1. Was this posted before? Dunno but I like it. Beware of the l33t Panzerschreck rodents! http://www.dailyradar.com/peepshow/2001-02-02.html ------------------ Rührt euch! CMPFCICM2 - Combat Mission Players for Campaigns in Combat Mission 2 - Join us! ;D
 2. They did? Wow! Great! BTS, I wanna campaign! Pretty please with sugar on top! ------------------ Rührt euch! CMPFCICM2 - Combat Mission Players for Campaigns in Combat Mission 2 - Join us! ;D
 3. I wonder if those plastic tanks lead to the development of new ammo if they become common in the world's armies. ------------------ Rührt euch! CMPFCICM2 - Combat Mission Players for Campaigns in Combat Mission 2 - Join us! ;D
 4. That certainly is the best definition of the term pacifism that I've ever read.
 5. Whyle reading buddy's thread "Any of you CM fans ex/current military?" I was wondering how many of you CM addicts think of yourselfs as pacifists and like tanks and guns only in bits and bytes? Although I'm totally into WW2 weaponry (especially German "Wunderwaffen"), war games and combat sims I consider myself being a pacifist. When it was time for me to serve in the German army I chose civil service instead. I just can't stand orders... ------------------ Rührt euch! 6. Combat Mission 2 - "Why can't we be friends?" "Stalinorgel Symphony" "Who's scorched now, eh?" "The Hunt for Red Square" "Russian Soldiers don't need Weapons" "Who said 'This enemy won't rise again'?" "Winter Holidays" "But *we* were supposed to win!" "Beyond... 7.
quote:
Originally posted by Tom: Sigh...I wish there would be something similar to record movies with a PC...... without expensive add on hardware. Regards Tom

Actually, there is something similar. First get HyperSnap from www.hyperionics.com. Enable the Quick Save function in the menu and check the box that reads "repeat capture every X seconds". Set the value to 1 or a lower value. Remember the key to disable the auto-capture function! Start up the game. Hit the hotkey for the screen shot (that's scroll lock by default for a DirectX screen shot). When the sequence is finished disable auto-capture. There should be plenty of screenshots in the HyperSnap directory now. You can make a movie of them by using AnimationShop (comes with PaintShop from www.jasc.com) for example. Just load every single frame and save the in AVI format. The more frames you've captured the smoother the animation will run in the end. There are only three problems. 1. You will need a *really* fast machine for this, especially a very fast hard disk. Every time a frame is captured, the program writes up to 1 meg of data to your hdd. I recommend using JPEG format with a moderate compression factor to reduce file size. 2. There is no way to record the sound with HyperSnap. There are other programs to do this but it is to my knowledge impossible to include sound in avi animations made with AnimationShop. 3. The AVI files that AnimationShop creates are *huge*. Nonetheless it is possible to create short flicks with the method described above. ------------------ Rührt euch! 9. I just stumbled upon a website that claimed the AK-47 was basically an updated MP-44. Is that true? If yes, what was modified to make the MP-44 become the AK-47? ------------------ Rührt euch! CMPFCICM2 - Combat Mission Players for Campaigns in Combat Mission 2 - Join us! ;D
 10. It looks very promising, can't wait to get my hands on it! Where did you find the camo schemes for the US tanks? ------------------ Rührt euch! CMPFCICM2 - Combat Mission Players for Campaigns in Combat Mission 2 - Join us! ;D
 11. Hetzer, Hetzer, Hetzer! It's mean, powerful and cheap. I love its name, i love its look, i love driving my opponen crazy with ricochets... The only German TD that's more beautiful than the Hetzer is the Jagdpanther, the most elegant TD ever made. ------------------ Rührt euch! 13. I know there have been many ideas for new terrain tiles and objects in CM 2 but there wasn't a dedicated thread AFAIK. So, what do you think should be modeled in CM 2 when it comes to battlefields? Here's my wishlist in no particular order:

trenches
shelters for AT guns
shelters for infantery platoons
special buildings (some of them should be bigger than one tile) - factories (with storage halls, tanks etc.) - hangars - chapels (smaller churches than the current ones) - farm buildings
very special buildings like bakeries, hospitals, cinemas...
frozen terrain/water
sandbag barriers
ponton bridges
dirt tracks (muddy, seldomly used paths, for example for farming machines or in woods)
fences
something in between those small villange houses and huge town houses
more shapes for houses (not only squares)
anti tank barriers (dragon teeth?)
brooks
haystacks (don't know how often tank commanders mentioned they hid their vehicles behind haystacks )
larger crop than the current one (the type of crop one can't see through/over) Plus all those nice things that were mentioned in "Photography Mission" and "Little Gems...". Would be great if you could be able to combine tiles, for example place a trench plus a sandbag barrier in shattered trees. More to follow... ------------------ Rührt euch! 14.
quote:
Originally posted by WolfLord: After numerous scenarios, I was extremely surprised by its effective performance. By this time, I felt myself confident enough to employ it in a TCP/IP game.

I wouldn't use Jagdtigers against human opponents. If you're not closely guarding that monster with other tanks or AT guns it's easy prey for some fast Shermans or Wolverines. Just rush a couple of them towards the sides of that "Hunting Tiger" and it's history pretty soon. The problem is that its turning and firing speed is too slow to stop any fast flanking maneuver. Plus, the gun of the Jagdtiger is pretty vulnerable. ------------------ Rührt euch! CMPFCICM2 - Combat Mission Players for Campaigns in Combat Mission 2 - Join us! ;D
 15.
quote:
Originally posted by Otto Normalspieler: Also ich hatte nun wirklich kein Problem damit... http://www.nahverteidigungswaffe.de

ROFL, sorry. The problem is that even if I reviewed CM in PC Games the review would be written for casual gamers (the majority of our readers) thus resulting in an only mediocre rating, which CM simply doesn't deserve. You can read my old review of CM at PowerPlay.de (http://www.powerplay.de/html/kon1/tests/artikel.php3?artikel=3191), which is more of a "freak" magazine. ------------------ Rührt euch! 16. Huch, erkannt. 17. While playing around with the editor recently I wondered why BTS chose squares instead of hexagons to visualize the battlefields. Since most turn based strategy games rely on hexagons wouldn't it have been an obvious choice for CM, too? Would it make any difference? What do you think? ------------------ Rührt euch! 18. Well, if those battleships are unsinkable how come there are so many of them lying on the sea floor? If they managed to knock out better armored BB's than the Iowa with weaponry of the 40's do you really think that "With just one we could stream up and down [China's] coast, and destroy EVERYTHING in range" in the year 2001? Nah. ------------------ Rührt euch! CMPFCICM2 - Combat Mission Players for Campaigns in Combat Mission 2 - Join us! ;D [This message has been edited by Triggerhappy (edited 01-01-2001).]
 19. The FSAA bug is a known one since the demo days. AFAIK there is no fix for it yet. Though I don't know why your monitor is flickering that bad. With FSAA disabled CM runs just fine on my Voodoo. ------------------ Rührt euch! CMPFCICM2 - Combat Mission Players for Campaigns in Combat Mission 2 - Join us! ;D

 21. Hmmm, the video from http://www.suppressivefire.net/Flashpoint.mpg is the one I made with the beta a month ago. 22. David, groundpounder, thank you very much for your answers. The victory flags make the difference. The Germans now have a really hard time defending those bridges. ------------------ Rührt euch! CMPFCICM2 - Combat Mission Players for Campaigns in Combat Mission 2 - Join us! ;D
 23.
quote:
Originally posted by Germanboy: BTS have repeatedly stated that they feel campaigns are inherently unrealistic and have no place in CM.

Germanboy, BTS have stated a few days ago that they will do "important things first" and that a campaign due to being unrealistic wasn't important to them so it's highly unlikely that there will be one in CM2. Unlikely, but not impossible... I'm still clinging on to that straws... Hehe, just updated my signature. ------------------ Rührt euch! 24. Sorry, double posting. [This message has been edited by Triggerhappy (edited 12-15-2000).]
 25. Speaking of scenarios: I'm currently working of a fictional scenario in which the Axis player has to defend two bridges. Unfortunately it's too easy for the Germans to hold these bridges versus an AI player although the Allies have a force about three times as big as the Axis. The problem is that the AI player tends to move his forces one by one over the bridges thus being an easy target for the defending infantry and AT guns. Any suggestions? I already tried a search in the Scenario Talk forum but couldn't find any helpful hints. ------------------ laid to rest alive waiting in a shallow grave mines have learned patience - Kurtz Rührt euch!
