  1. Jeez... guess it's been awhile since I was last at Aberdeen. Just checked their website and it looks like they're trying to renovate the vehicles and come up with a building to house them all. ------------------ "You know our standing orders. 2. Does anyone know of a good armor museum in the US? I've been to the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland a number of times. Their "field of tanks" is great in that there's a lot of vehicles, and you're free to walk up (but not climb on/in) to them, but the vehicles are in so-so shape (being left outside for a few decades doesn't help I guess). ------------------ "You know our standing orders. 3. I suppose you could save your single-player turns after you've plotted orders and go back and replay them. Trouble is the movie phase may play back differently as the computer is redoing all the calculations (ie, shots that hit first time may miss on a replay). ------------------ "You know our standing orders. 4. Tiger: "That's not what David is saying at all Clay. The topic title talks about bug fixes for a possible 1.04 patch. Add-ons such as rosters and convoy waypoints, are not bug fixes in any way shape or form." Strictly speaking, the topic is "Rank the fixes", which I would take to include "tweaks" (small and not-so small) to gameplay as well as correcting bugs. As for the point in asking people to list their "top 5", there comes a point when any list of issues can get out of hand and you need to prioritize what to fix first. This can be *very* important when the "next" patch might be the last. I've participated in boards where designers have asked for, or otherwise appreciated such lists to help them decide what to focus on. I don't see the problem in doing so here. ------------------ "You know our standing orders. Out of ammo become a bunker, out of commission become a pillbox, out of time... become heroes." - The Beast
  5. I'm hopefully going to start some PBEMs soon, and have an ettiquette question that I don't think was covered in the recent thread on such. I'm surprised at the large setup area on the maps I've played. Is it considered bad form to push units right up to the setup edge? I'm in favor of keeping units on the map edge (except things like a column of tanks coming down a road, or snipers who've setup ahead), but don't want to handicap myself if others don't do the same. ------------------ "You know our standing orders. 6. You make what seems like a colossal blunder early in the game... stick it out, and wind up winning anyway? Makes for a very satisfying game. I was playing a random meeting engagement. Got 2 nice platoons of infantry, a few heavy weap teams, a StuG III, and enough HTs to transport one platoon, the CO and a team. I figured I'd load up one platoon and send it zooming into town, maybe get lucky and setup an ambush. The AI did the same thing with an M8... in one turn it took out all 4 HTs (easy as they were all in a nice line coming down the road) and my infantry went scrambling for cover. I thought about quiting, but kept on and eventually won. My StuG earned it's pay that day... had 4 vehicle kills and about a dozen infantry. ------------------ "You know our standing orders. 7. Just curious... I mean if Marine Doom was really used this is a must! ------------------ "You know our standing orders. Out of ammo become a bunker, out of commission become a pillbox, out of time... become heroes." - The Beast

  9. I play a little of everything. Civ, X-Com: UFO Defense, Jagged Alliance 2 and Star Control 2 stand out in my mind as some of the best. I play more Civ-like games than I do wargames... Sid Meier's Gettysburg has been my favorite wargame, until CM. I do feel the need for a little action now and then. Unreal Tournament and Carmageddon usually satisfy those urges, and I break out the old joystick for a good space sim from time to time. Can't stand real-time strategy games, although I did play through Starcraft. Syndicate and Syndicate Wars were excellent games, but for whatever reason the latter got bad press. I thought it was much better than the original. Nuclear Grenades and those satelite strikes you could call in were a riot! I could never get past the final missions though, where losing one agent was a loss. ------------------ "You know our standing orders. 10. Still waiting on my copy, so to pass the time I was wondering what others would like to see next for CM? I imagine mods will probably cover anything we'd possibly want, but I'd buy another product from BTS if they were to release an expansion or sequel. My vote's split between: Eastern Front - I'm sure this'll be a popular vote. Give me T-34's and I'll be happy. Modern - I played modern long before dabbling in WWII, so I'm a little biased here. I can just picture ATGMs flying (relatively) slowly through the air... and praying no one saw the launch before they hit! ------------------ "You know our standing orders. 11. 28 Will hopefully be a player this weekend. Placed my order Monday morning and didn't know the order went in before stock ran out until I checked my account balance this morning 8) ------------------ "You know our standing orders.
