  1. Well, Fionn Kelly shows a great proficiency with split squads in almost every one of his games in the roles of scouts. He plays on Elite experience levels, however, which is something I have yet to try out. The only time I use half squads is when I am using scouts myself (usually lower-quality troops, since they almost always get ambushed and badly mauled), or when I am trying to cover as much VL's as possible in a given area without wasting too much men. ------------------ "...Every position, every meter of Soviet soil must be defended to the last drop of blood..." - Segment from Order 227 "Not a step back" [This message has been edited by The Commissar (edited 12-12-2000).]

  3. Yes, there are indeed boys in France. Otherwise, who would impregnate those flirty French wenches? (Tee-hee, I said wench!) Rob, unteel u spel sumwat dicantli, me no answar ur quastian!
  4. Soviets, masters of armored combat. JS2 or better yet the JS3. Hey, it was out in 45' Or, for the same amount of points double that number of T-34/85's Cheers! ------------------ "...Every position, every meter of Soviet soil must be defended to the last drop of blood..." - Segment from Order 227 "Not a step back" [This message has been edited by The Commissar (edited 12-12-2000).]

  7. Boy oh boy...looks like most of you die-hards don't have day jobs (or have very good bosses!) and are able to post all day long! Lots of heated argument, lots of good points made. However, I think we should have BTS itself have a say in this. We've given lots of good reasons for having this feature included, and some gave reasons against it, which (IMHO, remember) I personally dont agree with. Whichever the case, BTS' word will stand on this issue, no matter what we think. BTW: Germanboy - Aww, you spotted one of my spelling mistakes. Don't you feel like a big boy now! Good job, buddy! Here, have a cookie If it makes you feel any better, most of my posts will have the following Disclaimer: This post is not spell-checked due to the laziness and self-assuridance (purpusfully speled rong) of the author. ------------------ "...Every position, every meter of Soviet soil must be defended to the last drop of blood..." - Segment from Order 227 "Not a step back"
  8. Against such an opponent, I would not mind getting "whipped", "spanked", or getting my "ass kicked". It's all in good fun...really good fun. ------------------ "...Every position, every meter of Soviet soil must be defended to the last drop of blood..." - Segment from Order 227 "Not a step back"
  9. David, As many others have made clear by now, your arguments are perposterous! Simply perposterous! (always wanted to say that) Several of my great-grandparents died in the Second World War, but I am almost positive that when I re-enact the battle for Stalingrad or Kursk in CM2, they will not be rolling around in their graves if I happened to lose the battle. Tiger, Whether including the American/Brit/Western allies will take up a considerable amount of time is questionable. It depends on whether code from the original CM is compatible with that of CM2. If this is the case, and the graphics haven't gone through a major overhaul (probobly the case, somewhat unfortunately), the inclusion of the Allies FOR MULTIPLAYER ONLY, would not be a lenghty task. ------------------ "...Every position, every meter of Soviet soil must be defended to the last drop of blood..." - Segment from Order 227 "Not a step back"
  10. Use the sneak command. I hear it works better for exactly what you ask for in the 1.1 beta patch.
  11. Uh-oh. Not the "running MG" discussion again!
  12. If it's you, Manta, its also me and a bunch of other guys. Ultimately, the decision would not be based on the feelings of all these ill-speakers, but on the personal opinions of Steve and Charles. If they feel the same way David or Rob do, we get no match ups. If their views can be shifted with valid arguments, we may just stand a chance. The least we can do is try. After all, much of what we see in CM originated as suggestions from loyal fans on this very board! ------------------ "...Every position, every meter of Soviet soil must be defended to the last drop of blood..." - Segment from Order 227 "Not a step back"
  13. Thermo, Some of your suggestions are valid and did indeed work, but I certaintly know that the Driver's slit could be closed from the inside, and was not large enough to fit a grenade through (I think). I think that a 60mm is considerably more powerful then a hand grenade, too. One must also consider that the infantry, some not very educated in tank-busting antics, might not have known the weaknesses of such a beast. ------------------ "...Every position, every meter of Soviet soil must be defended to the last drop of blood..." - Segment from Order 227 "Not a step back"
  14. CM requires a Pent 200 and a video card to run. Most systems with those specs probobly have a HD of at least 3-5 gigs. Now, if you have an Atari with 3-5 Megs of memory and try to run CM2, then you know its time for an upgrade. Besides, by the time CM2 is out most people here will have a HD large enough for CM2, or in the process of buying one. ------------------ "...Every position, every meter of Soviet soil must be defended to the last drop of blood..." - Segment from Order 227 "Not a step back"
  15. Ok...wait a sec...let me get this right...the size of the game in MEGABYTES is an ISSUE now-a-days?! What the hell?! BG2, probobly the best RPG around at the moment comes with 4 disks and over 2 gigs worth of game. I dont see anyone complaining... Oh, and if BTS charges more for a second disk, I dont think ANY of us would mind paying an extra - what? - $10. ------------------ "...Every position, every meter of Soviet soil must be defended to the last drop of blood..." - Segment from Order 227 "Not a step back"
  16. Were they, Rob? I dont recal the thread asking for a matchup between the nationalities in QB format. Care to provide a link? I want to see if their case is the same as ours. ------------------ "...Every position, every meter of Soviet soil must be defended to the last drop of blood..." - Segment from Order 227 "Not a step back"
  17. Great news, Duke! I like combined arms myself, but we'll have to make it fairly large to allow room for tanks to play a large part. Say...3k or more? BTW - Anyone else who would like to play me in more armor-engagements or interesting engagements of any sort, contact me. Players who would have time for TCP/IP games, if only an hour at a stretch, are very VERY welcome. These games would be discussed and analyzed in this post (and prob some others after this one is buried under the latest incarnation of the Cesspool). I only ask because the opponent who I have been playing against during the lenght of this post seems to have discovered the post and found it offensive. Not sure exactly why, especially since I made it clear to him that it was solely for advice purposes and that I invited him to post his own views. Considering the fact that I did not once reveal his name or speak bad against him further proves this. Well, hoping for replies. Cheers! ------------------ "...Every position, every meter of Soviet soil must be defended to the last drop of blood..." - Segment from Order 227 "Not a step back"
  18. That, eh, um is an -cough- interesting photograph of the previously never-before-seen German uber-weapon. Excuse me while I retire to the bathroom for unrelated matters. Ok, im back. I believe we will require more - um - intelligence photographs to analyze this new Wehremarcht death-machine. Photographs from many different angles, to be sure. -ahem- ------------------ "...Every position, every meter of Soviet soil must be defended to the last drop of blood..." - Segment from Order 227 "Not a step back"
  19. David, From what I can tell, you are personally offended by the possibility of such a war. It surely must be so, since most of the original combatants of WW2 are (unfortunately) either deceased or too old to play computer games. So it must be a personal matter. Now, if it is in fact personal, you cannot say you dont want something made just because it contains something you dont like. I am very sure that most of the other posters on this board would indeed be interested in such an option, if only for "test" value. If everyone had to abide by the personal feelings of every single person, games like this would not be made since I am sure there are a lot of people who cannot look at a swasticka (damn bad spelling) without screaming about Nazi culture and faschism. We've had a few on this board, if you remember. ------------------ "...Every position, every meter of Soviet soil must be defended to the last drop of blood..." - Segment from Order 227 "Not a step back"
  20. Ok, so a country fighting against itself is almost totally unrealistic (Perestroika 2, anyone?), but it only takes a bit of imagination and a look into history books to imagine such conflicts as the US vs USSR. Considering availability of vehicles, ammunition, etc? Well, thats generally easy. By the time the war ends, both sides can use all the technology they have used in previous years. Assuming people don't want this "match up" stuff to go into a game in and of itself (which is not something I want at least), BTS would not have to model any armor/ammo/infantry weapon development after '45. Then again, it WOULD be cool to have my comrads armed with AK-47's Anyhow, I think I made my point. I'll sctuttle off and await further replies! ------------------ "...Every position, every meter of Soviet soil must be defended to the last drop of blood..." - Segment from Order 227 "Not a step back"
  21. Again, David, freedom of choice rules the day. You don't like the idea, don't play it. The main game would indeed be historical. An option just for fun, or better yet, to test whose forces were really superior, would be fantastic. Come on, don't tell me you never wanted to know how the war would go if something like this happened! I bet many people did. This is a perfectly sound and educational tool for acting out this scenario - which could have easily happened in real life - without millions being killed on both sides. ------------------ "...Every position, every meter of Soviet soil must be defended to the last drop of blood..." - Segment from Order 227 "Not a step back"
  22. Chris, There's another thread for the USSR vs US suggestion. I'd love to see it myself, just for the chance to see what a JS3 can do to one of those pathetic U.S. M-26's! "Davaity, tovarishy, bei capitalistichiskovo gada!" Oh boy, I think Im off drooling again. [This message has been edited by The Commissar (edited 12-10-2000).]
  23. Lindan, In your post, you said that it took 12 minutes to reload the Sturm tiger, but I can't imagine why! I realise that the shell weights in at more then half a ton, but is this the only thing which slows down the loading process? Or is the loading itself a complex matter? Im sort of interested in this vehicle, so any info would be appreciated. Cheers! ------------------ "...Every position, every meter of Soviet soil must be defended to the last drop of blood..." - Segment from Order 227 "Not a step back"
  24. That would indeed be a cool game, but I think we would have to wait until computer improve in quality before such a game could be made. Remember, the ranges of 70's-80's weaponry were considerably longer then those in the 40's. So that means having battle fields many times the size we have now. I dont know about you guys, but on the largest map with many troops, my computer chugs, and its not that old. ------------------ "...Every position, every meter of Soviet soil must be defended to the last drop of blood..." - Segment from Order 227 "Not a step back"
  25. Stimpy, The bar looks generally well done, but a bit too bright for my own taste. Plus, it sort of resembles an interface from some sort of futuristic sort of game, at least to me that is.
