I gave a javelin to a 2 man HQ unit and sent them to a 2nd story room to stay out of the way and hide. One of them fired the javelin from his rifle and killed a rather pesky T-72!!!

Red=Dead/Almost Dead/Soon to be Dead ...same end result. *grin* But the point of the thread is that the infantry is now personal enough you care that they're dying, whereas in CMx1 they were just numbers and/or cannon fodder that you were extremely happy with if they took out a single tank in a HUGE scenario.Originally posted by rudel.dietrich:That is not accurate as far as I can tell
Yellow circles are lightly wounded who can still move (slowly) and function
Red circles mean either dead or badly wounded

After you're through inputing movement commands, select the final waypoint on-screen, THEN give the facing command. Works great for pauses enroute as well by selecting mid-course waypoints and THEN giving the pause command! This is a feature that a whole lot of people could only dream of in the CMx1 days!Originally posted by Darkmath:Is there any way to rotate the vehicle once he went to its waypoint?

Many of us still do.Originally posted by Normal Dude:With that line of reasoning we'd still be playing boardgames.

I wanted to be prepared, as I often have problems seeing the readme.txt from the "library." *grin*

I'm glad BFC has done it this way from the start. Granted, when CMBB was coming out, I was severely disappointed in the short-sighted exclusion of motorcycle riding horses, but in the long run I could see their point (once you have motorcycle riding horses, there's no point in EVER buying another game).

I had similar once... except all the US squads were laying down in that pose... looked liked the scene after the end of The Life of Brian, where they all looked at the bright side of life so hard they fell over.

If they were my peers, they WOULD be retards and would KNOW an M1A2 IS worth only two T-62's!Originally posted by Michael Dorosh:I am just thinking of your feelings when all your peers tell you what a retard you are for daring to suggest an M1A2 Abrams is worth only two T-62s

Assuming the PDF manual has the lastest/bestest info, what does it supercede in the hardcopy manual we should be receiving soon? Is there anything in the hardcopy that should now be completely ignored due to last minute upgrades and/or printing errors?

Oooh! Guilty as charged your honor!Originally posted by thewood:I used QB as the filler in between and to experiment. I really think that the majority of people playing CM did the same thing.

I still don't understand your point of view ( specifically the connection between non-gamers & non-RTS definers). But it really doesn't matter... I've got far too many letters to write to the next of kin of my dead pixellated troops. You folks can handle the debate on what a gamer is and is not. *grin*Originally posted by Becket:Nope, that's not what I'm saying. The sad thing is that you even quoted me and you got it wrong.

YOU OWE ME A KEYBOARD NOW!!! ROFL!Originally posted by thewood:This whole AI planning thing scares me. Kinda like clowns, I know they're good, but they still scare me. Especially French clowns.

You've just described my experience with SSG's Battlefront System in the 1980's. You're right as far as my money went, but someone was playing it enough they cranked them out for awhile.Originally posted by Michael Dorosh:No one would play it.

I stand by this. The defining RTS games are so prevalent and well understood that anyone who - honestly, instead of by way of attack - suggests that CMSF is an RTS simply cannot be a gamer as that term is understood. They must be people who pick up the game because it covers a topic they like but who do not otherwise play video and computer games.</font>Originally posted by Becket:For reference, here is the quote:

The cursor will not change when the mouse is hovered over any part of the APC, just specific "hot spots" (experimentation should help you on this... if you can't find it by trying pixel by pixel all over the APC, you probably do have valid problem).
You can select units by clicking on their hovering icon (if you've left them on).

Facing is added to the end of a chain of commands by selecting the final waypoint on screen, THEN issuing the facing command.
Note: this doesn't work for the first "turn" and I think that's because the first "turn" is actually a "setup plus" phase.

BFC DOES support appearance/sound modding. BFC does NOT support changes to stats. BFC is currently working on a list of files and directory structures for modding. As I understand it, modding will consist of just adding a subdirectory and plopping in correctly named files.
I think a little patience on this issue is warranted as BFC is dealing with uninformed people's expectations (guilty as charged here) and sorting out valid bugs from those.
(from what I'm reading, a whole lot of the expectation dissappointments were openly discussed during the development and users' inputs were sought and received, but many like myself didn't follow the development closely enough and expected a "CMx1 Plus" instead of a "CMx2" ...we got a CMx2. I'd guess that as time goes by, many of us will realize CMx2 is as good a system, if not better, than CMx1, but it is not CMx1.)

Why don't you change it then? (See the manual)And while I'm at it, I'll infest another thread with my rant about how the K-hotkey in one tab orders a Hunt command, yet in another it makes your crews BAIL OUT... [/QB] -
...remember when they were just a number? Now they're a big red sore spot that cries "You have to write letters tonight!"
(technically, they'd probably have to be emails, as the next of kin are probably pixels too).

Matt, thanks for the answer... which I can't try yet (my whole question is temporarily moot due to a hardware problem on my gaming machine. *sigh*)

What speed did you tell them to move at? The manual states that the higher the speed, the greater the chance of overrunning the waypoint.Originally posted by Spindry69:I've had a similar problem with pathfinding. When commanding a vehicle to move a short distance forward iv'e seen them on several occasions move way forward before moving back to where I first commanded them to move too. This often leads to their demise as they move into enemy zones.

I object to the derision of idiots. What is wrong with looking like us!?

Alternating between 3 & 4 while noting obvious post-patch potential for at least a 2 (if not a 1).
