I'd like to apologise for saying G*dd*m!
Lordfluffers replied to Lordfluffers's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Madmatt I could kiss you if it wasn't for the fact that we are seperated by thousands of miles and I dont know what you like and I could be arrested and... -
Id like to make a written statement about the aformentioned incident... I in no way intended to offend anybody by using the phrase GODDAM. This was merely an attempt to catch the attention of BTS and vent my frustation at not yey owning CMBB. I am also a little short of social skills and often use poor language at inappropriate times. For this I am sorry. I'd like to particularly apologise to Madmatt. I know what a sensitive young man he is and did not mean to upset him. P.S. I thought begging might do SOMETHING!!! Just a strategy I'd thought I'd try. Who knows? P.P.S. Why are people so G*DD*M touchy? [ February 20, 2002, 11:42 AM: Message edited by: Lordfluffers ]

In CMBO, buildings that are damaged have a * or ** in the bottom corner denotating 50% and 75% damage. Will CMBB display different BMPs for each of these stages or not? I.e a 50% damaged bmp for each builfding type etc. I hope so because towns in CMBO are far too clean. The buildings are either spotless or rubble!

Spotted a Bug in CMBB Pictures on CMHQ
Lordfluffers replied to heckler_rider's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
As far as I can see, the little box with 'clear' terrain is there to show you what terrain the unit is on or in, not necessarily what the weather conditions are. -
Playing CMBO is glorifying war?
Lordfluffers replied to vskalex's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
War games usually attempt to recreate war rather than glorify it. IF a war game does it job well, it should goive a player some idea about how terrible and cruel war was. CMBO does this very well IMO. Watching the way troops have been blown away or watching the sheer destructiveness of artillery, armor pushes home what a terrible thing war is. Also I believe that learning and understanding the past helps us learn about how to stop similiar situations happening again. I love war games but I hope I never have to become embroiled in war in my life. Some games arguably glorify war or killing such as Soldier of Fortune, however all this is supposed to be light hearted entertainment. I doubt any pc gamer really would consider war fun or enjoy these situations in real life!!! -

quote:
Originally posted by dalem: The Sovs didn't do it by themselves any more than the Americans did or the British did. Team effort. -dale

They did it a lot more by themselves though and they probably would have done it all by themselves albeit a lot slower and at a greater cost. The Americans and the Brits would not have been, and were completely unable to make such a huge contribution!! (in my humble opinion anyway!! ) A team effort with 85% of the effort going to the Soviets. Britain and America 7.5% each.

Allied Tank Gun Development.
Lordfluffers replied to Enoch's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
The 76mm is a completely different gun to the 75mm. It is not simply a longer barrelled version like the German 75mm gun on the MarkIV that replaced the shorter one. Thats why it is called a 76mm gun!!! It is more probable I think, that the 76mm which was already being developed for the Sherman was considered a much better upgunning proposal than the costs of producing, designing and fitting a lengthened 75mm gun. Im sure some grog will confirm or deny this was the case later. P.S. the Germans preferred to keep the 75mm calibre because most of their AT and field artillery were also 75mm. ALso when they discovered how obsolete their MkIII 50mm's and MkIV short 75mm's were against T34's and KV's they needed a speedy solution i.e. the long barrelled 75mm. -
Yep you're right, the turret ring was far too small, all British tanks up till 1943/4 were designed to fit onto standard gauge British railways making them not wide enough to fit the 17 pounder. This why the Sherman Firefly was the only British tank to fit the gun. Ironically it was a US design could fit the British gun. The Black Prince was a widened Cromwell rather than a Churchill if I recall correctly though!

M26 Pershing Winter Mod
Lordfluffers replied to AbramsGunner's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Right now I've got only a foot of snow outside where I live, but that's because there's been very little snow this winter and March has been very warm... Thats all very well Olle, but not very relevent if you don't live in France or Germany. you dont get a lot of snow in Febuary or March and definitely very little by April in France and Germany!
