Desert Foxes Desert Rats total mod of the game to represent the late era of the war in North Africa.

I dearly love my wife. She takes fantastic care of me and our daughter. But I wonder if you can love two women. After all, how can you not love a beautiful woman who plays CM (well), plays flight sims (well), and has created the single most impressive mod in the huge CM universe of mods.
Kitty, you are a unique treasure.

Very interesting and informative AAR, Jason. I have not played this scenario, but do not envision playing it anytime soon, so I doubt that any of the information will still be sharply in focus when I do, lol.

We all appreciate it very much. Please feel free to apply your magic to every vehicle in the game. Take your time, just be finished by the end of February.

The deathly fear of having missed something (like 1.13) when you go a full day without checking this forum.
Also, repainting many of your hundreds of 1:285 AFV's to match your current mods.

Looks like JAZZA and I are the only Pzkw III lovers. Both the L/42 50mm and the L/60 50mm versions. A truly beautiful and functional little tank. I'll finally have a German tank with a fast turret, lol.

Gotta be the Hotchkiss H-39 light tank. It was a piece of crap in 1940, much less 1944.

Expect 12-18 months from now. They have a much longer time period to finish researching and many more units to code and test. Everyone needs to stop thinking about CM2 and enjoy CMBO, because it will be quite some time to deliver the high quality game BTS is famous for.

I don't know how often US/NATO opponents would be able to field the technology, but the J-8 JSTARS was the single most important asset in the destruction of Iraqi ground forces as it painted a radar picture of all the vehicles on the ground and their movement. This enabled target taskers to put aircraft on the targets and helped the ground assault to know the main areas of resistance. So to answer your question, radar is very important in modern ground combat.

Saw your post on the Star Fleet Forums. Too bad Taldren and Interplay weren't able to do SFCII up to BTS' level for CM. I really hope that 2.0.0.5 does some good. I also hope Dyna II works someday.
And I agree about the death of companies. I fear, in the future, that the only games available will be 1st person shooters and crap of the "Sonic the Hedgehog" ilk.

Nothing truly important is ever settled in this world until one man is ready and willing to kill another over it.

Matt has posted them at http://combathq.thegamers.net/
Thats the best place to get all your mods, even though it sometimes takes a while.

Help the time challenged amongst us with a little navigation help on where in the site the good stuff is. Thanks in advance!

I loved Paydirt. I got the team charts every year that Avalon Hill published the previous year's. Was sick when they finally quit. I had a big spreadsheet by situation that allowed surprisingly good solo play. I played o and d for "my" team, etc. Was nice because you could actually have a 13-10 game, unlike Madden and the PC games out now, where the scores are rarely realistic.

Maybe it happened like this:
Sherman comes around corner. TC yells "Target, tank!", gunner has a problem getting breech closed, driver is sitting there looking at Tiger (doesn't matter which end), wetting his pants, when gunner doesn't fire real quick, driver says to hell with this and reverses, gunner finally gets round off late.
You had bad luck. Often happens in the loud, scary business of war.

Even Mark IV's work if you have several. Gotta break some eggs to make an omelet!

John,
I saw you mention doing MW:V skins a while back. I was wondering if you had done any yet, and, if so, where I might find them. As much as I like CM, I do occasionally play 2 or 3 other games.
TIA,
David

Have you tried using the hotkeys to expand your horizon range? Chances are you have it set to something less than the maximum. That keeps you from seeing the entire map in a large scenario.
-
I know there have been some posts about people concerned that their tank would pivot to fire on something worthless, like a crew, and expose its flank to the area where the player knows, but the tank only suspects, but I think it works great. You always have to remember that the TC doesn't know everything you know. He can only deal with what he spots, and he won't even spot everything. Even unbuttoned, its damn hard to tell what's going on around you.
Anyway, on to the amusing anecdote. I have seen several instances of this lately, but this really brought it home. I had a Panther that was given a hunt order up to a small ridgeline. He had killed a Firefly from further down the same ridgeline and had spotted a Churchill to the south of the Firefly. I displaced and sent him hunting up the ridge. The Churchill turned up somewhat farther south than he had been before as the Panther hit the crest. Churchill was about 40 degrees to Panther's left. Panther pivoted just a bit while the turret rotated, maybe 5-10 degrees to help the gunner get his line laid on. First shot misses (range about 640m). While reloading, the driver pivots the hull around to face the Churchill. Return shots deflects off glacis (Whew! nice job driver). 2nd shot toasts Churchill. Had to watch the movie about 5 times just for the satisfaction of it.

They're my favorite recon vehicle. Better to expose AT guns and nasty things with HT's than get something/someone more useful wasted.

As Rommel22 said, its from Tank Versus Tank, but more specifically it is a representation of the battle for Singling. The scenario for CM is called Singling Shootout.
