  1. Kiwi Joe needs to be humbled fellas. Who's gonna do the honors? Don't let him walk away with the wine and cash. He'll be insufferable.
  2. WineCape tells me that The Pool has chosen (allowed?)Jshandorf to represent them in this tournament. Welcome aboard Jshandorf if this is true! Post here if you really beat the nomination out of them (or if you sacrificed your firstborn to the gods of Peng to get the nomination). We've also signed up a couple really big stars tonight. Martin "Moon" Turewicz and Bill Hardenberger have agreed to participate. For those of you unfamiliar with these two guys check your credits in the front of your CM manual. Nuff said. Welcome aboard Bill and Moon!! More invitations will be going out in the next couple days. I've got to hunt down some email addresses first. Treeburst155 out. 3. I was sure hoping this question wouldn't come up. I've been pondering it myself for a week now. The Sturmgruppen squads definitely do not fall under the 3 platoon SMG rule IMO. The reason being they are not cheap. It is my understanding that the developer of the CAL rules (Abbott?) was trying to limit the CHEAP SMG squads like Volksgrenadiers. Using the same reasoning I see no reason why a person couldn't buy as many Gebirgsjaegers as he wants. They are not especially cheap AND that player gives up all armor. In fact, when using Gebirgsjaegers they will have trouble using all their 1,500 points in a combined arms engagement since all those armor points are wasted. Fusilier SMG platoons definitely fall under the CAL restriction. Regular Fusilier platoons do not as they only have one SMG squad per platoon. Panzergrenadier platoons (motorized) do not fall under the restriction because they cost more than a regular platoon for the 50% SMG capabilities. Judge Treeburst155 out.
  4. Hey there, Iron Duke! Did you ever get Harpooner's force pick? If so, I never got my round two final map. Treeburst155 out.
  5. Ahhh... the Cesspool is having a nomination meeting I assume. It must be a bloody mess in there as they rip each other apart limb by limb. May the smelliest man win! This tourney shall surely put his CM skills to the test and I'm just pleased as punch we'll have a "Star" from the Pool in the tournament. Three cheers for the Pool!!
  6. Way to go Sajer! You'll be making some good time with three games going. My cable modem is once again working so send all game results, disputes, etc. to Mikeman@cablelynx.com. The first finished game of the tournament has been reported. It seems Kiwi Joe beat Stalin's Organ by a score of 83-17. It looks like Kiwi Joe may be a tough nut to crack fellas. The Standings: #1 Kiwi Joe 83 pts. #2 Stalin's Organ 17 pts. #3 All the rest of you 0 pts. [ 06-12-2001: Message edited by: Treeburst155 ]
  7. Jshandorf, Good luck with the Pool. We'd be happy to have you as their official representative. Make sure I get an email or post here when you finish beating the nomination out of them. My cable modem is working once again so send mail to Mikeman@cablelynx.com. Treeburst155 out.
  8. OK, StevetheRat had to pull out of the fight due to real life. Good luck with your new home, Steve. Obviously that means the rest of you have one less game to play to get the prize wines. My cable modem is back up so you can send game scores once again to Mikeman@cablelynx.com.
  9. Just a bump so I don't lose the thread. I don't trust the search function much anymore. So what's the scoop troops? Treeburst155 out.
  10. Many invitees I've talked to so far have expressed some concern over the number of games that need to be played, especially if we get 20 players (19 games for each player). Rest assured this tournament can go on for as long as it takes. I want the players to enjoy their games, not feel like they have to go to "work" on their tournament games. Think of this tournament as a mini-ladder that will come to an end. If you're at the top at the end you are more than likely the best Combat Mission player of the group. A steady, comfortable pace is all that is necessary for these games, "steady" being the key word. Treeburst155 out.
  11. SuperTed and Michael Dorosh have agreed to participate along with one other less visible star who was invited because of his extreme reliability and quick turn-around in PBEM games, not to mention his sense of humor. If you've PBEMed him you know what I mean. Announcing the ultimate PBEM opponent anyone could ever ask for, it's Mick_OZ!! Thank you SuperTed, Michael, and Mick
  12. The first round of invitations has gone out. The invitees have 7 days to respond. I expect many, if not most, to decline the offer for one reason or another. I suspect most of our "stars" are very busy people. In 7 days another batch of invitations will go out. Fortunately, there is an abundance of "stars" in the CM community. We will have the tournament filled before mid July, which is when I want to start it. In the meantime I am making BALANCED custom maps for the tournament. They are nothing special but the human touch is evident. No player will see the same map twice. Treeburst155 out.
  13. My cable modem ISP is down for the count. I mean it is knocked out cold and has been for days now. Until further notice my email address is RCMein@aol.com. I'm changing my profile to reflect this. Treeburst155 out.

  15. Yes folks, WineCape is sponsoring yet another tournament for which I will be the manager. Invitations to the tournament will be sent out within 48 hours. There are many more people who deserve and invitation than the tournament could possibly handle. WineCape and I compiled a list of over 40 CM community members that we had to choose from and I'm sure we forgot many more worthy folks completely. The reason we can accept no more that 20 participants is that the tourney is designed to accurately determine the skill of the participants relative to each other. The drawback to a tourney like this is that you can't start with a wide field of participants at the beginning. The event would simply be too monstrous to manage. Each player will play one game against each of the other participants. The victory point totals will accumulate from game to game with the highest total at the end being the winner of the prize wines. My $50 US bonus prize will be aimed at those who are not doing so well as the tournament progresses. For example, Steve Grammont (I wish) may be winless after 5 games. I might put up a $50 cash prize to Steve if he can win his sixth game. If he fails to win his sixth then the bonus prize would be offered again at a later date to some other struggling player. One way or another the bonus prize will be won by somebody before the tournament's end. As the invitations are accepted the names of the participants will be posted here. There will be an interesting mix of players involved. It is our hope that this will be a fun event for the community to follow for the next several months at least. Treeburst155 out. 16. To The Pool, I personally would consider it an honor if the members of the Pool would choose from among their own a representative to take part in WineCape's Invitational CM Tourney. I've enjoyed reading the Peng thread for many months (years?) now and feel the forum and the CM community in general would lack a certain something if there were no Pool. I also know there is a fair amount of CM talent among you. Since we are trying to organize a tournament of prominent CM citizens and/or very skilled players it would be a crime not to invite The Pool to send one of their own as The Pool is both prominent and skilled IMO. If The Pool is interested simply send me a name within 72 hours so I can send your representative a formal invitation complete with the tournament mechanics, etc.. I would suggest you nominate one of your best tacticians as the competition will be very stiff. Sincerely, Treeburst155 DIE-A-LOT NOW!!
  17. Iron Duke, I just got email from my opponent, Harpooner. He wants the Jerries so I'll be sending my ultra-asskicking Allied purchases to you sometime tomorrow. Treeburst155 out.
  18. Hi Agua, We're not doing too well with the TCP/IP signups. I've got you and one other guy, Mike_D, that have expressed interest. I suspect that those who like to use the CAL rules generally like the leisurely pace of PBEM too(more time to think). Perhaps I should start a thread for a TCP/IP tournament. I've already got 3 threads going however. I'm not sure the community wants to wade through too many of my tourney threads. Of course, you could start a thread and see if you can drum up some TCPers. If you do I'll keep an eye on it. Treeburst155 out.
  19. Soddball, Tourney II is closed, but it does have 11 people in it so each person will have to play 10 games. Our benefactor, WineCape, had requested that a friend of his be allowed in so it was done. The 90 day deadline is not set in stone, especially since there is now an extra game for everyone to play. We'll just see how things progress. Treeburst155 out.
  20. Who else has started playing already? Treeburst155 out.
  21. This is the official thread for WineCape's SECOND wine tourney. All stats and updates for this tournament will be posted here. This and any tourney specific thread I start may drop several pages back at times so just do a search for "Wine Tourney" and you'll find it. For clarification of tourney rules click here: http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=019311 Treeburst155 out.
  22. The contact list of all participants in "WineCape's Wine Tourney II" has been sent out. If you did not get the list post to this thread. You should begin negotiating and setting up games with each other as soon as possible. Wives, girlfriends, and real life must take a backseat. Priorities, Gentlemen, priorities! Treeburst155 out.
  23. Hmmm...Tom brings up something I didn't realize before. The negotiations that resulted in the misunderstanding revolved around CHANGING the CAL rules. There are many options in the CAL rules that need to be negotiated but CHANGING the CAL rules should not be allowed IMO. The game in question was invalid from the very beginning as CAL rules were being changed. From now on players should avoid CHANGING CAL rules in their negotiations. There are plenty of options WITHIN the rules to dicker with. Any disputes that arise because players have agreed to CHANGE the CAL rules will automatically result in the game having to be replayed. IOW, CHANGING the CAL rules is not allowed. Judge Treeburst155 out. [ 06-04-2001: Message edited by: Treeburst155 ]
  24. Ooops, looks like I missed a page when I was reviewing the thread. So I can have 35 guns and 35 81mm if I want. I like that. I can't pick my asskickers until Harpooner lets me know which side he wants to pick his pansies from. I've emailed him. Treeburst155 out.
