Players must be willing and able to play TCP/IP in this tourney. PBEM is allowed only if your opponent agrees to it. Thinking time to be negotiated by players. All rules are the same as my PBEM tourneys. Agua has slot 1 for the first TCP/IP tourney. Please specify TCP/IP when you sign up so I don't put you in a PBEM tourney. Treeburst155 out.
  18. Mr Spkr is in at slot 9 for the second tournament! It's good to see Poolers showing interest. I don't really know why I think that's good, but it is. Treeburst155 out.
  19. This is the official thread for this tournament. All updates and stats for the tourney will be posted here. Since this is the first of many such tourneys I hope to get going I will post the Official Rules for all my tourneys here and link to it from now on when necessary. Tournament Rules and Description This is a PBEM tournament. TCP/IP is fine but you must be willing to PBEM an opponent that will not or cannot do TCP/IP. There will be TCP/IP tourneys if there is enough interest. Ten players per tournament, each participant plays the other nine one time, victory points are accumulated from game to game, the highest total at the end wins. CAL Rules must be used in all games. These are posted at Tournament House. Game length is to be 25 turns +/- 4 using the BER. A secure version of the BER will be available very soon according to TeAch. Maximum game size is 1,500 pts. It is up to tourney participants to arrange games and negotiate game parameters (within CAL limits) amongst themselves. I will provide a contact list to participants at the beginning of each tourney for this purpose. All games must be played in 90 days. Extentions may be necessary but will never go beyond 120 days. If a player drops out or doesn't meet the deadline ALL games played by him are discarded and all players' accumulated scores adjusted. If you had already scored 90 pts. against the drop out you are just out of luck. Dropouts will be blacklisted from further tournaments unless they can prove they had a massive heart attack or something comparable. All disputes will be arbitrated by the Honorable Judge Treeburst155 of the First International Court of Tourney Disputes. Players should keep email regarding game parameters and rules agreed upon with other players. I cannot resolve a disputed unit purchase if I don't have proof of the rules agreed to for the game. Any questions regarding the above can be sent to Mikeman@cablelynx.com for a prompt response. Do not post Rules questions here. I will update these rules as necessary based on questions received through email as I'm sure I've left something out. WHEW!! Treeburst155 out. 20. Hi Stevie! I like your sig. You are IN for Tournament #2 which will begin very shortly. I've got just two more spaces to fill. If you haven't already done so you should wade through the thread to find out the rules and such. I am in the process of posting a condensed version of how the tourneys work, rules, etc. at this time. Welcome aboard! Treeburst155 out.
  21. tank buster and gashford are in for tournament #2. That leaves 3 slots still open, possibly 4 as Winecape may have to bow out depending on when #2 starts. I'm going to separate out each tourney into it's own thread to keep things organized. This thread will be used to sign up for new tournaments and general chat regarding prizes and sponsors. Each tournament will be named after the sponsor and the prize he is donating. The first tournament, already underway, will be called "WineCape's Wine Tourney. The second tourney, to start soon, is unsponsored at this point so a name is yet to be determined. In the absence of a sponsor tourneys will still go on. They will be called "Combined Arms Tourney #X". If you would like to sponsor a tournament (provide a prize to the winner) this is the place to post. I am going to post a clear, concise set of the rules that were hashed out earlier in this thread so they are conveniently available. Remember, each individual tournament will have its own thread where I will post updates, statistics, etc.. This thread is for interested players to sign up and for people to volunteer to sponsor a tournament if they want. Treeburst155 out
  22. WineCape, I finally got some time to carefully read your descriptions of the various wines you are sending. It was quite an education for me. I certainly hope the winner realizes what he's getting here. It appears you are sending not just good wines, but the finest wines on the continent, maybe on two or three continents. To the first ten: DID YA HEAR THAT YOU BEER GUZZLING BELCHERS?! If you win this tournament WineCape is going to introduce you to culture, sophistication, style and class through his wines. I hope you can handle it. Treeburst155 out.
  23. Tournament One is underway. Hopefully you ten guys are communicating with your nine opponents, or at least a few of them. Don't put it off too long. WineCape's wine will get better with age but the $50 buys less every day it seems. Tournament Two now has five people signed up. They are StugIII, chuckle, WineCape, Tincan, and Fangorn. We'll wait for a day or two and see if we can get to 10 people. If not, I don't see any reason why the five of you couldn't have a little 4 games per person match. I think we'll get more however. If you Tournament Two guys haven't looked over this thread rather thoroughly yet you probably should so you understand what's going on. I know it's long but you can find the important stuff fairly easily I think. Read the first couple pages. I'm not sure there will be much of a prize for this second tourney. How do you guys feel about a barely used retail copy of Talonsoft's "Rising Sun" complete with the manual for a prize? It's no CM but I had fun with it for a few weeks. There's actually a bit of a learning curve involved. It's not a kiddie game, that's for sure. It's definitely a wargamer's wargame. Treeburst155 out.
  24. So round two is just around the corner now. That's great! I'm ready to dash Harpooner's hopes for my trophy. I suppose just to keep things fair I should go ahead and take the Poles or the Canucks. To really be fair to the rest of you I should actually be using Red Cross nurses. Treeburst155 out.
  25. Hi guys! My ISP has been down for twenty hours so I'm just catching up. Now, unfortunately I have to go to work for a few hours. You new guys wanting to join a second tournament are IN. I think I've still got a couple more slots left but I really gotta go now. I'll check later. Thanks again to WineCape for his most generous offer. Can you guys appreciate a good wine (or six)? Maybe I should just have him ship it all to me, eh? See ya in a few hours. Treeburst155 out.
