  1. I will continue to support the further development of what CMBO started.
  2. Current usage encourages capitalization of the first letter in the word "Soldier".
  3. I pre-ordered both box and download versions of the game a few days before download was available, and, I'm still waiting for my boxed game and printed manual.
  4. Are the infantry units maneuvered by squad, section or by individual infantryman?
  5. I'll stick to the Nvidia chipsets, Schrull! Thanks for the tip.
  6. I'm considering a new graphics card that's on sale. It's made by Radeon. Do these kinds of cards have trouble with CMBO and CMAK Smoke, Fog and Dust effects? I seem to remember something about this.
  7. Thanks. Anybody else? [ May 13, 2006, 09:37 AM: Message edited by: Craig Champagne ]
  8. I have this graphics card, and I want to use the latest drivers that do not adversely affect CMAK or CMBB in any way. What driver should I download and install? Thanks.
  9. This is a great issue for debate. I've been thinking about this quite a bit. One of the things I'd like to see more of is balanced scenarios that require an attacker to exit points off of the opposite board edge, rather than scenarios that focus on fighting for Victory Flags. Most of the great balanced scenarios seem to be Meeting Engagements in which the two sides fight for a few Victory Flags. It must be very difficult to design a scenario using the format that I suggest above. I really admire you folks who have developed a talent in designing medium to large scenarios that are balanced, because I could never do this with great skill unless I devoted most of my leisure life doing this.
  10. Rune has designed a very tough scenario for the Romanians attacking the Stalin Line in 1941. The Soviet AI is good enough to defend the positions and keep my Romanians from winning. Anybody have any suggestions for winning this scenario against the Soviet AI?
  11. We've got to get The Scenario Depot back at any cost. I'd be willing to send a check for $10.00 to the folks who succeed in resurrecting TSD.
  12. I'm very pleased to announce that the drivers recommended by Redwolf and the method for installing them recommended by Schrullenhaft both work very well with CMBB and CMAK. I'm very pleased with the results.
  13. Schrullenhaft, Our Old Friend and Mentor. This community of wargamers owes you a tremendous debt of gratitude. I salute you, Sir. Thank you.
  14. Thanks, Redwolf. I suppose that I should uninstall the current driver before installing the new driver, correct? If so, what is the best method to use to uninstall the current driver? I only ask because it has been about two years since I last did this.
  15. Redwolf: do these drivers that you recommend work well with CM? Thanks.
  16. Thanks, Larry. Maybe somebody who has a NVIDIA GE Force FX 5200 can tell me what the best drivers are for CMAK and CMBB. Thanks.
  17. I've upgraded my video card from 64 to 128. My problem is that CMAK shows all white print as cyan . . . a light blue. Other white color print shows up as darker blue. Any suggestion as to how I might fix this? Thanks.
  18. Christmas, 1973. Richard Nixon was in the White House. Alice Cooper's "Muscle of Love" album blared across the FM airwaves all across America. The New Orleans Saints just finished their 7th season. It was a losing season like the others before it and many others after. The Arabs and Isrealis rested after the Yom Kippur War in October, 1973. The last U.S. military drawdown continued at a frantic pace while the draft was on its last legs and soon to be history. And . . . I received Gettysburg by Avalon Hill for Christmas. Next Christmas, it was Third Reich. I started computer gaming in 1995 with the legendary Panzer General by SSI. Steel Panthers soon followed. You know how the story goes from here: CMBO is the best. You know something, though? I still like board wargames like Russian Campaign, Russian Front and Anzio.
  19. Thanks ACTOR! I have CMBO loaded and running on my computer just fine! I feel sorry for the folks who have anything under a 500 mhz speed CPU, because CMBO seems to be a resource hog! Runs fine on my machine! Looks utterly fantastic on my Nvidia GE Force 2 GTS. ------------------ Craig C.
  20. I need a good explanation on how to get my AFVs in good hull down positions. I wish that there were a command available to get the AFV commander or driver to do this. After all, it seems like they should do this on their own, doesn't it? ------------------ Craig C.
  21. Got the Demo! I'm very impressed with the game, and I will buy it tomorrow. If the Demo runs, I assume that the game will also run? ------------------ Craig C.
  22. Thanks for the prompt reply. I tried to download the demo, but I keep getting disconnected. I'll try again. What software would you recommend that allows a download to continue at the same point after inadvertent disconnection? ------------------ Craig C.
  23. Combat Mission intrigues me greatly, but before I buy it, I'd like to know whether folks who have a system similar to mine have had any problems running the game. I have a new Gateway with Athlon 800 CPU. Win 98 SE Soundblaster Live Value sound card 64 MB Nvidia GE Force2 GTS Graphics Accelerator Thanks very much for your input. ------------------ Craig C.
