COMBAT MISSIONS: Site Update / Mods
WineCape replied to Manx_CM's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Manx, thanks for your update. I must add that your site is now marked above those of Combat Mission HQ in my favourites folder of my browser! The site is much easier to read - a pleasure on the eye for sure. Keep it updated and well done. Any idea if Madmatt will employ you to redo their HQ's site? -
This the best add-on since... Tiger's mod last week! Good work KMAN, I will bump this file 'cause its make PBEm so much easier. Keep it up! regards Charl Theron

A plea for realistic explosion mods
WineCape replied to Sig's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Great work Scipio! Could the Aces of Mods (Tiger, Bergman et al.) heed our call for a second set of tank explosions? Keep this post bumped gentleman! We need those masters of modding to take this challenge up -
A plea for realistic explosion mods
WineCape replied to Sig's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
A challenge to all mod makers! This thread is an excellent idea. Top mod makers, please listen and come up with bullethead's or another set of explosins for AFV. Current ones are fine, but some variation is nice. I DO like the big BOOM of the 2 storey buildings collapsing. Brilliant. But bulletheads idea is exciting. Take up the challenge Tiger et al! Regards, Charl Theron -
Yes, I concur. Manx, your site is easy on the eye and a great informative read. The snippets on the pros/cons of the different AFV is superb. Keep up the good work. Regards, Charl Theron

Good Lord! When are the FINISHED. Excellent work Tiger. Keep it up. The name "Tiger" says it all gentleman. Regards, Charl Theron

Improvements already incorporated in CM2 BTS?
WineCape replied to WineCape's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Hello All, Still no answer. So I took the liberty to bump the post. Suppose BTS is very busy, but could anybody comment apart from Charles/Steve? Regards, Charl Theron -
Points Allocation in CM1.1 tabulated
WineCape replied to WineCape's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Hi goodwood, Slightly off topic, but I will forward you the Excel97 CM1.1 Points Allocation spreadsheet vs. different Battle types if you need it. Regards, Charl Theron -
Yes, but DO remeber that Dalwhinnie IS from the Scottish Highland region that produces (and are renowned) for NOT heavy-styled peaty Scotch. It's got a almost light honey taste, the "paet-fire" downplayed. Not overpowering at all. Likewise to a lesser extend the Oban Scotch. Regards, Charl Theron

CALL TO ARMS!! VOTE FOR COMBAT MISSION
WineCape replied to SS_PanzerLeader's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)

BTS: please come up with a unique title for CM2
WineCape replied to Grisha's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
CM2: DuringPinotage consumption!! Regards, Charl Theron -
If anybody is interested, I have CM v1.1 QB Points Allocation of the different battle types vs each of ME, Armor, Infantry and Mechanized tabulated in MSExcel97 format (zipped = 5KB). Very helpful for PBEM if you want to quickly scan each pool's allocation points for the Battle Type you have in mind for you opponent. If interested, e-mail me and I will oblige. Regards, Charl Theron BTW BTS, thanks for putting forward your reasoning for the point allocation change in CM1.1 - It is this support/response that will make CM2 even a bigger success. Keep up the excellent work. -- Charles and Steve, your Pinotage due to arrive in March.

I have taken 35 minutes to read this post, by GOD, interesting stuff! But this thread can be captured as follows: Can CM or/and CM2 tank hit probability % be increased after every round fired at the same target, that is can we better incorporate the method of bracketing as it currently stands in CM1.1? Is Charles planning to incorporate this in the very least with CM2? Thanks all you guys for this awesome thread! Charl Theron

My liquid gold of Choice: Dalwhinnie, Ardberg, Oban. But then, Pinotage, Shiraz, Cabernet and Merlot are all mighty fine during a meal with great company! Charl Theron Stellenbosch, South Africa

<BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR> I want accurate kill totals! This has aggravated me time and time again. I can understand not knowing the accurate totals during the battle. That only makes sense with the Fog of War settings set to "Full". However, after plastering the bejesus out of some woods with a 150mm arty spotter, seeing dead bodies in the woods as a result of that fire, and seeing partially identified three-figure units be reduced to two figures as a result of that arty fire, and to be told at the end of the battle that that arty spotter is credited with the destruction of one mortar is insulting! <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> I agree, and I feel very strongly that this must be rectified in an otherwise BRILLIANT GAME! Can this be rectified currently, or is it too much trouble coding it in CM, BTS? An answer will be much appreciated.

NE idea Charles/Steve how may CM units Sold?

<BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by I/O Error: Never... bothered... to... play... HEX-BASED GAMES!?!?!?!?! ARGH!! I still say Panzer General II was a load of fun... <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Don't get me started on games that can take up more precious work time! -
Now I suppose selling figures COULD be a "trade secret" that BTS and Charles/Steve would not bother to divulge. But what the heck, I for one will not even describe myself as a wargamer - never even bothered playing hex games - but this game is right up there as one of the best designed in any genre. Period. Given the limited (not if you read this BB!) customer base of wargaming in general, it would be interesting to know a ball park figure of the Internet selling only strategy of this game so far. I'm also trying to convince my varsity buddies to play, put I suppose it might be too *brainy* for them Any comments those in the know? Charl -- Murphy's law on arty -- Friendly fire it 'aint

I am embarrassed . Some time last year I ordered CM only to inform Charles that my copy did not pitch up here in South Africa, Stellenbosch. It went amiss after 5-6 weeks, presumed: "Lost". Charles duly re-send a copy via faster postage and it arrived to hours - NO WEEKS -- of fun. Don't know if to thank or send my wife's taped complaints to Charles and Steve! Low and behold! The first "lost" copy arrived just before Xmas, 2 months later! Apparently some postman thought South Africa was the island of Madagaskar. And I have paid $45 for 2 copies. Some will say "What a bargain - shut up." Well... almost. In appreciation for the Duo's honesty, intergrity, sheer hard work in coding an excellent game + just plain decentness, I will offer to send the wine equivalent of $45 in South African Pinotage - that is 6 bottles of good 'uns - to Charles. Good Pinotage is a scarcity in the USA, as most are exported to Europe and the rest kept here in SA. Not to worry, I have plenty. You have a customer for CM2 already! Kind regards and thanks for an entertaining BB. Charl Theron Stellenbosch Wine Export Centre, South Africa
