1. yep, it's related to FSAA, and I went back to the 30.82s, problem solved. Many thanks
2. Strange little bug. Not critical, but somewhat annoying. I recently updated my NVidia drivers to the 40.41 release and I'm beginning to regret that. I play a lot of PBEM. Before the upgrade, when I entered my password to open up a move, I could see the password as I typed it. Likewise, when I saved the file, the program displayed the previous filename, and typically I would just change the last number. I assume this is normal behavior. Since the upgrade, I can still type in my password, but no text shows up in the input field. The cursor moves as I type each letter, but no text is displayed on screen. Same for saving E-mail files. The text is not displayed on screen. Everything works, but I can't see what I'm typing. Anyone got any clues on this one? I'm baffled as to even where to start. My system is an Athlon 2100+, 512 mb RAM, Geforce 3 Ti200 card.
3. TB, Many thanks. Just got the results this afternoon. chaz@cgidesign.net works too (I have a *lot* of E-mail addresses). Thanks again.
4. TB, I E-mailed you asking for a copy of the scores. If you're busy, no rush. If for some reason you didn't get the E-mail, could you please send me a copy? I've finished all my games in Tourney III sec 4. vadr@jg2.org or chaz@advances.com Thanks much!
5. I have invaded Heidelberg twice as a member of the Tourist Brigade. It's one of my favorite cities in Europe. Absolutely beautiful. I have been known to fortify in the Hard Rock Cafe, but never in the McDonalds or Burger King.
6. It is finished... FWIW, I had no trouble getting Ozzie to finish a game, but he may have been burned out of his home or something (he's in Colorado). Tourney III, Section 4, I enjoyed it. Salute! to you all and Viel Glueck in the tourney! [ July 23, 2002, 10:43 PM: Message edited by: Vadr ]
7. Hobo and I are back in contact, 2 turns left in this my last game...
8. Hobo, The turn I sent last Monday was number 78 and I just sent it again. I'm expecting 79 from you and have not yet received it. Glad you'll have a little more time, I've the feeling you'll need it...
9. Hobo? Wo bist du? I have sent the turn I owe you twice. If you have not received it, please post here to that effect. 4 games complete, 1 to go...
10. 3 games complete, 2 more in the home stretch. Oh yeah...Punt [ July 05, 2002, 03:28 PM: Message edited by: Vadr ]
11. Tourney III Section 4, I will be out of town all weekend starting Friday evening, back in action on Monday.
12. bah! I gambled early and got lucky. Well fought Sir. All my games are proceeding apace. Some more quickly than others, but all on track. Great set of Scenarios B&T.
13. An interesting read. http://www.strategypage.com/articles/casualty/default.asp I think CMBO models these concepts quite well.
14. I've had some E-mail problems this afternoon. If anyone sent me a move and had it bounce back, please re-send. Thnaks
15. Yeah, OK, I understand that the bunker *can* be killed by the 75mm. I killed one in our first run through the op. But my question is: Why kill chance "None"? I tell the Chaffee to shoot at the pillbox, but he thinks he can't kill it and so he throws smoke at it (doh). The same Chaffee can kill a Sturmgeschutz at 700 meters, with kill chances like "OK" and "Good", but a wooden bunker gets "None"? I'm not really complaining, I'd just like to know if there's a reason for it. As many of you have pointed out, the gun will usually kill the bunker anyway.
16. Is this a bug, or some subtle matter of physics I don't understand? I'm helping a friend playtest an operation. He has two wooden pillbox MGs, I have 4 Chaffee tanks. At 700 meters and slightly less, my Chaffees (75mm, 619m/s main gun) have a kill chance of 'None' against these wooden pillboxes. Issat right?
17. I'll be glad to help Pritzl, I'm playing games against rifle+, apex++, -cuzn- and =bjh== these days. I'm sure I can find an opponent to help me PBEM it. vadr@jg2.org PS - you need to do some flyin' my friend. Have you tried IL-2 yet?
18. Well, I lost Mighty Mouse because I played like a Tournament Newbie. Things started off very well. I left one section of Pumas in overwatch and advanced a section to good hull-down positions on the right while moving my Infantry to the center. I found good positions for my HMGs and placed my 81mms in battery with the Company Commander as their FO. Some French Armored Cars appeared on the map, and my Pumas did terrific execution in the long-range duel, killing 4 for the loss of one. My first reinforcements went to the left side, again seeking hull-down positions at the crest. When they stuck their noses up they again found French ACs. The duel didn't go quite as well this time, resulting in a 2-2 vs result. Still, at this point (about turn 6) I was way ahead: I'd killed 6 of his for the loss of 3 of mine and had taken no Infantry casualties at all. I sent my second group of reinforcements around to the left but kept them behind the ridge, left some Infantry on the crest to keep an eye on his armor, and advanced the bulk of my Infantry through the wooded area in the center. I feel that if I'd left my units in these positions and waited for him to come to me, I'd have won easily. However, I have a tendency to be over-aggressive. I advanced 3 Pumas to the wheat field in the center of the map, hoping to take any advance by my opponent on my left in-flank. Unfortunately, I took far too long to get my Infantry up to support them. Also, when Ligur pulled his armor away from my left, I rushed into the gap on that side with two Pumas, leaving two in overwatch. In the last 5 turns, I found myself in a close-range fight with the majority of his Infantry for the hill in the center of the map. His Bazooka teams did serious execution among my Pumas, and his armor was far more effective in this shorter-range situation. In the end, I lost *all* of my armor and two platoons of Infantry, and that was all she wrote. I congratulate Ligur on the win. This was a fun little scenario and an interesting tactical problem. I look forward to the next Tourney!
19. The Tournament bracket web pages have been updated, and are current for Round 2. http://www.jg2.org/cmbo/ Any mistakes are mine, but ya gotta let Ted know so he can tell me to correct them. Good Luck to the Round 2 players!
20. The Prayer of the Combat Soldier: God, grant me the patience to wait until the gunsight settles, THEN breathe, half-exhale, and slooowly squeeze the trigger. May my knife edge always be sharp (the non-sawblade side, that is), my grenade pins firmly bent, my radio batteries always charged, and the artillery immediately on call. Please let my close air support NOT be cross-eyed, loaded only with 500 pounders (and the target at DANGER CLOSE), and having to pee. May the sound of an entrenching tool chopping into an enemy's back always seem sweeter than the giggle of a pretty girl. And may I once...just once...get to see the poor bastige who hits my trip wire.
21. The page is not out of date. Ted typically sends me various results throughout the day, and I post them early the next morning. I will be out of town Thursday thru Sunday this week, so there will be a delay in updates until Monday the 21st. Regards,
22. Excellent PBEM Operation. Just finished playing it as the Germans (and lost, barely). Good map, excellent force balance, interesting fight. Highly recommended. ...and yes, my review is posted at the Scenario Depot. My complements to the designer.
23.
quote:
he is very exited to be in the competition

Excited...Ted means Excited. He hasn't exited yet...
24. It is over, ligur wins round 1 52-48. Ours was not really a blood-bath, more a true game of hide-and-seek, especially at the end. A nice little scenario, very tense. Salute! SuperTed. [ 12-12-2001: Message edited by: Vadr ]
