Red=Dead/Almost Dead/Soon to be Dead ...same end result. *grin* But the point of the thread is that the infantry is now personal enough you care that they're dying, whereas in CMx1 they were just numbers and/or cannon fodder that you were extremely happy with if they took out a single tank in a HUGE scenario.

After you're through inputing movement commands, select the final waypoint on-screen, THEN give the facing command. Works great for pauses enroute as well by selecting mid-course waypoints and THEN giving the pause command! This is a feature that a whole lot of people could only dream of in the CMx1 days!
  3. I'm glad BFC has done it this way from the start. Granted, when CMBB was coming out, I was severely disappointed in the short-sighted exclusion of motorcycle riding horses, but in the long run I could see their point (once you have motorcycle riding horses, there's no point in EVER buying another game).

Nope, that's not what I'm saying. The sad thing is that you even quoted me and you got it wrong. :(

I still don't understand your point of view ( specifically the connection between non-gamers & non-RTS definers). But it really doesn't matter... I've got far too many letters to write to the next of kin of my dead pixellated troops. You folks can handle the debate on what a gamer is and is not. *grin*

I stand by this. The defining RTS games are so prevalent and well understood that anyone who - honestly, instead of by way of attack - suggests that CMSF is an RTS simply cannot be a gamer as that term is understood. They must be people who pick up the game because it covers a topic they like but who do not otherwise play video and computer games.</font>
  6. The cursor will not change when the mouse is hovered over any part of the APC, just specific "hot spots" (experimentation should help you on this... if you can't find it by trying pixel by pixel all over the APC, you probably do have valid problem).

You can select units by clicking on their hovering icon (if you've left them on).

  7. BFC DOES support appearance/sound modding. BFC does NOT support changes to stats. BFC is currently working on a list of files and directory structures for modding. As I understand it, modding will consist of just adding a subdirectory and plopping in correctly named files.

I think a little patience on this issue is warranted as BFC is dealing with uninformed people's expectations (guilty as charged here) and sorting out valid bugs from those.

(from what I'm reading, a whole lot of the expectation dissappointments were openly discussed during the development and users' inputs were sought and received, but many like myself didn't follow the development closely enough and expected a "CMx1 Plus" instead of a "CMx2" ...we got a CMx2. I'd guess that as time goes by, many of us will realize CMx2 is as good a system, if not better, than CMx1, but it is not CMx1.)

I've had a similar problem with pathfinding. When commanding a vehicle to move a short distance forward iv'e seen them on several occasions move way forward before moving back to where I first commanded them to move too. This often leads to their demise as they move into enemy zones.

What speed did you tell them to move at? The manual states that the higher the speed, the greater the chance of overrunning the waypoint.
