  1. Wasnt Hitler suffering from an advanced case of syphilis? I wonder if this could have caused the loss of a testicle. Gen
  2. Anywho away from AA capabilities or lack there of for this weapon. The 88 flak gun is actually pretty decent against most medium tanks on the allied side. It has a lower velocity which means it penetrates less armor than the Pak gun but if you are playing in a small QB where it is highly unlikely that the opposing player has anything like a Churchill, Sherman Jumbo, or Pershings the gun actually works like a charm since it can target really fast and it is only 85 points vs the 119 for the equivalent Pak gun. I have used this gun on a few occasions with mixed results. The thing can hide like a champ and if you can lure the armor target to within about 200 meters the 88 flak gun will penetrate alot of armor. It is also pretty decent for pounding soft targets. So you have to think "do I need the extra velocity of the 88 AT gun? or can the 88 flak just work fine" Gen
  3. Yeah, well anybody can get lucky but I certainly wouldn't go head to head with a Panther if I was in a Jumbo. At least not twice. " Actually our game had all sorts of fun. In the first couple of turns I took out a M38 with a 250/9. Then lost it and its sister to 1 .50 caliber gun. My then two panthers literally took 9 shots between them to hit another M38. By that time one of the panthers took a tung round in the chin. I placed an 88 flak gun perfect on the backside of a hill.. Except I forgot the 88 flak gun needs a closer distance to be effective than 500 meters. Whoops. Deflected a shot off a side faced Jumbo at 700 meters! Why cant they shoot at the hull when it sees it is Jumob?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? That went bye bye to a mortar crew a few turns later Ahh lessons learned. Gen
  4. the Panther for crying out loud - $195 against the Jumbo 76 of $211. Which would you bet on? " Well I can attest that tonight predators Jumbo won the match Maybe next time my Panthers can shoot straight! Gen
  5. Gen-x87, while it's certainly true that PawBroon came on a bit strong in his response to you, you might have noticed that he is French! As such it's likely that English isn't his first language and he might easily have misunderstood the gist of your question. He was also responding in kind to your "yawn" comment in the Peng thread." Even more reason J/K Oh I guess I was under the impression the Peng threads were some kind of a non-stop flame war that BTS allows cause it is amusing. I was just putting my two cents in. Apparently it has riled quite alot of feathers Isnt the that the point? If that thread is not about flames then Ill make sure I steer clear of it in the future. Gen
  6. Err, I know you are the kid who yawns and all that in Threads but maybe instead of sleeping during ThreadRoom you might want to consider that playing somebody who field the Axis could quite easily be done if you are the Red Army. And, wait, also the Allied in CM1. I love that game..." Your reading comprehension is worse than my yawning. I am asking for an Axis vs Axis fest. What the hell does playing the red army vs a german player have to do with anything? Note this sentence from me "Is there anyway that we can have the ability to pit Allied vs Allied or Axis vs Axis in a multiplayer setting or setting up scenarios? " I as a German player for those who can not figure it out would like to play a German player while I am also a German commander. On top of that your incoherent sentences are something a 3rd grader could mock. "As for a multiplayers slugfest and the ability to play against your own kind of materiel, the answer so far had been a clear NO." Well duh! In case you cant read the name of the thread (Highly likely) let me type it real slow for you. "Small request for CM2" Note the term request. Request means I am asking if this can be included in the nest release. It does not mean I am asking if it has. Sheesh! Gen
  7. Is there anyway that we can have the ability to pit Allied vs Allied or Axis vs Axis in a multiplayer setting or setting up scenarios? I understand we are trying to keep this historical but I would love to play somebody else when they are the Germans. Thanks, Gen
  8. It is really tough at first because of a few things. 1. Probably used to games like StarCraft when you just rush. 2. Terrain is really tough unless you actuallly get down to level 1 to literally see what it is. 3. Most people think tanks are almost invulnerable to anything but tanks. 4. Most people always believed that American tanks were the best. As you found out the Panther which is just a German Medium tanks slaughtered your Shermans. Use thier speed to your advantage! 5. Arty is a realy biatch! 6. When you just get good enough to play the computer and get a little bored you will move onto playing Humans. Humans with experience. You will learn real fast then What not to do! I have had the game since August but really didnt start playing it until the TCP\IP patch came out. Now for the las tmonth and a half I play the thing crazy style. I am learning something new everyday and well I actually had my first win last week hehe. And then another and another It is finally clicking for me on my strategy. Point being that it is a tough game for somebody looking for something easy to play around with, and something easy to dominate in. That will not happen. In the ladder I play in I think the #1 guy had a major loss to a relative newbie. His narrative was something along the lines of it should have been a total loss. Anybody can beat anybody on a given day in this game Good luck and keep your chin up. If you get serious about this game you will be getting much more frustrated by it in the coming months. Gen
  9. God I love the service in this place! Top notch game, top notch support Gen
  10. I have found at least on the German side that you should place 1 platoon in the forward area with good cover and a second cloe but not close enough for aty to hit it. The second platoon will provide some descent support fire. Bring a MG into each platoon. Then just sit and let them fight. Keep the rest of your troops back while your armor dukes it out. Most of the time people or the AI will shell the hell out of that first platoon which is fine. I usually have 2 companies so having a platoon or 1.5 platoons shewed up is not that bad. Once the arty is done move the rest of the troops up. By this time the armor battles should be done and you can go about doing your deed of waxing the enemy Gen
  11. cool beans. Been looking for this mod for awhile Gen
  12. Oh ya, one time I played a 2000 point game agains the computer somehow it 17 turns + of air atack on me! I lost 2 HTs, a Puma, 75 Pak, and a 150 inf gun. Oh did I mention it also shot up almost a whole damned company? Gen
  13. Today for fun I setup a QB ME 3000 points and I picked the units. I picked 8 panthers, 2 KTs, 4 Hetzers and 4 PZIVs. The allies had 4 Jumbos, 8 M10s, 8 Shermans, and about 8 other armor units I cant remember. I had to defend a village. I placed the PZIVs and Hetzers in town while I attempts to flank. After meeting up with about 3 tanks my first platoon(4 Panther Gs and a KT) smacked them down in 1 turn from a hill. I ended up losing 2 PZIVs engaging about 13 Allied Armor Units. One of my PZIVs was ina good position and took out a sherman and a Priest before going up in smoke. I then lost a hetzer and a hetzers gun. I then moved 1 platoon of Panthers and its KT to up the back side of the map and the other into and through the town. After losing my last PZIV and having onle 1 hetzer left between the town and the allied column my first platoon went through town and setup shop just behind a hill. My backside platoon engaged some minor units whacking them. Then moved in from behind. I rolled both platoons out on the same turn and the allies were kind of stuck in a valley. In the next 3 turns it was a tank battle from hell. I even brought my remaing hetzer in for a feast Shells deflecting left and right, they managed to knock out a Panthers turret but that was it. After 4 turns it was a burning mess for the allies. Then just to be mean I moved through and waxed the crews hehe. Anywho my point is, keep the KT at a distance with good support. Today the KTs had 4 Panthers for support Gen P.S. It seemed like the KTs turret swings faster than the panther but the tank is 10 MPH slower.
  14. I feel your pain. I had a King Tiger decide infantry was more of a threat than a Sherman. Even after 3 defelctions the thing still did not acknowledge the Sherman. On the 4th shot a sherman waxed a King Tiger LOL! The worst part about the whole thing is not less than aminute before they were exchanging shots at 900 meters. The sherman threw up a smoke screen and the KT just forgot about the sherman LOL! I now use the double panther attack. With infantry support to keep those pesky infantry from distracting the main objective of my assualt tanks "To kill enemy Armor!" Gen
  15. Depends on what you consider resupply. There were ammo runners at the sqaud level. So I think if the command unit is within a certain distance and the given unit is not under fire it should be able to be resupplied to allow it to at least fight to 45 turns. Gen
  16. I never really understood why you could not supply your units. I would think that a company commander unit should have a supply level. If a unit is running low on Ammo move them out of the fight and hit the resupply button. It will give you a time on when the resupply will be completed and then away that units goes resupplied. Anything over 30 mins usually causes your units to be out of ammo which makes it pretty pointless to keep fighting. Gen
  17. I dunno. I have a Hetzer that is 3d foliage placed on it. Cant imagine if one can do that why you could not add some kind of 3d to the ruinded buildings. I also feel that a flat sqaure showing a blowing up building kind of looks bad. Gen
  18. Funny you bring that up. Today in an IP game a cromwell came upto the flag in the last turn and it was penetrated from the side by a Faust. It just said side penetration but nothing else happened. Then a SS rifle squad and its platoon leader shot thier faust at once and blew the hell out of the cromwell Spectacular explosion. First time I have ever actually seen fausts in action! Gen
  19. I would hardly call the tiger one of the top 2 tanks. I would give the KT and Panther that role. Looking at the tiger I am actually trying to figure out what is the purpose of this tank. They name it a heavy tank but without sloped armor it can be penetrated quite easily from my experiences and it is slower than the Panther. Panther has become my favorite tank by far. 2000 point games with 2 panthers working in tandem and it is going to be hard for an allied player to beat up that combo without alot of help and luck Pershings can be killed by KTs from the front, which means probably tigers can kill them also. I would imagine the 88mm AT can also take one out. I am impressed by the speed of both the turret and ground speed of the pershings. Jesus they can move! If I was an allied player I would run circles literally around the german armor while firing Gen
  20. 2 nights ago while under the influence I decided to plop 50 Pershings up against 50 King Tigers on my test range. It took my system about 4 mins to compile the turn (Athlon 800 Thunderbird) and then away they went. It was like the cival war with tanks! The pershings got smoked in 2 turns. 47 vehicles knocked out, killing 9 KTs. So i decided to up the anty and put Super Pershings into the mix. 50 KTs vs 50 Super Pershings. They did better. Killing 21 KTs but losing 49 vehicles in 4 turns LOL! Gen
  21. Just drop some 81 mms on them. They will panic and run faster than the vikings did against the giants in the NFC champ game last year! Gen
  22. Has anyone even considered the basic American GI fighting across Europe? These guys were conscripted from all walks of life, who didnt want to be there, and just wanted to get the job done and go home. And they did it!" I did and somebody thought it was shortsighted. Sheesh Gen
  23. I am sick of hearing this idea – and from someone who holds it, this statement is not at all surprising:" Oh did I hit a nerve with you? I am not familiar with who you are. So your last comment doesnt seem to hold much water. Want to expand what you mean by "and from someone who holds it, this statement is not at all surprising" Have we met before? "That sounds like a learned and accurate appraisal. Not just short-sighted jingoism or anything, of course not." Now how is that short sighted? "France fell because its defensive strategy hinged on the Maginot Line, which was maybe a bad idea considering the Germans simply restaged the Schlieffen Plan they used in the First World War and outflanked it." Gee everybody knew they were coming. But they really could not stop it. "I'm not French, but I see too many ostensibly in-jest comments about the French's inability to fight." Ahh they usually seem to run when the fight comes "The British Expeditionary Force was defeated by the advancing Germans and had to evacuate back across the Channel. The British Army did not return to France in force until Overlord." I forgot the BEF was not part of the British army. "But too many people seem to be ignorant of the fact that we were fighting in Africa and Asia/Australasia, as well as fending off German air attacks at home, and supporting resistance and partisan operations." Quit making excuses. "It is true that the USA was a major contributor to the defeat of Germany and Japan. But it did not somehow save the other Allies from destruction." I find that statement rather ignorant. Even you have said they were fighting in Africa, SE Asia and at home. It is quite obvious that the British were on the defensive until the U.S. got involved. Actually I wonder how the british would have faired minus the Lend Lease policy with the US. "We were having a bit of trouble, but Göring lost the initiative when he switched attacks from airfields to cities." I believe that was more of Hitlers idea. Something about a British bombing of Hamburg (City citizens) on the night he was giving a speech. Anywho I think we are now seeing why your anger is showing through in your posts. You appear to be from the region. "Britain was quite able to sustain itself and conduct military operations in other theatres." I suppose singapore being taken, Rommel running about free in Africa and the home front being smashed day in day out can be construed as sustaining. "It is doubtful that we could have defeated the Axis powers on our own, but would those who regard the USA as the saviour of the free world kindly get their facts right." Well gee let me see. You just admitted it was doubtful the British would have defeated the Axis on thier own. Then say no way is the US the savior? What is wrong with the above paragraph? You obviously needed a savior(US) to get the job done. I suppose you can stop thanking us for starving the Japanese of oil to the point where they thought they had to bomb us to get us to the bargaining table BTW I am liking all the lively conversation We should all just meet on the battlefield.
