  1. The webmaster was quite clear and articulate in the reason for closeing the thread. Why start an argument? ------------------ Pair-O-Dice "Once a Diceman, Always a Diceman." 2. Think CM could model the weapon used to shoot at that "30 point buck"? Who did that song anyway? They play it every deer season up there. ------------------ Pair-O-Dice "Once a Diceman, Always a Diceman."
  3. You get a priceless game concept made reality by thousands of dollars worth of meticulous research, talented programing, and great art work. Your share of the start up cost plus reasonable intrepenual reward $45 U.S. Cheers ------------------ Pair-O-Dice "Once a Diceman, Always a Diceman."
  4. I think the current debates are very healthy. You'd be amazed at how much customer input went into this game. To list a few improvements motivated by customer input: much improved smoke graphics, the artillary and mortor modeling, improved armor modeling of the Tiger turret, much improved target disciplin of tanks, and the expansion of points for quick battles. There are probably many more that I can't think of right now. CM is the kind of game that would cause me to go out and buy a computer if I didn't already have one, but it still has room for improvement. ------------------ Pair-O-Dice "Once a Diceman, Always a Diceman."
  5. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by aka_tom_w: Allies.... There is NOTHING more satisifying than taking down one of these Really big (supposedly industructable) German tanks by running a Sherman or Hellcat around beside it or behind it and pumping a heat seeking, armour pierceing, moisture missle enema inducing, 76mm, round right up its ass! <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Ah yes, nothing like a lead enema to clean out the sinuses. ------------------ Pair-O-Dice "Once a Diceman, Always a Diceman."
  6. The only death my bazooka boys ever know about is their own. ------------------ Pair-O-Dice "Once a Diceman, Always a Diceman."
  7. Catastrophic hits are somewhat modeled. It does create a bigger boom, but alas, no flying turrets yet. I would also like to know if this is on the to-do list. ------------------ Pair-O-Dice "Once a Diceman, Always a Diceman."
  8. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by James Ling: Diceman-I've just done a quick test creating a battlefield of a ridge and placeing units below the crest, on it, on the exposed side and more inbetween. I got a reading of 75% exposure on all units except on those far down the reverse side which read out of los. Once the battle started the enemy of course abandoned the hill and got slaughtered moving towards the incoming fire to some scattered trees - whose exposure was 35%.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Son b****, your right! I get the same result. There I go again working without proper tools - thinkin' again. I never noticed this problem before. Percent exposure seemed to work just fine, but this is either a problem or a serious limitation. It does explain why reverse slopes don't serve me as well as I expected! ------------------ Pair-O-Dice "Once a Diceman, Always a Diceman."
  9. I would like to know why my gun was out of commision. If it's an optics problem then I should have at least some usability of the gun. I should be able to at least shoot at stationary targets, if at a slower rate (looking through the barrel as described above). If a shot hit the gun mantle so hard that it made the gun inop in some way then so be it, but I want to know. I think the only time the enemy should know there was gun damage is if the barrel itself is vissibly damaged. Just my two cents. ------------------ Pair-O-Dice "Once a Diceman, Always a Diceman."
  10. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by IntelWeenie: I had an off-line discussion with an old CM-er and this is what came out of it: Currently, CM does not take into account cover given by hill crests, it treats all open terrain the same. To do so would necessitate coding the amount of cover based on the direction and angle of incoming fire, which could get pretty complex. y. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> I beg to differ on this point. I do believe it is in fact allready coded in. The 3d battlefield does indeed have an effect on an infantry unit's ability to be hit. The amount of cover provided by the lay of the land including hill crests is represented by a % of exposure. Standing out in the middle of flat terrain or running exposed uphill from the dirrection of fire will have a far greater % of exposure than being behind a hill crest. Target lines point to the base of a unit. When a target line wraps around an osticle but you still can target it, rest assured that although the base is below the line of sight, at least part of the target vissible. This is similar to being "hull down" but is expressed as a percent exposed instead of "hull down status". Just my two cents. ------------------ Pair-O-Dice "Once a Diceman, Always a Diceman."
  11. I've gotten "Gun Destroyed" warnings before. I would guess that it's above and beyong just "gun damaged" ------------------ Pair-O-Dice "Once a Diceman, Always a Diceman."
  12. S*** happens. Not the same thing, but last week I saw a professional golfer miss a two foot put, and his pants were dry! ------------------ Pair-O-Dice "Once a Diceman, Always a Diceman."
  13. It's da bomb! The wheels match the color scheme of the superstrucure much better than before. ------------------ Pair-O-Dice "Once a Diceman, Always a Diceman."
  14. There are no more human apponents, they've all been assimilated by the CM Borg. To be serious, there are a few ladders out there. One URL was posted above. Madmatt and Fion's sight has a ladder in the annex: http://cmhq.tzo.com/scripts/cmls/players.pl Then there's the Rugged Defence Combat Mission at http://home.wanadoo.nl/edwin.vos/cm/cm.htm Hope this helps ------------------ Pair-O-Dice "Once a Diceman, Always a Diceman."
  15. I like it! You do great work. P.S. Is it my imagination or are the road wheels on your two Panther models switched around? ------------------ Pair-O-Dice "Once a Diceman, Always a Diceman." [This message has been edited by Diceman (edited 09-09-2000).]
  16. Now that's a catastrophic explosion! I'd LOVE to see CM do that! ------------------ Pair-O-Dice "Once a Diceman, Always a Diceman."
  17. I love the fact people are making mods to the game, however; I'm very glad that the only mods allowed are cosmetic in nature, only effect your own PC, and therefore do not effect play with other people. ------------------ Pair-O-Dice "Once a Diceman, Always a Diceman."
  18. Aftermany months of trying to think of a handle which appropriately describes me, reflects my love of the military, reflects my game play, and yet is in no wise pretentios I've finally come up with a handle. I will no longer post on this board as simply EScurlock. Hence forth I will be the "Diceman". I take this name from the 90th Fighter Squadron. The most elite military organization I've had the pleasure of being a team member of. It's motto will be my signature. Cheers Eric ------------------ Pair-O-Dice "Once a Diceman, Always a Diceman."
  19. Not a bug. Deliberatly part of the game design. The good news is that this allows you to withdraw, thereby saving cassualties. The bad news (if you can call it that) is that map edge hugging units may inadvertanly leave the game. ------------------ Pair-O-Dice "Once a Diceman, Always a Diceman."
