  1. If maximum LOS is 60m and distance to target is 58m, the tank commander and or gunner are shooting at the shadows they think most likely to be the source of gun flashes. Moreover, given the visibility the tank commander and gunner can _believe_ they hit but did not penetrate even when they miss actually - so no re-aiming.
  2. Does anyone know if this (how frontlines exactly work in operations) is covered in the strategy book?
  3. Thanks Rune, might ask that one as Christmas present. I will do some reading during holidays - it might be interesting to do a scenario-based mini-campaign of the operation. Br, Jukka-Pekka
  4. Very interesting - I would be interested in specific references to info mentioned by other posters. And of course in the scenario as well! As it happens my late grandfather participated in the operation in II/JR54 (Sovajärvi-Tuutijärvi 1.7.1941, Nenäpalo 7.7.-17.8., Isonselänlaki 19.-22.8., Tuorevaara 28.8., Nuottavaara 29.-31.8., Keski-Vilmajoki 19.-24.9., and Ala-Vilmajoki 8.10.1941-8.1.1942). Br, Jukka-Pekka
  5. I could browse through some reference works when visiting relatives during Xmas, if the questions are still relevant at that point of time. Please send me email about units of interest, that would help. Br, Jukka-Pekka
  6. I would second Offwhite's suggestion. In addition, I would specifically like to keep the "replayability" as one subcriteria, as that is something I seek and value in _some_ scenarios.
  7. Are there different language versions? I.e. does German CDV require different patch than English CDV version?
  8. There are games for which "accessory" is an action figure. And then there is CM
  9. Well, you surely woulnd't expect Swedish kings to fight and win with Swedish troops?
  10. I have also seen similar behavior in the same scenario. Several unsuppressed squads next to last MG bunker throwing grenades at _very_ slow rate. The bunker survived till end of game (2 minutes, IIRC).
  11. On the box of the game is a label "sisältää 266-sivuisen suomenkielisen ohjeen" which means "contains a 266-page Finnish guide/manual". Well, the cd does contain that, but it can be easily misinterpreted as physical manual.
  12. Dose in Helsinki still has a couple of copies left. And price of EUR 42,50 is almost half stealing
  13. I am afraid real life won't let me participate as actively as I should. So see you in RoW III! JPS
  14. I vote for random. Also, unbalanced scenarios would be great. Note, however, that the number of unbalanced scenarios should _not_ be known by players before/during the tournament, as that would give players that (by luck) start/play the unbalanced one(s) early on in the tournament unfair advantage. Edit: Nabla beat me. [ April 24, 2002, 02:17 PM: Message edited by: JPS ]
  15. Ah, an opportunity to meet some gentlemen again? My RL honeymoon trip is likely to intervene, but tentative yes in any case. JPS
  16. Congrats to finalists! Hope to meet you again in RoW II. The_Capt: next time I won't be so bloody stupid with my medium arty when I really really need more smoke... Greg: I am sure we will find another town to ruin! Flaming asphalt and all. Br, JPS
