  1. Hi folkes, I guess it's a good idea to post this here, since most WargamerScout members belong to this forum, too! I have made two important changes on the www.wargamerscout.net site! Firstly, if you have posted a challenge, you will now be notified by email if somebody picks it up. This feature can be switch on an of on the 'Edit your details' page. Secondly, if you go to the 'Edit your details' page, you can now also preset if you want to be notified by email if somebody else has posted a new challenge for your prefered game!
  2. Indeed are smoke and flames handeled separatly by the gameengine, that's nothing a modder can change. IMO, even the flames are placed randomly on the tank, what doesn't makes much sense. The whole (visual) damage model is nearly non existent, but IIRC Steve mentioned that they are working on this or have it at least somewhere on the to-do list. I really hope so. I understand that Charles as the only programer can do only a limited number of things at one time, but even a comparebly mediocer game like TOW makes this better. Maybe a helping hand (no, not me ) would be a good idea. Of course I have no idea of producing and selling software, but I assume the basic wisdom 'if you want to make money, you have to invest money first' applies here, too. After all, we are talking about the flagship-gameseries of Battlefront, don't we?
  3. Indeed I think it would be to much Hollywood-like if the fireball lasts longer. There's no argue for taste, is it? While I'm generally satisfied with my mod, I don't like how it looks when a vehicel explodes, since the fireball-graphics are blown up by the program so much that they get blury. This happens, by the way, also to they original graphics. That's just an game-engine problem, I think. Firstly I wonder if this instand nuke ain't a little bit overdone anyway. Secondly, the graphical display of tank damage is very limited/non-existend at all. Giant explosion, but not even a scratch on the tank, just a couple of randomly placed flames. Even TOW makes it better.
  4. Thank you! What the hell means 'smors'???
  5. I have created a second version a more 'yellow version' of the flames, since the first version looked a bit to red to me and others. However, I packed both versions in one zip and uploaded them to www.cmmods.com
  6. Another question: when I replace the BMP for a ground texture like cliffs, it works pretty fine on close distance, but in some distance the texture is switched to an original texture of - as I guess - lower quality, but I can't find a low quality texture for the cliffs. Any ideas?
  7. Hi folks, here's my next one: Please find it as usual @ the CM Mods Database
  8. Hi have uploaded an updated version of the explosions! You can now find a mod for the smoke at cmmods, too. While not essetial as stand alone mod, I strongly recomment to use them with my explosions! Also added is a small mod for the tracers (the beams when a weapon is fired). I simply reduced the lightness of the original graphics by two thirds!
  9. Unfortunatly, my PhotoShop version doesn't save the Alpha-chanel in BMPs and also doesn't allow me to change the settings for this, while Gimp does.
  10. Well, finally I made it. Generally, the BMP format doesn't seem to be the state of the art format for textures today. I wonder why BTS stayed with it. Seems to me that transparency for example can be realized much easier and better with the also very common PNG format?
  11. Hi folks, I'm pleased to offer you my first CMSF mods, available @ the CM Mod Database. Explosions: and muzzle fire for big guns: Enjoy!
  12. Thanks for the help Marco! I haven't solve all problems yet, but this should get me on the right track. Another question - the explosion animation is build by 25 BMPs. Would CMSF use for example 30 BMPs if they would be there? I don't expect this seriously, but who knows...
  13. Okay, thanks. Seems I will finally have to learn to use Photoshop...
  14. I have tried to work a bit on the explosion-effects, but when I put them in the game, the explosion is surrounded by a black square. I'm using PaintShopPro 8. Since the bmp format doesn't seem to offer much options as for example multiple layers (at least in PSP8 I use), I'm obviously doing something wrong. Help would be fine!
  15. Frenchy, in some cases your email provider can use a 'grey list' antispam measure that asks in simple words for perfectly configured mail servers on both sides and/or uses a kind of 'black list/white list'. Unfortunatly there's not much that I could do in this case, I can only suggest to create an email account at a free email provider such as Gmail which is not known to cause any problems so far. Anyway, I have switched your account manually to 'confirmed', so you can now log in - but a working email-account is still a must! Of course, in some cases the email is simply lost...I guess I should add a simple check to proof if members can receive emails from the site *make a note on my to-do list*
  16. Yes, I've read this, but were in my LOS all the time anyway! My forces are already gathering for the final attack! Anyway, I also agree that Exit Zones must be put back into the game. 'Exit scenarios' without exit zones doesn't make to much sense, do they!?
  17. Has somebody already mentioned that vehicels frequently trying to dive into the ground and shake their tail in the air at the beginning of a PBEM turn? I can provide pics and files on demand.
  18. I vote for that, too. Move a tank at a street crossing in a town, give a 5 sec pause and a target command at waypoint and move back into cover before the enemy AT knows what has happend. On the other...like Steve always said: be carefull with the things you ask for, they will be used against you, too. (or something like that)
  19. Why differ between 'friendly' and 'enemy' wrecks at all in terms of the LOS/LOF calculation? They are just a pile of metal. As Cpl Steiner said, the only significant question is the distance between shooter and target, in both directions.
  20. Yes, it doesn't work cause you left the www out the url! Try tracert www.wargamerscout.net works pretty fine! : [ June 08, 2008, 12:35 PM: Message edited by: Scipio ]
  21. Slug, I have to excuse for the delay, this was a children desease; that's also why there was no message added from Sivodsi. I found and solved the problem! Folks, I'm very pleased that you like my site!
  22. Abbott, if you shouldn't have received the confirmation email yet, than it's likely that you have entered a wrong email address or more likely the email has been caught somewhere by an antispam measure. You should check the spam folder on your PC or at your email provider, if this ain't help let me know!
  23. A while ago I asked on the CMSF forum for a good place to find PBEM opponents, but unfortunatly my question was left unanswered. So I thought it's time to create such a place, and here it is: WargamerScout! WargamerScout is an (as I hope) easy to use online database, where wargamers can post or take up challenges. For those of you who don't like ladders and leagues: WargamerScout is NOT a ladder. And for those of you who love playing exclusivly on a ladder: I really don't see a problem, just mention it when you post your challenge. WargamerScout is not an exclusiv CMSF database, indeed it can (in theory) support all wargames that allow H2H-matches. For now, all CM titles and the old Campaign Series games are supported. The site has also a basic forum for general issues and as a place to meet (thanks for the idea, David ). Beside that, there are no bells and whistles so far, but I really want to get this thing started now  . I hope you find this site usefull. Let the games begin!
